They claim twisters are the first synthetic bowling pin ever made but it’s actually the second. The first synthetic bowling pin ever created was the magna pin. The magna pin was made out of foam surrounded by a shell of magnesium which was then coated with the standard plastic cover stock.
I would think the goal of making a synthetic pin would be to duplicate the behavior of a wooden pin. If they fall down easier, I would have to say product is a failure. If you take away the challenge of a sport by making it easier with equipment, You are taking the sport a step backwards if you ask me. If the higher scores are because the product is more consistent, I have no problem with that
A lot of bowling alleys are not using wooden pins anymore. I'm sure there are benefits with wooden pins than Twister Pins, but some bowling alleys around some countries have been having problems with the low life of wooden pins now, wooden pins are easier to break than Twister Pins, bowling alleys will buy new bowling pins, and then after not that long, some are already weak, some already need replacing, they're just ridding of wooden pins and buying Twister Pins
Yes indeed. I watched it over a few times and if you watch the bottom closely, you see the end grain changes slightly and there are four dimple markings which become much more pronounced. Definitely not the same pin we saw it drive up on.
It is look at the wood on the pin the grain is different and also there are are 4 small dimples basically stating that first pin they used actually survived but this one did not
Awesome I personally like twister pins I visit a center in Vandalia Illinois they have twister pins and my enthusiasm for these synthetic pins grows and now I own Three twister pins for my Pin collection I've been collecting wood pins for years now I said it's time for something different in my collection two twister pins came from Vandalia Bowl in Vandalia Illinois USA and one was a trade I like twister pins that much as far as scoring I shoot between 163 and 231 with those
The main issue with these pins for a center is that they can be so durable they break machine parts when a deck jam occurs. If the pin is stronger than the machine, and something has to give, I would always want the pin to give instead of a moving deck.
I agree with you I collect pins and I'm a proud owner of Three twister pins I've been collecting wood pins for years now I wanted to add something different to the mix
Not all at once just over time, Over the years the ball continues to hit the pins, the machine continues to rattle with them, the Twister pin will get a bit dirty, and eventually maybe a few dints, the logo is just fine, but shouldn’t be a big deal, wooden pins, Nah, they break too easily, the ink just wears away over time, after some years they look worn out already, and something not even that long after you replaced them with new wooden pins they might even begin to break,
You could really have some fun with custom sets of these in the Petersen Classic. Make some pins two pounds, some five-plus pounds, change the resiliencies such that some are totally dead whereas others bounce like a Super Ball®, et cetera...
During my days back in the late 70’s there was a mfg of the plastic pin in RI. he would come to Burlington Mass and we would test his pins against the traditional pins
This Bowling Pin is my most favourite! I know it sounds kinda odd when people mainly like wooden pins, most people don't like it, but hey if you go to a bowling alley and they use these pins you've at least got something to bowl with rather than using ancient and faded wooden pins
I don't like the Twister Pins by mainly the noise and the suface of the pin. I prefer the real pins made of wood. My favorite pin it's the Qubicaamf Amflite II. In my country (France), the Bowlings Alley centers use generally the AMF Bowling pins. After, I not say if the Twister pins are bad, but I don't like this pins, it's my personal opinion. I have four Twister pins, and I never bowl with. Bowling it's the best American sport, hell yeah ! ;p
Nice, I also work on 82-70s, Brunswick Zone Tri-City, in Avondale, AZ. Both of our other mechanics have experience on A2s as well, the things I've heard make me glad I work on AMF machines. haha.
Aww i wish I had some of them they look so cool I love the stripes they’re so decent, they have twister pins At Olympia Leisure in Scarborough and they sound so much different to AMF or Brunswick pins as they are synthetic not wood, i think AMF and Brunswick pins are wood because they sound different.😊
I like Twister Pins but the truth is the sounds were not impressive. If you wanna have long durability pins I would recommend to buy the Qubicaamf Eagle Pins, Brunswick Scoreking Pins, Qubicaamf AMFLITE 2 Pins (Latest versions) and Pinnacle Pins they were more durable than any other pins including AMFLITE 2 Pins (old versions) and Brunswick Max Pins (Old and New)
I have a question about the stamped numbers on the Twister pins. What does those stamped numbers mean I have one with 17 stamped on it three with 18 stamped on it what does that mean I'm up to seven twisters
I love this pins so much! I worked with QubicaAMF and Brunswick pins but THIS have more life then others and mate finish much easy to clean. Love this❤
Having to bowl with these pins at a bowling alley is better than having to bowl with old as and ancient pins, yes they sound odd and weird for people preferring wood pins
Some bowling alleys don't use wooden pins anymore because they're fed up with them not lasting long enough compared to twister pins, so that's simply just it, if they don't want wooden pins they don't want them anymore. My local bowling alley also stopped using wooden pins and bought twister pins
These pins had there good and bad characteristics. When you hit the pocket light you almost always would shred the rack and strike. When you hit the pocket a touch high. The kind of high hit that on wood pins you would either leave a 4 pin or you would trip the 4 pin. On twisters you would leave the 4,9 split.
