Yes, as mentioned, we know what ya meant. Thank you so very much for all of your valuable tips. I’m gonna say in a regular comment how much priceless info is in all of your videos. I take more from your little concept vids than I did from the lifetime membership I bought from a different guy. So thank you thank you. I plan to buy a real lesson soon from you man. Thanks again.
Lots of teachers talk about these shapes. None of them make them sound so melodically beautiful like you do. Thanks for these videos man. It's a joy to watch, and hear you play.
What you call "just sitting here and playing" might take most of us the better part of a decade to learn, so please, Sir, keep these nuggets coming, and thank you very much from Berlin, Germany!
Playing guitar for 20+ years now. Nothing has improved my playing more than Guthrie’s videos in the last couple of months …Beyond gratefull brother 🙏🏻 Thank you so much
Your videos are GOLD!! I’ve been playing for over 30 years. I can learn songs and play them well. I can even shred a little bit, but playing over changes and having something to say is something I’ve always struggled with. The way you break things down in your lessons is helping me tremendously! I’m starting to connect the dots on in a way that’s always seemed elusive in the past. This is practical theory that every guitar player should know. You’re an excellent teacher. Thank You!!
Sick lesson GT! …fwiw I got a lacrosse ball to roll out the knots in my back when I sleep funny and it’s a life changer literally! I never travel without it
You break things down to something that someone of my level can really see...I add another piece to the puzzle every time I watch you, in another 20 years I'm gonna be awesome.
1968. Washington U field house in St. Louis. Standing to the side when a beautiful blonde came up to me and handed me a flower. I stood there for a short time with my eyes closed smelling the flower. I got the feeling I was being watched. I opened my eyes and a man was standing in front of me smiling. He was enjoying the moment also (I think he witnessed the whole thing). He then got up on stage- it was Taj ( it was great) and Jesse Ed Davis was incredible.
Maybe the best most useful lesson yet, after hundreds of best most useful. Huge thanks for this one, all previous, and those yet-to-come. Don't worry about using CAGED terminology. It's lingo that we all should know and allows instant visual focus and finger memory recall of the shapes. CAGED is based on first position chords which are the first things we learn -- now we learn how to carry it up the neck. Simple fact: this is how you play the guitar. It's style agnostic -- here's where the notes are -- you can do whatever you want with them. Thanks again Guthrie!
Been watching these lessons while holding my newborn. Hardly have time to pick up the guitar but when I do my whole mind frame of how I approach the guitar has changed because of these videos. These are the best lessons out there. Thank you so much Guthrie
If I saw you at a bar with your thumb in a bucket of ice, my first thought would probably be, "Ah, that must be his REAL secret...." In all seriousness, glad your injured thumb isn't holding things up too badly. I love moving the C-shape around the neck and I'm always trying to imply the chord changes wherever it makes sense to; you mapped it all very nicely and gave us another (and for me easier!) way to approach it all. One of these day I'm gonna get a lesson booked with you for sure. Thanks for sharing!
When I first started watching your videos here in the past 6 weeks or so since you started doing these in earnest, I was so lost. You’ve made me ask so many questions and go figure out the answers for myself. I woke up last night thinking about this shit in my sleep from the seeds these videos have planted!
Huge fan of the concept that ‘lead and rhythm’ are one in the same. My songwriting has grown drastically and been able to do more with one backing guitar by hybrid picking my rhythms like this than I did with 5 layers before.
Listening to my heros all my life and then one day I woke up and just noticed how old they all got. But these days, we watch our heros everyday and see them have aches and pains in real time. You're getting old Guthrie and you're falling apart.😄 Just keep track of the pieces. Somebody'll make sure they all get in the same box in the end.✌
Some viewers expect you to be "all things to all people". They need to remember that you are producing and delivering this content completely free of charge. I'm more than happy to take what I can (from a world class player) and leave the rest. This means that not every second of every video is the best thing I've ever seen on YT. And that's fine by me! I've learned a ton over the last 2-3 years and continue to learn plenty. Does it get any better? Thank you Guthrie.
Cool rehearsal vid. I did that once, closed the car door (completely) on my thumb. Couldn’t believe it fit in that small crack! Never did it again though 😀
Bro. Thanks so much for another SOLID teaching. I play piano and guitar by ear. I need instruction to get to the next level of guitar. Been trying to decide whose teaching I will benefit the most from. I think I'm about to register to get your lessons. You speak the language I understand. Thanks again
I just wanted to say that I've been following your channel for over a year and you are constantly improving as a teacher! I appreciate your explanation of 'why' things work and the link to theory. I know sometimes you apologize for talking theory - but it is really helpful!
Thanks GT , another great lesson, I did the exact same thing to my thumb....ouch!,,,,had to open the door with my right hand to bust it loose....YOUR fingers are very important ,,be careful.:-)...thanks again for such great content,,,your keeping me motivated,,,,,immediate results with skills improving,,,,mental picture coming together on these cage shapes.....Muchas Gracias!!!
Thank you Guthrie...I so look forward to watching your videos and learning...not to mention hearing you play. I can't wait to hear more of these studio things you've got going.
Guthrie, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Your videos have always been awesome but the latest ones are above and beyond. Lots of teachers are teaching technique, you are teaching us how to become better musicians. Thanks so much
Well, I hear people talk about how well you play and listening to you is very nice. I could definitely grab a beer and just listen But, not sure I can learn in this way, it’s going by way too fast and over my head I think any of us would like to have your skills; very smooth
Then when you get the 1-4-5 down in that shape move to the next shape. 1-4-5 in the same key. Before you know it you'll be playing all over the neck. This guy changed my playing for sure
I totally appreciate all the hard work you have put in to help me learn this cool way of playing , Im a guy that new all his scales but played vertically without triads, noodling style , watching your vids at first without putting in work was me at first listening to you preach and thank god you did I started about month ago daily relearning everything at first I almost smashed everything I was so frustrated but I tell you its working everyday a little better and I could swear your speaking right to me in these vids lol your the best in my opinion with a great sense of humour and one day when I get some cash I promise to hit that tip jug I feel like I'm stealing almost ha but yea thank you very much again G.T
I just joined your artist works site Guthrie. Man brother, where were you forty years ago? Don’t answer that 😂. I am not a beginner but not wanting to miss something important, I started at the beginning of your course and don’t regret it. Great course so far and I am sure it will only get better as I progress through it. 🙏🏻
Been through your AW course my man, just starting to freely flow between the chords. At the moment I have to have next upcoming chord in my brain way before I get there 😂🤟🎸
I still wonder if Guthrie is even Human ! Cause he plays guitar like a God !! A whole nother dimension he is on from the average player .. A Fan for Life , from Texas !
I once slammed my finger in the car door as well. What you didn't mention was it hurt even more when I opened the door and the blood was able to rush into my finger!
I meant to say *Relevance* not that made up word that doesn’t exist 😎
We know what you meant. 😉👍
Yes, as mentioned, we know what ya meant. Thank you so very much for all of your valuable tips. I’m gonna say in a regular comment how much priceless info is in all of your videos. I gotta add I bought the other thing before I knew about your fantastic teaching abilities. So I apologize
Maybe you had Revelator Guitars on your mind.
made up words are the best words!!
It took him a decade to learn as well, if not more. Keep practicing and you'll get wherever you want
Playing guitar for 20+ years now. Nothing has improved my playing more than Guthrie’s videos in the last couple of months …Beyond gratefull brother 🙏🏻
Thank you so much
Agreed! It’s the way he breaks it down simply for me
Dude after I realized you guys just play chord shapes up and down the board it has completely changed the way I look at guitar, for the better. Thanks
Your channel is gold dude 😎
He sure knows how to dumb it down for me. My playing has improved a lot.
The "Great Communicator" strikes again. Beautiful, many thanks for these wonderful breakdowns. Hope the thumb heals fast. Take care.
“Round is a shape” that’s awesome…..
Great stuff! I am coming to vist my daughter in Nashville in October. I hope to catch one of your shows.

