  • We just lost a best friend and music icon - Eddie Money was one of the most positive, loving, caring people you will ever meet! We miss him dearly and promised his wife Laurie we would play this in his honor.

Eddie Money and REO Speedwagon also hosted a fundraiser for those affected by last November`s Borderline shooting and wildfires. Quote: Eddie regularly performed to raise money for education and music-related causes.

TH - That's too bad that you never got to see him live. He was a very enthusiastic and passionate performer. Every year he opened up the outdoors Pine Knob Music Theater (DTE Music Theater) in Clarkston, MI, rain / snow or shine (actually one time it did snow). Having season tickets for years, I have seen him about 10 times. He was on fire in the 1980s & 1990s with a strong voice and great bands (Jimmy Lyons or Tommy Girvin on guitar). Indeed a sad time.

My first big pd gig was in 1981 for Heart and Eddie, I was Nancy's guitar tech and #2 overall pd. After Eddie opened I was clearing his dressing rooms after they had got on the bus. I stepped into the athletic taping room of the arena and Eddie was laying alone on a taping bench. I said "oh man I'm sorry"... He said "man no problem.. have a seat..." And that night Eddie and Nancy launched me to rock n roll legend.. Yep.. The one you've never heard of...

Eddie was the man that knew how to get into every girls heart. He has something extra extra special. Unique vocals, unique music sound and nobody could sound like him. Ive been a fan since day one when Eddies first hit song hit the airwaves and I was hooked for life! His passing crushes me but im happy he is no longer suffering the evil that we call cancer. I lost the love of my life, my soulmate my husband to cancer in 2014. It is so unfair. I would like for all of Eddies fans become involved in things that benefit cancer cure research. I feel that would have meant so much to him. RIP Eddie you have found paradise ✌💜😘

Good on them for doing this! Eddie was a great guy, I saw him a couple years ago. He may be gone but his music didn't pass away with him. It's forever embedded in our souls! RIP

I guess like everyone else, in my 58 years on this earth I have lost many friends, family, and loved ones, people I admired. Not to sound cold, but I have grown to be an old guy with a pretty hard shell. I would not have suspected Eddies passing to sting so hard. Maybe because it was so “out of the blue” ( I haven’t kept up with what was going on with him). But this does hurt.
I caught Eddie’s shows three times over the years and all of them were great, one (1982, Las Cruses NM) was the best show I’ve ever seen anyone do and I’ve said for years it was my favorite. It’s a long story but really showed what a great guy and performer he was. I never went back stage or even talked to him but it was clear he was a good guy even if you were just standing in the audience.
Thanks to everyone associated with REO for doing this, it was a fitting tribute and well done.
Condolences and prayers to Eddie’s family and friends, he will be remembered and missed by thousands of us. We have all lost an outstanding vocalist, songwriter and good dude.

Me too. I'm 58 and saw Eddie live 14 times. Not much effects me but his passing has hit me very hard. RIP Money Man. You rocked us great for a long time and made many people happy. Thanks for the memories. You were a talented and decent man. May your ticket have let you into paradise immediately. God Bless EM 9/13/19

HEIDI Reidt - yup, another bummer. I didn’t realize Rick worked so hard for so long in the music industry before the Cars. I saw a video about him earlier today that said he was born in 1944 and his work went back into the ‘60’s. I had no idea.

As an old dude looking back, Eddie was a part of my life in the 70s all the time. All we had was Radio and One of his tunes would play almost hourly it seems looking back in the back of my 57 Chevy. My deepest condolences to all of Eddie's family and friends.
Oh and all of us fans young and old.
