Another big tip I was given from my coach would be pulling down your guiding arm (non swinging arm), like pulling down a rope to ring a church bell (can't think of other examples lol). That also helps give torque for your hip rotation hence more spike power. Following through your spike (finishing the swing into your torso) will also give you more power. You could see on 6:10 the hitter uses his left arm to guide and aim, then pulls down. The thumbnail transitioning into the video in the preview was crazy, and keep it up!!
Big tip: Idk if most people know that, but when spiking there are lots of things you can do to get that strength. First, the basic -As you said, just throw your guiding arm down. 2nd Use your hips -To spike, we kinda transform our arms on whips, try imagining all the energy you generate from each movement being gradually transfered to your hand, which is the last point and also where all the energy will be realeased into the ball. The movement will start with your hips, when you jump, you should be a little bit sideways to the net, knowing that just "throw" the side of your hip so it gets more parallel to the net (its hard to explain, you can see professionals doing that) 3rd: The hip movement should follow until the next step, your arm -In the arm part: you should have you spiking arm completely pulled back, you will throw your arm behind your neck and throw your elbow in front of you with all your strength, your forearm (and consequently you hand) will follow the movement, and then its the part where you hit the ball. The only thing you SHOULD keep in mind, is that your movement should be as efficient as possible. That means that you should focus on not wasting or dissipating any of the energy you generated. I know its hard to understand, but, trust me, its even harder to explain. Specially not having any way to show examples.
Forgot to say it on my last comment: If you wish to go pro, dont focus on blasting the ball into the 3rd meter line, try learning how to give it direction, read blockers, learn to see the other team defense and decide where to spike. When you learn all that, try combining it with power, and then you will be a heck of a spiker
Not to be annoying, absolutely love and appreciate the vid, just a note to avoid confusion. The E=mc^2 bit is true as in faster = more energy, but that's E=1/2*mv^2. E=mc^2 is about things at the speed of light.
Keep up the good videos man. Im relatively new to volleyball and trying to perfect my timing and power on spikes. I can reach my whole hand over the net while standing but still can't reliably transfer all my power into the hits. I really liked your thumbnail as well as the way you presented your tips keep it up. We have the same name too so I had to sub xD
@@TheOnlyJosiah. Nah you stole mine ahahaha I'm playing as much as I can and slowly its coming together, I just get frustrated that when it feels like im finally getting my timing down, my approach breaks down and im not getting full explosiveness on my last 2 steps, or my approach is good but i'll contact with fingers or wrist instead of proper hand with loose wrist. It feels like theres always 1-2 aspects missing from my spikes even if I hit clean, but if I master all of them at once, ill be on my ushijima shit
Please continue to put the yellow subtitles in your next videos , Im French and I don’t really understand the English but the subtitles help me a lot 🙏❤️
As a right handed spiker, how important is it for the approach to be left right left. I do right left right because that’s what feels comfortable to me but I’m wondering if that reduces the amount of torque I get
Step number 1 would be to find a good setter. you cant practice timing and run up when every set is different. You would be amazed what a good setter can do. And no I don't play setter 😁
you should probably use clips in game when showcasing the skill you're trying to show people how to achieve, hitting lines are very much a non-comparable situation to in-game, tho the vid is really good
I think you should train as much as possible on a regular basis, every day or every 2 days. Personally, I played volleyball with my school club about once or twice a week in 11th grade before trying out for the team this year, so I couldn't specifically advise you on that. That being said, I think it is a very techinical sport so I think you should work on improving your skills even 30 minutes every day is way better than 2 hours 2 times a week. Also work on your athletism at least twice a week because it will make you more powerful on the court.
its F = m* a F: Force m: mass a: velocity and the formular E = mc^2 describes that all bodies that have mass have a corresponding energy. it more explains how small particales can release such enormous amounts of energy like atoms can when they are undergoing fusion or fission (aka. why atomic bombs release so much energy) It is very watered down but you get the general idea. It also kinda explains the movement of energy in the spacetime realm which would go a little bit too far into physics rn, but thats why c is squared.
great tips, neat editing and all, but... so much 'filler' stuff in your script that makes it really hard to watch. you could've cut out 25% and still conveyed the exact amount of information imo
this video was really helpful thank you, i was wondering if you had any social media i could reach you on and ask further questions if you're willing to, im really just trying to do anything i possibly can to improve my game

