Looks like '61 was a good year for creating little car customizers LOL I've got a little too much on my bench right now for my liking...and the Winter in the Wastelands 3 hasn't even appeared there yet lol I think I'm going another K-7 build for it this year...but I've gotta get that and about five or so other castings that I see going into it...maybe? lol Always fun! Came out great. Love the seatbelts. Appreciate the matte clear advice on decals.White was the right choice for the tires for that era. Less details are usually a cleaner outcome. Enjoyed as always!

Great again! Reminds me that I once had a diecast '64 Ford Galaxy in a very similar Nascar look. It was one of those Coke small series that was available at Toys R Us back then. What impresses me the most are the seat belt decals! Maybe I'm too old-fashioned, but I couldn't imagine such a really small detail being waterslided. It's amazing what's possible these days. The dechroming of the wheels is also very nice. This gives it an even more authentic sixties racing look. I thought for a moment that a slightly larger rollcage wouldn't be bad, but that's actually how they drove back then. Unimaginable today.
Thanks so much Fritz! Those darn little seat belt decals are really fun - they added so much to the interior and I'm thrilled with them. As you said about the rollcage, unimaginable today is so true! It's like players wearing leather helmets in U.S. football.

Those darn little decals are getting more and more exciting...of course, it could also be the combination of (a) decals getting smaller, (b) my fingers getting fatter and less flexible, and (c) me really needing to get an upgraded rx for my glasses, but putting them on a casting is a real adventure LOL It's weirdly fun to throw them on a build and see the car you had in mind "appear" before you. Sweet! Love the casting and all the subsequent choices. So in my mind, I was screaming white wheels, white wheels, white wheels. You executed brilliantly. This one says ‘60’s to me, and to load it with decals would have been a disservice. Well done and thank you.

Jim, I really love this build. I love Cobras and to see how true you were to Carroll Shelby’s vision and NASCAR’s heritage at the same time was a treat. Yeah, I can definitely see the temptation to make the wheels red, but I believe the white works just as well. Great video as always, and a great journey. 👍👍👍🤟🏼

the old castings also have the advantage of usually not-heavily-tinted windows. XD
I was thinking of red wheels with white rings, but all-white is probably way more authentic.

Old joke. Told to me by 2 of my H.S. English teachers on a field trip. Teacher 1:" Scientists have created the meanest animal in the world. Alligator head on 1 end, Crocodile on the other! Teacher 2: So how does it crap? T 1: Why do you think its the meanest animal in the world?" Must be a mean racer as you detailed the intakes but not the exhaust tips! That's what made me think of the joke! I know your car never existed, but it looks so right it should've or could've. All the details seem authentic! Please promise me for a Halloween or Ed Roth build you will paint a car in "Spectrapain Fink"😂 (I do one of those a month over the mic at work 99.99% missed by my audience but crack me up when I hear what I just said inadvertantly!) Have with your toys (Including Goat sound FX!)
Thanks David! I'm having a LOT of fun with that goofy goat LOL About the intake/exhaust detail diff - that's easy. They put holes in the casting for the intake but not on the exhaust, so Jim (who can't paint a small round dot to save his life) followed the Hot Wheels lead lol. I'm about to do a faux Spectraflame blue...and with my little rattle cans, they're always Spectrapain paint jobs LOL Have a great weekend!

I haven't tried them. After seeing your message, I did a search and saw the Flex-I-File system - I'm guessing that's what you had in mind. It looks pretty interesting! Thanks!
What if you painted the inner door panels red??
If I had been just doing a custom in white, without trying to be a 60's NASCAR build, red interior door panels, or even red seats, would have really popped. It's a fight sometimes on this kind of build, trying to avoid the "it would look so cool with..." and keeping the target of old NASCAR in mind lol
I have a problem with the doors on my Lexus LFA Matchbox Collectors Edition. They won't close completely. Is there a way to repair a diecast car's door back into it's original place?
Naturally it depends upon what's wrong with the doors. I've repaired some...and had some where it would have been WAY too much work to do if it would even work...and I've seen others do the repairs. If it really bothers you, you might want to give repairing it a try.
I need another person who is an expert on repairing these diecast vehicles with me, otherwise, things can go really wrong if I do it on my own. I'm not ready for that yet.
