Perhaps the most well-known episode because of the nickel. Known as the Olsen specimen, it's the second of five intentionally struck by a mint employee in 1913. The nickel is also known as the "Hawaii Five-O Nickel", and is the most famous of the five. At the time of the show, it had just been sold for $100,000. It's since been graded PR64 by PCGS and PF64 (Proof-64) by NGC. It's currently in an NGC holder with the designation "THE HAWAII FIVE-O COIN". It last sold for 3.7 million in 2010.
Here was a great character actor, who was truly THE best in this business, and Jack Lord and his producers chose their guest stars very, very well! Victor Buono was a true talent, since his film debut in Warner Bros' "WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE" in 1962. best remembered as the villian "King Tut" from ABC's "BATMAN" series,Buono even recorded a record album in the early 70s called "Heavy",but the late actor was just such a true joy to watch! he later played "Mr Schubert" on NBC's 1977 TV series,"THE MAN FROM ATLANTIS",and has a lengthy Film and TV credit to his awesome history, before his death in 1981-but "McGarrett's" line about feeling like a Mongoose watching a snake,,that was classic, and ironic, given that Mongooses are all over Oahu, since their 1883 importation to the island chain, the invaisive species is a danger to Oahu's indigenous bird species, but is still a very active predator on the islands, minus any snakes, which are not found in Hawaii,,unless illegally smuggled, which carries very heavy penalties,if anyone is ever caught with snakes on Oahu!
King Tut from Batman or Supreme Judge Court nominee Robert Bork. Some of the TV casting back in the 70's was perfect from Jack Lord of Steve McGarrett, Peter Falk of Columbo, Larry Hagman JR Ewing. Carroll O'Connor All in the Family, Redd Foxx in Sanford and Son. Without these star actors this shows fail in the first season.
Victor Buono I loved him! He was a great actor author and poet! He made a great King Tut on the old Batman series of the 1960's
👍
@@robertdiotalevi285 He was a modern day version of Sidney Greenstreet.
@@frankdenardo8684 Well put, FD! 👍
Victor Bruno was also a perfect foil for Jim West on “Wild Wild West.”
Does anybody remember him as Mr Schubert on the man from Atlantis and I believe he also starred in The Untouchables once as well
Classy man Jack Lord
He & Clint Eastwood.....no nonsense tough guys !!!!