the way the thumbnail turned into the first clip was pretty sick
Dawg that thumbnail trick you used is absolutely fire🫶🏿😍
Thanks, I really like it too it makes the character stand out more
bro, how do you not have like 100 of thousands of subs, like your editing, teaching style, tips are like top tier bro
lol im starting out bro 💀🙏🏿 but soon trust, and thanks bro i appreciate it

yea i made a mistake there
@@TheOnlyJosiah.I thought it was a funny joke.
You used the wrong equation for energy, but nitpicking asside, great video!
E=mc^2 is more commonly used for quantum as c-=the speed of light, a better alternative for the formula is E=1/mv^2, which is for kinetic energy.
happy to see somebody not talking bs and actually giving GOOD advice
This man dragged me into a cycle of videos that will help me get better. Thanks so much dude!
no problem!
@@TheOnlyJosiah. Do you think you could make a video on timing, like when to go for the hit and how to angle for offsets

Thanks for the tips :))

Thank you from South Korea.
can you please make a specialised video about timing? it'll help amateurs a lot
love ur content!!! pretty good tips!
but try to light up the ambient before filming, it helps the quality of your cam!
American players :🙂🔥

lol japannn
Great content bro!
thanks!

This was very helpful! Thank you
holy i love you PLEASE KEEP MAKING CONTENT KEEP IT UP ULL BE BIG BRO
YES
This video helped me so much I can now bounce the ball 30-50 meters more higher now and I am a short spiker lmfao Keep it up bro ❤❤🙏🙏
thank u sm, bro. u'll help me a lot on my journey
Please do one for setting too!
ill think about it
thank you for the nice tipps

keep working 💪🏿

God Bless you brother

Im spiking with my right hand, but I also finish with my right foot while stepping. Does this cause any problems?
wait how does that work lmao
If you’re right handed, your approach should finish with your left foot
Yo bro good video whered u get ur chain thoo
i got it from a friend
You mean force = mass x acceleration. The c in e=mc^2 is the speed of light
yes
BRO REALLY USED EINSTEIN IN VOLLEYBALL
How many hours a day do you train to become a d1 athlete

Am I cooked as a 5’7 outside?
up to you bro, cook or be cooked 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Never seen e=mc^2 used like that before
Yea I think F = ma would've been better
bros head is also getting over the top of the next too
how tall r u bro, cuz I'm 5'8 and am trying to spike
What is hard for you when spiking?
You say your plant foot is a jump pad but the arrow points to the block foot.
True, I meant the block foot, because it is what controls your horizontal or vertical movement
like for the thumbnail transition
saw this vid and thought it was a old account😂
step 1: use gravity to your advantage
smart smart
How tall are you?
Ur from quebec??
yes
Still waiting for new content man❤
Dropping today or tomorrow at most 🙌🏿🙌🏿
step 1: jump high, step 2: watch video 😭😭
lol don't worry, you can learn to jump high too
lol dude. F=ma, not E=mc2. Thanks for the video
Yea lol i made a mistake there, thanks for clarifying it 👌🏿
E=mv^2/2. You need kinect energy, not resultant force.
1 step: jump over the net.
Me 1,65m 😢
2 inches is a lot, as confirmed here
For the power of the swing, isn’t it P=mass*speed?
Probably something like that, after uploading I realized the formula may be flawed, but as long as you get the point, I think it's alright 👍🏿
Velocity* speed doesnt have a direction
its F = m* a
F: Force
m: mass
a: velocity