Think of the sound before you make them -.- No, I'm not spending 3 bucks or a dollar game to play bowling with kid's bowling pins. I like the design of it, but when it comes to hitting it and hearing the sounds, I give it a -100. Twister Synthetic Bowling Pins - 2 thumbs down Wood bowling pins - 2 thumbs up Even if the synthetic bowling pin always stays in 1 piece. I don't care, I'd still rather stick with wood.
If you watch this video here: ua-cam.com/video/AQr1b_lYCLA/v-deo.html Broken Wood Pins sounded worse than Twisters. Sure replacing them is easy but the money are gonna be wasted which if I was a mechanic, I rather spend the money for Pinsetter parts and oil/cleaner for the Oil Machine. Especially Bowling centers in poor countries can't afford to replace and would rather find pinsetter parts than pins.
With these experiments, yeah wooden pins are easier to break than the twister pin, look at the twister pin still in one piece, Nah the wooden pin got wrecked
Personally i hate twister pins. Yes they save the center a ton of money, but bowling with them is ridiculously un-fulfilling because they are very light and sound like plastic when you hit them
These twister pins are dumb first the sound is awful it does not sound like bowling pins and I bet if you give someone a sound test and make them hear this sound of these awful pins they would guess differently then bowling and second at 6:00 you cut the clip and made a more crushed pin to make it look like the wood can’t hold it also making it easier to score? I mean c’mon people can take a challenge you don’t have to make it easier! Ratings for the pin: -9999999/10
Synthetic lanes, synthetic pins, reactive resin balls. No wonder bowling's glory days hit its peak in the 60s. When the game was raw, pure and natural. This sport is nothing what it once was. Technology ruined this game.
I don't really care about the old days of Bowling but today is a lot better in my opinion. Bowlero, Botique Bowling Centers and String Pins are the real destroyers for the sport. Technology has nothing to do from ruining the Sport.
I wonder, if I stead of a solid pin, a hollow pin with a high-density plastic shell would bounce and clatter better? The pin clatter with these sound dull and less satisfying(at least in this video).
I like this pin yes it does sound odd, but because of it’s high durability, permanent logo some bowling alleys have gone for the Twister pin because they’re finished with wooden pins, I already seen one bowling alley who got the Twister pin and will not be getting anymore wooden pins anytime soon. You may prefer the wooden pins, but you can’t do much if your local bowling alley has thrown away the wooden pins and will not be getting them again because they gone for the strong twister pin
These pins suck ass. Ever played on a set of dead pins? That's what these feel and sound like. I worked at a center in virgina between 2006 and 2010. We bought 800 of these pins to fill forty lanes and switched back to quibica/amf within a few months. What a waste of money.
They have higher scoring, because they are more consistent, and that's a good thing. Bowling is skill based game, and any variations should be limited if possible. One thing I’m worried about Twisters are sliding across the pindeck and won’t fall. I know cleaning the pindecks would be the solution but pretty much most Pinsetter Mechanics would rather clean the Pinsetters and not the pindeck.
They claim twisters are the first synthetic bowling pin ever made but it’s actually the second. The first synthetic bowling pin ever created was the magna pin. The magna pin was made out of foam surrounded by a shell of magnesium which was then coated with the standard plastic cover stock.
Hence the permit number, which Twister is S2, while Magna is S1.

its plastic not rubber

They sound different to me. Part of bowling is that crash of the pins when you get a strike.
So pretty much cheaper pins that last long but make bowling way easier than it already should be, and sounds kinda shitty...
Having to bowl with these pins at a bowling alley is better than having to bowl with old as and ancient pins, yes they sound odd and weird for people preferring wood pins
Honestly, wood pins are better. When my friend went bowling at a lane with twister pins, he said that pin carry was not a thing that day.
Some bowling alleys don't use wooden pins anymore because they're fed up with them not lasting long enough compared to twister pins, so that's simply just it, if they don't want wooden pins they don't want them anymore. My local bowling alley also stopped using wooden pins and bought twister pins
Except Wood Pins would break over time and be inconsistent with their Pin Action or Pin Carry.
