If anyone has one of the older Mini 14's, the pre-580 series, putting a stablizing strut on will increase accuracy and help with cooling. Mo-Rod and Accu-Strut both build struts for the Mini-14, and either will work just fine. Both can be purchased from Sunflower Outdoor Sports. There are even struts for the newer 580 series as well.

Thank you for this video! I have the Older version Ruger Mini-14 and I have been shooting the rifle since the late 1990's til now. As for accuracy issues....even after 200 to 250 rounds I have no accuracy issues. I recently put on an Accustrut System on my Mini to eliminate "barrel flex" even though I never experienced any issues. But it's always nice to have any help from preventing that in the future. As I said before my groupings were good enough for me I am not a competition shooter just a plinker. I will probably never shoot over 200 yards. I do not bench rest test either. My groupings are very similar to yours (probably worse as I am not that great of a shot...LOL). I do have the AR and the AK too. IMO at 100 yards or less the accuracy issue will be about the same (without bench rest testing). I love my Mini-14. It is extremely reliable (1 FTF with ProMag 30 Round Magazines which have been trashed). I have only used Factory Ruger Magazines since and they all function flawlessly. I can shoot the crappy 55 grain Tulammo and have no issues. 1 of my AR's (I have built 2) works fine but the other does not like Tulammo. The Mini will eat and spit out any ammo I give it from crappy to quality. Either way the Mini should never be overlooked as an awesome rifle. Great video!

Thanks for the support and the input on the older rifles never hand the chance to fire one but input from guys who do is always nice. And as far as the grouping with my rifle is about what ruger hand in mind when they made the rifle its a ranch hand people tend to forget that sometimes. Its not a bench rest bolt gun. LOL

Great shooting! I have 187 series bought in 1989. My favorite gun hands down. It has a Leopold scope installed on it & shoots great out too 100.

Haven't yet fired a Mini-14, but have found through personal experience that off 10X ring shots are invariably due to shooter proficiency rather than the rifle itself. And that goes for ANY long arm I've ever fired. Good video.

I wish you would have showed us you doing those groups. At the end of just about every Mini 30 or Mini 14 video the presenter says "that's not too bad. The gun is too expensive for what it does. People buy it because it looks like and M1 and they're Ruger fans.

I get 1.5 MOA. 16 inch barrel helps too.

thats some pretty good accuracy. honestly in a combat situation, it doesnt matter if u can put 5 rounds in a dime from a bench because u wont be shooting from a bench. u will be shooting off hand or prone, and ur only concern is hitting a man sized target within 100 yards or so.

It's great to see someone that gets it. When I take out new shooters I tell them the same thing. They are instantly more relaxed and they seem to shoot better. I really like having them shoot larger steel targets and explain to them that if you are hitting that steel, you are eliminating a threat. If people want to get into competition shooting or if they just want to shoot dime holes at a couple hundred yards.... that's great but it is not a necessity. Stay safe........ BTW, love the name.

The whole issue of mini14 accuracy is range.
A good 308 can hold a two inch group at 500 yeards. IN THE RIGHT HANDS. at 300 yards with my ranch rifle I can hold a 6 in. Group. Average shooter can't hold a 12 in. Group with the best snipers rifle. So get off the inaccuracies of the ruger, its probably much more capable than you.

    It is 7.11.2021
Should be a minimum of consistent 2 " group at 100 yards, that's right.
    2 "...
Cars get 30 and 40 mpg. Tribes last 40 too 60000 miles,
Women vote,we got fast mobile internet...
No reason not to have a Gun,a rifle, that is capable out of the box with out mods..
    Goddamn.
    Esp with good ammo.
    I know the standard,but.
    Be reasonable ,
5 groups of 3 shots at 100 yards.
Even if you vice it,at least we know it would have potential...
I bin thru the goddamn 8 dollar ruger barrels, the plucked up crowns,of set scope base milled into receiver, crooked front sight, bent barrels, broken extractors, frozen bolts, and the 1x10,1x7,1x9 twist barrels..
    It's out raged us..
It ain't a goddamn platform or system,
    It's supposed to be a rifle /carbine...
Double finger eye poke to the sorry turds that put those off on a gullible and ignert consumer.

I think alot of the hate on the mini comes from the tacticool folks these days...I think an AR*15 is better but I own a mini and like it more than an AR but that is just me...I do like the fact of being more under the radar as I am just not into the tactical stuff too much but understand that the tactical guns and stuff are generally overall better...

good shooting! You should get yourself a scope, I have the same problem with my eyes, but with a good scope, you can see past a 100 yards clearly with no problem.

I shoot my mini more than my ARs because it's just more fun. Don't do great at 100 yards with my old eyes. On the other hand I also have a scoped target model that will put them in there pretty good.

Wow all this accuracy talk and how it doesnt matter if your in a war? Really? Well for one I am not in a war and accuracy does mean a fair bit to me. I compete in PRS competition a few of my friends compete in the same and one of my buddies is a bench rest shooter who was on the Winning US team in the world shoot so YES accuracy is big in my world! When I bought my first Mini14 it was a folding stock by Ruger and I put a good piece of glass on it tried 5 different weight and mfg of ammo and Found nothing that would shoot below than 4" at 100 meters and most were in the 6" range, got rid of it. Few years later I found another one and it shot the same like crap! few years later I bought a new Mini30 thinking that maybe it would be better in a 30 cal., NOPE same old thing and I completely game up on the rifle! I have never owned a gun I wanted to like as much as the Mini and I am a big Ruger fan but I am done with that gun, I own many different rifles and my worst will print a minute at 100 not even close with my minis! Accuracy does matter a lot war or not!

Every rifle he owns shoots inch groups... Can I be you?
I'm getting 4 inch groups at 170 yards and smoking coyotes, left and right. It works just fine and doesn't spook the granola crunchers on my daily dog walk.
