I REALLY like this opening strategy. I've been playing the game for a little under a week now and I really couldn't figure this spirit out. I kept feeling like I was missing something about it's character. I think this short guide gave me a good idea going forward at how this spirit is supposed to operate. Thanks!
I like it a lot, and even more when there's an energy support like River in the game. Have had a couple of games where Shadows went pure bottom track and managed to do quite a lot (with some support).
Interesting tactic. The tactic I've heard most of for Shadows is to get 2 card plays and then focus top track while gaining minor powers so that you don't have to reclaim until turn 4. I've found that to be a hit or miss strategy depending on the cards you draw. Will have to try this method for sure!
I think this strategy relies less on RNG, but I could see the other strategy having more upside potential (drawing Lure of the Unknown or Growth Through Sacrifice and just winning). I do really like the fear from that second level innate though!
Really finding these basic strategy videos useful - thanks so much! We just got Spirit Island and these help us find our footing with the spirits originally. Are you planning on also doing them for the more complex base spirits (Rampant Green, Thunderspeaker, Ocean, Bringer of Dreams and Nightmares)? Would be really appreciated if you are!
Glad to hear they've been helpful! I am planning to do all the core game spirits, branch and claw, and promo pack 1 (so everything that's been released in digital so far). I will be trying to intersperse episodes about the event deck, however, so the next one I make will be one of those.
The best thing in this video is that, even though the game ended fast, you analyzed how our strategy would proceed from that point on involving growth options and powers gained
I play physical with friends and family somewhat often, although nowhere near as much as I play the digital version. If you're asking about TTS, I don't really play on it, no.

Glad to hear it helped! I love Shadows, but they can be prone to falling into traps where they have no energy or no cards or both.
Really the video. I’ve never really considered going growth three twice to 3 card plays. Getting the level 2 innate turn 3 in solo is snazzy!

@@kalennoreth do you have a top few favorite list for the 1st Spirit Island? This original that you showed

Thank you!!
I would have use Darkness Swallows on the Explorer in Land 8, because Mantle of Dread could push the other one *and* its town out of Land 5
Great video, thank you! 😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you Kalen

You're welcome! Sometimes the games just resolve early, but (especially with adversaries) it's good to have a plan to continue.
These are great! Take my sub!
Glad you like them, there's more to come!
@@kalennoreth Fantastic! Especially looking forward to the Serpent :)
Do you play the table version?

@@kalennoreth not TTS. The physical ver is what I meant. Cool!
