the main area of concern in any fish pond/aquarium is oxygen ratio per koi/fish. the large rocks act as heat absorbers. during the night the rocks are cold due to temperature drops at night. lot of pond plants will also provide shade and deflect sun light to the pond surface. i lived in AZ for ten years glendale and luke AFB few years back. right now i have a backyard 7' x 4' x 3' deep pond/aquarium. you can see on my youtube video "how to cool your koi pond" it also shows the solar power set up running 24/7
Hello. I've read that in Arizona in July and August evaporation from pond can get up to 3 inches per Day. I saw your pond its got a lot of Stones. Does the Stones suck water and got a bigger evaporation efect?! Thanks
I have a tiny little koi pond in my back yard in the East Valley. I'd like to get some pond plants to provide shade and cover for my small koi for the hot summer months. What would be the best plan to get, and where can I get it. My local nursery has large koi pond, with lots of different plants in it, but they don't sell the pond plants.
@@ralphbiezad534 I live here in Golden Valley AZ. It snows here sometimes. During winter the temperature drops to the 20's F. But during summer the Temp goes up to 100 to1115's F.

How big does the pond need to be for koi ?
Do you do any work in Yuma?
I'm from saudi arabia and I will build one like this in my house. Any recommendations?

How about a pond that keeps trout? Can that be done in the desert?
Jason Vincent good question but unfortunately not in the Phoenix area. Trout need much cooler water temps.
You would need a chiller for trout
Thanks for the info. I'm in the Phoenix area, what is your contact info?
