Thanks for posting! Your videos are great and provide a lot of helpful information. One thing to consider is that choosing the 3rd growth option on the 1st turn and playing Manifestation + Voice triggers the first level of Lead the Furious Assault. This would let you clear land 2 in the slow phase (four damage from Manifestation plus destroying the town), saving the defend card for the inland mountain. I'm not sure if this is optimal and it does prevent you from powering up, but it makes clearing land 2 and preventing the blight more attractive. I'm curious to know if you think this is a viable first turn when the ravage card matches a coastal city. I'm looking to improve my openings with Thunderspeaker and I appreciate your analysis!
I do have an openings video on the old channel that might be useful: ua-cam.com/video/f9zWmKWl-0U/v-deo.html if you've not seen it already? Wow it's old :D I'm planning on doing a new series on openings that will hopefully be a lot better than the old (partial) series. I challenged myself to beat England 6 so I ended up playing a lot against them with TS, a lot more than if I wasn't doing that challenge as I find TS really challenging. My general approach with TS is to go all bottom track and aim to Manifest every turn, but I don't play that much Thunderspeaker :D Edit: typos
The day this video goes public I'll be streaming Spirit Island over at twitch.tv/peasantSI (all vs England 6 this week!) from 2PM UK / Morning US. Be lovely to see you!
Your first move was really sus, your first instinct of clearing the city was the correct one if you were going to pick up 4 energy. You can clear that inland mountain with 1 energy next turn. Only reason to waste energy and potential growth is for the possibility to prevent explores, in this case, that is zero since there is a town adjacent. My first opening generally is to use place two presence growth option. It would have been worth the coastal mountain blight for that. That aside, great series 👍
Strangely I went top track because it felt like a simpler approach. I normally go bottom track only with Thunderspeaker! Thanks for the kind comment :D
Hey Dana! They're both pretty tricky honestly - some of the hardest solo spirits. (Though, arguably in basegame Thunderspeaker is one of the strongest spirits, they're by far the hardest to pilot (in my experience.)) Hope the video helps you get those first wins!
You could have had the win in teh fast phase. All you had to do was pull 1 Dehan into the wetland with the town. There was already one in there. You would do 2 damage to the town, which would give you the last Fear for TL II and take out the last town. You would win before the invaders got to build anything.

I can't seem to win wither either Thunderspeaker OR Earth solo. This video (and the comments below) has shown me some new strategies.

Final turn, can't you just reclaim and then play Lead the Furious Assault in the fast phase to win?
