As always, such great videos. You really allowed me to step up my understanding of the game and have so much more fun ! Keep up with the basic strategy guides, they are really helpful !
Yeah, I really like the Green/Lightning combo for how much it powers up their reclaim loop. Green is kind of absurd in general, though, with how much support they can give out just with Gift of Proliferation.
I really like your way of explaining your choice. It has made my so much better Spirit island player for sure. Hope you get way way way more views than what you currently have.
Absolutely, although I've been on a bit of a hiatus lately I'm afraid. I hope to finish every spirit in the digital version, and then figure out where to go after that based on what folk want to see.
I'd definitely be interested in any guides you make for Bringer of Dreams, Oceans hungry Grasp and Heart of the wildfire. Those are the three I've the hardest time getting used to working with. Dreams I have trouble with fear based ones in general, especially since he can't kill settlements. Ocean I always get killed with the reclamation cycling, just can't get a feel for it with it basically being 2 turns since you have to use a second growth after reclaiming to move presence back inland to attack anything. Feels like a dead turn every time I need to reclaim. And Heart of Wildfire I've just trouble with blight management in general. I've always been better at preventing blight than dealing with cascades and removing it.
Bringer and Ocean are up next, hoping to get them out soon! I'm not sure what order I'm planning for the Wildfire, Snake, Keeper, and Fangs yet, but I do intend to try and release something for all of them in the next month or two.
@@kalennoreth Fangs is the only one of those I'm any good with XD Maybe it's just his very aggressive mobile playstyle but he's actually easier for me than any of the other starter spirits. He's kinda reactionary in that you can just chase down the enemy rather than trying to predict ahead, following them around the board and being a general harasser without having to worry about dead zones and areas you have to choose between guarding.
This video was great too. Hope to see your strategies on some of the newer more complex spirits. Do you have a patreon? I'd gladly donate to hear your advice on some of the high level adversaries.
I'm currently working through spirits from low to high complexity in order of release, so some of the really fun ones from JE are pretty far out for that reason (I want more experience with some of them, too!) I don't currently have a patreon, but am definitely interested in putting out content for higher difficulty games. Mostly a question of time and priorities right now. Are you looking more for specific matchups (e.g, Green vs France 6), or general adversary advice?
@@kalennoreth That sounds awesome, looking forward to those videos, the crazier JE spirits still blow my mind. I've tried Starlight three times and I just can't grasp it haha. Was more so curious about general adversary advice, since usually levels 1-3 are fairly winnable most of the time, but the levels 4-6 can be so brutal especially with a spirit that struggles against them. But really whatever videos you think, I just love seeing strategy content for SI. My personal goal is to be able to beat each adversary with each spirit at least to level 4 before the new expansion comes out (the one being announced in October, not the Target one).... although maybe that's wishful thinking with the sheer volume of spirits.
very nice Green demo. It's way too easy to get trapped in how to grow yourself and others and not play things efficiently for board effect at the same time (like both moon powers should be used together to also get a town, etc).
I agree, it's definitely an easy trap to fall into. Green's innates do an amazing job of letting them interact with the board while stilling pushing down the accelerator, IF you can get the thresholds.
The problem with Spirit Island is, it's just too easy. We got the game last week and haven't lost a single game yet (playing with different spirit combos over six games with escalating difficulty in each successive game.) Disappointed to the max.
Sorry to hear you haven't liked it. Just in case, have you looked at the semi-commonly missed rules just to make sure you aren't accidentally making it easier? querki.net/u/darker/spirit-island-faq/#!Rules-semi-commonly-misplayed I know sometimes you just click with a game, but I've met very few people who think spirit island is too easy (usually the opposite).
@@kalennoreth Yeah, I'd already checked it, but thanks. Anyway, we lost for the first time today against Bradenburg-Prussia (Lvl 4 Blitz,) which felt much more rewarding (we're gaming masochists.)

Thank you for the kind words!
These videos are a straight gold mine for new players. Thank you! Hope to see more SI content.
Thank you! Should be more coming soon, hopefully!
These videos are so good. Wish there were more!

Glad to hear it! Next up is high complexity, so it's going to be interesting ;)
Your strategy videos are phenomal. Excellent structure and pacing aswell as smart but genuinely approachable reasoning. Thank you very much, Kalen.
Great idea to put Lightning in here as well! Really cool to see how much power they got from Green this game, compared to the solo Lightning video.

Love watching your videos. Appreciate the content!

Great series. Are you planning on expanding it?

@@kalennorethnow there's more spirits from Jagged Earth!
I think this is the exact pairing that my gf and I had for our second game, definitely very synergistic!
Nice! They do go very well together, and make for a good early combo.