So cool that you are close with Billy Gibbons. In my opinion he’s done some of the sweetest guitar work ever. You as well.
Sick lesson GT! …fwiw I got a lacrosse ball to roll out the knots in my back when I sleep funny and it’s a life changer literally! I never travel without it
This is also a really good workout for finger independence, which I just realized I do not possess.
You break things down to something that someone of my level can really see...I add another piece to the puzzle every time I watch you, in another 20 years I'm gonna be awesome.
Thanks! I needed a refresher on this. Great ending to the video. Funky tunes.

Thanks Guthrie, very much appreciated.
GT is as legit as it gets. And a phenomenal teacher.

Great information my friend all good this fantastic thanks again!
These nuggets keep my guitar on my lap. Priceless inspiration.
Been watching these lessons while holding my newborn. Hardly have time to pick up the guitar but when I do my whole mind frame of how I approach the guitar has changed because of these videos. These are the best lessons out there. Thank you so much Guthrie
Beautiful!!! Reminds me of Ry Cooder and Jim Dickinson Across The Border Line.
There was a lot of Jerry Donahue influence in that intro, and the B-bender licks (with not a B-bender in sight!) were excellent.
If I saw you at a bar with your thumb in a bucket of ice, my first thought would probably be, "Ah, that must be his REAL secret...."

Mighty fine guitar picking there Mr. Trapp !
Wow! What a player!
Always a pleasure to hear you play, instruct and drop nuggets.
One of the greatest ever ! I am always learning something from you.
Golden ones .

