    THANK YOU!! You saved me throwing money at it and ordering a new board and about 200$ worth of food! Fixed it on the side of the road. Made it shiny and it immediately started to glow.

    My fridge kept going out in windy conditions. Now I know why. I plan to adjust the igniter to be a little closer to the flame. Thanks.

    I pulled my dometic fridge out and it started to free-flowing propane. The hose looks fine where it attaches to the fridge. Any thoughts?

    Thank you for a good information.
    In Dometic RM2801 RV fridge it could not ignite the feidge. Therefore I used to light it up with a lighter. Then, after watching several videos I decided to clean the orifice or burner assembly. Even though I did not use mechsnical force to clean it now it will not stay lit after lighting up with a lighter. I did not find any knob or valve adjust freezing level of this fridge and keeps burning the propane no matter how the outside temperature is.
    Any hints or suggestions will be apprecuated.

    thank you First I must say that this Norcold refriigerator and mine are the same and they are very rare. I have searched all over for the correct orifice and short gas line. I will post the model number here shortly so that we can get down to the bottom of this.

    Absolutely loved your video! I have an old Newark old refrigerator in my camper that I just bought. Refrigerator runs on AC but not propane. I am getting a spark but the propane does not seem to be going to the spark. Just to check on the propane are used one of those long lighters and did not get any sign of propane. The igniter stopped of course when I put an actual Flame there like it’s supposed to do. Could some thing like a spiderweb be stuck in a pipe where there is no propane coming out at all?

    Hi . My problem is that fridge works ok on 12 and 120V, it will work on propane for ex. 8 hrs and shut off. It is a Norcold N400.3R. The thermocouple has been replaced, The chimney is clean. Suggestions??? Thank you.

    Thank you for video. I am having a problem too with it igniting for 10 seconds then shutting off. I replaced the board thinking that was the issue.
    I now followed your advice and cleaned the probe and getting same results. Any suggestions?

    • @RVlifestyleandRepair
      @RVlifestyleandRepair  4 роки тому +2

      It depends on if the flame goes slowly out or just cuts right out. If it cuts out fast then the probe just needs replaced. If the flame slowly dies down, sometimes quickly, it is usually the gas valve. Make sure to pay attention to the flame and see what it does. It could be either one. Since it does sense it and then goes out I would assume it is the gas valve but it could be either one.

    I have a norcold fridge with a similar igniter probe, along with another long, thin, copper tube that runs from the top of the fridge down into the burner box. Both of these were recently replaced, but my fridge will no longer stay lit. I have been able to keep a flame going by keeping the gas button pressed on the inside of the camper, but the igniter probe must not be sensing the circuit. Any ideas? And do you know what the copper piping is?

    That's probably my problem as well.
    I'm so glad they designed the fridge with that big black pipe IN FRONT of the flame .... Imagine if they put the part that mostly likely needs service where you can get at it.

    What about if the fridge runs in both ac and gas but the ac part seams to have stoped. The indicator light that it was on just went out and idk what to do. I need it to run on ac and I see fuses in the fuse box under the fridge could it just be one of those? It was working fine till it got really hot out side then it just shut off. The air conditioner might have fought it for power and won.

    My Frig it works on electric but not on gas. You can hear the ticking and the flame lights but as soon as the igniter stops ticking the flame goes out. I took out the gas nozzle and cleaned it but didn't help could the main board be bad?

    • @RVlifestyleandRepair
      @RVlifestyleandRepair  5 років тому +2

      Hello. It sounds like the flame sensor is the issue. There is an electrode that senses the flame and these can have carbon build up that would prevent it from working properly. They can fail too and need replacing but cleaning them usually helps. You can use sand paper or steel wool to clean off the electrode and see if it helps. We do have a video that shows how to clean this and other things to look for. If cleaning doesn't work, it's possible the electrode is bad or even the control board. The control board would be a last resort. I would first try cleaning everything you can and then maybe replace the electrode if cleaning doesn't help.

    Can you help me. My Domestic refrigerator freezer stop freezing water in the freezer. I noticed a build up in the freezer so I defrosted it. Even put in a small space heater to help the ice melt. It was completely gone. The unit has been off for at least 2 days and I checked it today and they're still ice build up on the back wall of the freezer at least a quarter inch thick. Could the unit still be running on propane even though the switch is off.

    • @RVlifestyleandRepair
      @RVlifestyleandRepair  4 роки тому

      With the switch off there should be nothing running. You will want to check the back of the fridge. If the boiler chamber is hot then the fridge is running. You should be able to see if the burner tube is lit if operating on propane. If there is no flame then it might be running on electric if you are plugged into shore power. There is the possibility of an issue with the control board and it might not be turning off. It can actually be either the upper or lower control board so it is best to have it tested before replacing anything. There won't be ice inside unless it is running so something is running that shouldn't be. If you pull the fuse for the fridge it will turn it off in the meantime. Without the fuse it won't run on electric or gas.

    My norcold 611 is giving me 5 flash codes, replaced gas valve, no luck, suggestions please

    • @RVlifestyleandRepair
      @RVlifestyleandRepair  4 роки тому

      I believe that is for the flame sense and usually means the gas valve is stuck open when it shouldn't be. Since you already replaced the valve most likely it is the board that is sensing improperly and will need to be replaced. Usually if you see this code and there is no flame on the back, it is just the board that has failed.

    ok this model that he and I have here is a 1995 Norcold model #6162 (6.3ci two door) and Camping world says that most of these parts are not available any longer. I was looking for the orifice and the "z" shaped line. Im going to try some modification. ...Scary. I don't advise anyone to this. Don't mess with gas!

    • @RVlifestyleandRepair
      @RVlifestyleandRepair  5 років тому +2

      Hi Scott. I would check the back of the fridge and look for any signs of leaks or the smell of ammonia. This sound could be caused by a leak in the cooling unit. The smell is pretty recognizable and seeing any yellow residue in the back indicates there is a leak and the cooling unit would need replaced. These should not be making any noise. I recently worked on one that was making a gurgling noise and it was caused by a blockage in the cooling unit. The fridge would have to be on for this to happen though. The best place to start would be the back of the fridge and see if you can trace the sound. It's possible it could be something else but it does sound like a problem with the cooling unit.
