    Discovered this channel today, great content. Explanations of what you are doing and crop management very good. I always lean to and follow agricultural content having been through the RAC and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor. With Wardle Waffle, Harry's Farm, Olly and Tom Pemberton (plus a few US farmers) these videos provide an excellent overview of the complexities of farming. I will be interested to hear your thoughts on SFI and food security.

    Great video James.
    It’s so nice to see a highly efficient, well run, farm business who take great pride in what they do. A real credit to you and your employees. Keep up the good work. Couldn’t agree more with you, about your concerns about grass weeds exploding under some of the SFI options. I see blackgrasss/ryegrass control as the largest threat to arable farming in the future.

    So good to see some crops doing so well, full of promise. Great chat about OSR and flea beetle damage v seed dressings. Andrew Ward made similar point with Sugar Beet seed dressing in latest waffle. Sadly, personally I hate Mustard as a condiment. But great to see a crop grown destined for a British product.

  • @JeffHuffer

    Another brilliant insight James, so pleased you highlighted the bee versus neo nics seed dressing issue, it’s complete bloody madness it’s banned! At least we had a derogation this year whilst growing sugar beet😊. Love this channel, so much better than wardys waffle 👍

    the to and fro with the mustard seeds following harvest is quite interesting, probably quite costly with the haulage.

    Question, you’re talking about neonictocides and the dressing being taken off the seed and the flea beetle pressure that has brought on. Is it just the UK that banned the seed dressing? Still see a lot of OSR grown here in Ireland . Whether we don’t have flea beetle or what I don’t know. (Not an arable farmer)

    • @whitesofoldcantley1622
      @whitesofoldcantley1622 7 місяців тому

      I believe the whole of the EU has banned the seed dressing. But we still import plenty of Ukrainian OSR which has neonics. Give it a couple more years and the UK won’t be growing any OSR, but plenty of wild flowers 😢

    I find it staggering that insurance fraud is such a prevalent problem that you've found it necessary (& presumably commercially viable) to spend £77k to combat it. As if there weren't already enough obstacles to get over!

    How can crop not be vegan ???

  • @nicklewis1475
    @nicklewis1475 7 місяців тому

    As you mention you/others "farm" bees to pollinate your crops, then your crops are not strictly Vegan. Sorry to be a pedant.. 😊

    • @willhook9460
      @willhook9460 4 місяці тому

      Bollocks. So if it’s picked by a human it isn’t vegan either?

    • @nicklewis1475
      @nicklewis1475 4 місяці тому

      @willhook9460 if you have farmed bees and moved hives to a specific locarion to pollinate food, it is NOT vegan, if it's pollinated naturally, yes, it is Vegan.