Wow man some of that sounds straight off a Knopfler album!
Been watching you for years, and that might be one of the best intros you have ever done. Killer concepts, and sound! The chops never end. Damn!!!
I've learned soooooo much from your videos on UA-cam these past few years.... It's really satisfying .... Thanks ....
You always have a consistent message. Repetition. Thank you so much!
Some viewers expect you to be "all things to all people". They need to remember that you are producing and delivering this content completely free of charge. Invaluable economy. Brilliant. I left full bar chords long ago in the band.
The last couple of videos, you've just really brought so many things together in exactly the way I needed to hear them. Thank you so much!!
Cool rehearsal vid. I did that once, closed the car door (completely) on my thumb. Couldn’t believe it fit in that small crack! Never did it again though 😀

Hey 👋
Another good one👍
I can take this for a long ride. 😊
Regards
Thanks for throwing in clip in studio with john etc - cool stuff
Thx Guthrie. I’d love to visit Nashville, someday.👍🎸
Friend, you are more appreciated than you can imagine. God bless you, GT!! The band sounds great, btw!!!
Cool lil lesson thank you
Nice Danocaster, Guthrie. That neck pickup is outstanding.
I just wanted to say that I've been following your channel for over a year and you are constantly improving as a teacher! I appreciate your explanation of 'why' things work and the link to theory. I know sometimes you apologize for talking theory - but it is really helpful!
Perfect lesson. A lot to grab onto without getting stuffed!! Thanks!!
The videos are getting better all the time ........... keep em coming!
Sunday morning?!
Man, it's Friday here now, i can't believe I've gotten so far behind on my GT videos!
Solid, gold, as always, Guthrie!
The right lesson at the right time for me. I really like your approach expanding off of caged shapes. Best wishes in your musical endeavors!
Very helpful.thank you.
Thanks Guthrie, even when you've got a sore back and just got up you play amazing
Thanks Guthrie, I kinda know most of this stuff but it's nice to see you fly through it to refresh my few remaining brain cells. Cheers!
Sounds awesome Guthrie! Love the tone of those triad’s! Fantastic playing!! Thanks for the tips! 👏👏👍🎸🎶😃

‘Round is a shape’, I laughed hard at that bro! Dig you much Guthrie, thank you, thank you!
Always entertaining, never boring. Much respect Guthrie...
Guthrie, thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us. Your videos have always been awesome but the latest ones are above and beyond. Lots of teachers are teaching technique, you are teaching us how to become better musicians. Thanks so much
Thank you Guthrie! Always appreciative of your help. 😀🙏
I can hear those Gibson P90s at the end! Awesome.
Thanks, Guthrie 🙏
Great lesson, fantastic behind the scenes at the studio
Be good to you 🤍💛
Great job teaser man !!! Love y’a !
Well, I hear people talk about how well you play and listening to you is very nice. I could definitely grab a beer and just listen
But, not sure I can learn in this way, it’s going by way too fast and over my head
I think any of us would like to have your skills; very smooth
Round IS a shape!!! Good stuff. Thank you!!!!
Thank you for this !
what I pulled out of it was your switching between major triads and 7ths on each root. it's a nice sound I need to incorporate.
New ideas 💡 inspired 💪💪💪
Always good stuff Guthrie! Love your tone . Thanks for the lesson
That intro was sweet!
You are great player. Oh those bends.
You play so well ... congratulations and thank you !
I have also done the car door trick. I feel your pain. Great playing and teaching as usual. Thank you for your lessons.
You guys sound great.👏
Wonderful intro today. I know they always are but this one I liked especially. Didn't miss the pick at all.
Really enjoyed this. Great phrasing. Thanks
I just joined your artist works site Guthrie. Man brother, where were you forty years ago? Don’t answer that 😂. I am not a beginner but not wanting to miss something important, I started at the beginning of your course and don’t regret it. Great course so far and I am sure it will only get better as I progress through it. 🙏🏻
Same!
You won’t be disappointed
No pick?
That’s my style! Awesome
All of your content is gold.
Now THAT'S the truth!
exactly the lesson i needed today! Thanks for spreading the magic
Really like your Vox Super beetle !( i have the Brit flag face one ! I gig with mine )
Haha when he said his back is killing him, I LOL, felt like I was in the room with him! Guthrie is a beast!
I've taken stuff from Guthrie, Josh, and Papa.....man oh man, living is easy 😎😎🎸🎸
you are golden
So melodic terrific playing 🙌🎸🎶👏
Been through your AW course my man, just starting to freely flow between the chords. At the moment I have to have next upcoming chord in my brain way before I get there 😂🤟🎸
I still wonder if Guthrie is even Human ! Cause he plays guitar like a God !! A whole nother dimension he is on from the average player .. A Fan for Life , from Texas !
Hey it be cool a video on your right hand on this. Are you using your ring finger? What's your go-2 finger pick?
Thanks man, its pretty much the 3 note cage system.....1,3,5 of the 1,4,5 chords in the same area, with the pentatonics on top for lead or noodling
Beautiful playing 😎😎
This is the good stuff thanks brother Trapp.
I like when you play finglestyle.
Top stuff!
I once slammed my finger in the car door as well. What you didn't mention was it hurt even more when I opened the door and the blood was able to rush into my finger!
You are amazing!!! Thank you!!
