Exactly, there's a little too much of a lob on it. Medvedev fed him a topspin-heavy shot and he had a hard time getting the right counter-spin to execute a "proper" drop shot. He usually gets it to glide about a foot high over the net. Carlos hits amazing drop shots but imagine how refined his technique will be in like, 5 years??
@@adamkoyn792 Looks like Carlos took a big swooping swipe underneath the ball and that created too much lift. If he had swipe more vertically down and deaden the swing, the trajectory would be lower. Medvedev is very fast and long so he'll still be able to get to most drop shots no matter what.
Because you need to buy a ticket lmao Tennis TV does release court level highlights on really good matches but for the full matches idk about that. Amazon prime sometimes did it for some atp 250-500 tourneys iirc but that may have just been as there was only one camera on those courts
Medvedev ruled the exchange, he was consistently aggressive and inside the court, making the Spaniard run around. At some point Alcararaz tried to change the pace with the drop shot, but he was indeed the furthest player from the net: never a good decision.
Most of the time to be efficient a dropshot have to be played when the opponent is "under pressure" ( making him go backward) then from in the court the drop shot is fully efficient. Alcaraz was quite far behind the base line ... Medy had time to react and azlca no time to follow on the net and close any angle. L :)

For real

That wasn't an Alcaraz droppa...that was a Medvedev bullying from the baseline & Alcaraz trying to get back in the pt.

Pro Tip : you can actually hit a cross court forehand with topspin and make no wailing sound whatsoever

Can someone explain, why they do sounds when they shoot
They breathe out and it’s for rhythm. In tennis timing is super important and this helps them especially when they’re playing for 3-4 hours
Because it's physically hard to hit a ball that is coming at you at such speeds, especially when you're doing this almost non-stop for 2-3 hours.
Thanks for your responses I didn’t knew about that
Those drop shots usually work for Alcaraz, but when you hit one that's not good, it's an easy put away for your opponent, as you saw.
Carlos got tired from getting moved around and the drop shot in this case was out of desperation to end the point.
The game looks much slow from this angle
This is what Medvedev will have to do in order to win against carlos
