GREAT Job Jay. No Lishi Needed For This Job. I Think The Gaps Between And Under The Doors Was What They Thought Would Be Good For More Cross Ventilation Between The Rooms 🤣 🙃
The problem with being good at fixing other peoples mistakes is you get called a lot. If they would have just had the proper company do it right the first time they wouldn’t have to double pay and have bad door gaps to deal with. I’m going over and fixing every door in a newly constructed building for a large well known company. We bill them and they pass the bill on to the contractor that did the door and lock installs. We may now be doing all the door and lock installations in their new building.
I've seen a lot of bad commercial door and frame installations but I haven't seen wood screws used in a steel frame yet. Bad frame installers just just set the frame on the floor even though the floor is not level.
I think it comes down to finding workers these days. A lot of places are short staffed and are hiring whoever they can find to work. I guess this would be the end result of that.
Hey Jay,. Thx for the Video. That looked like a real crap initial install. On a job like this, (if you had too) could you shim out the hinges to close the gaps?
Now lining up bad door installer “contractors” at the firing range 🤣 I definitely know what to get you for the holidays Jay - wood screws! Seems like they’re useful all over the place 😁 What was the Milwaukee tool Bird Man was using on the top of that door to bring it down and would you also recommend it for wood doors? I have to fix a bunch of sagging interior wood doors in my house soon to eliminate rubbing for a lead paint inspection 😞
For wood, I would just scribe the door and take it outside to cut it off. I would use my 7 1/4" circular saw with a fine tooth paneling blade with painters tape.
Man, that was one thing after another in the world of doors Jay! Curious? would that be a commercial kitchen? They probably won't even notice gaps after those doors actually functioning now LOL Thanks for the new vid Brutha!
Nice to see a video in door repair look forward in see some more. Have a great day Jay.
More to come!
Good to see you back!
Finally catching up from the summer. 👍

No worries on the exhaust fans sucking the doors closed. LOL
those “purse snatcher” rim strike plates are the worst 😂 I call them the “not funny” strikes cause it ain’t funny when they gouge into your hip
It's certainly not going to fall off the door anymore 🤣
I believe a good locksmith is also a good doorsmith. It is a symbiotic relationship between the lock, and any other hardware, and the door.
I couldn't agree more.
Nice to see some commercial doors and flush bolts, albeit wonky ones
It's always good to change it up now and then.
Great video Jay!
The BIRDMAN !!!

That's always a good problem to have.
You're alive?!?!? Been missing the videos Jay! Glad you're back and keep em coming. As always, thanks for sharing!
More to come!
Purse snatcher! 😂 Been missing the videos, good stuff. I put a lot of those frames in back when I was still laying block. Pain in the ass! 🤓👍
Not much else to call it 😄
Catching up on content before I crash. Good to see you again, cheers
Nice to see you PW.
Awesome video J-man. Glad to see more from ya. I like this kinda work, trouble shooting and problem solving is my kind of thing. 👍
Lots of that to do around here, it never ends :)
Machined woodscrews...hacks! GLS makes oversized hinge screws come in handy! NICE job! making chicken salad out of chicken sh!t
Hey Jeffro :) I have a pile of oversized everything that I picked up from Fastenal.

You can drive your van through those door gaps...yikes!
That's for sure

You can but they just wanted stuff to close so they can lock it for the off season. They don't even heat that building.
Nice job, I learned something! Watch out, your newbie should be wearing hearing protection for real, that is some high pitched cutting.
Good call!

Autos are easier..... I hate fixing other installers mistakes..... Which is about every door and lock. 🤮
Couldn't agree more.

Yeah, those doors were a hot mess. It is a commercial kitchen.
