The Sorrows of Young Werther to go (Goethe in 9.5 minutes, English version)

- When Goethe published his epistolary novel THE SORROWS OF YOUNG WERTHER in 1774, he not only launched his second big literary success, but also initiated a veritable "Werther lifestyle". Unfortunately, the young men didn't restrict themselves to imitate their hero, but quite a number of them also committed suicide for reasons of broken heart... I sincerely hope this compact and entertaining summary by Michael Sommer and his Playmobil cast won't have the same consequences. DISCLAIMER: WATCHING THIS VIDEO DOES NOT REPLACE READING THE BOOK. My recommendation: Read it yourself.

Goethe really managed to capture the feeling of unrequited love so well.
Yea, this is why it’s highly recommended for anyone to avoid the same fate as Werther. So, do not end up like him.
He broke someone heart then moved away but can’t take it when someone does it to him. Whatever you put out will come back to you.
I found Albert's acting a little stiff.
😂😂😂
My favorite scene of this story is when Lotte cuts the rye bread for each of the children according to their age and appetite. Very heart-warming :)
Thank you for making profound works of literature easier to understand for the world.
Greetings from Japan!

If you could do Faust in English I would really appreciate it! :)
Amazing job👍 I'll recommend it to my friends!
Sad to see people were still getting friend zoned back in the 1700's. Poor Werter
Oh, I didn't know that expression "to friend zone so." ... ;-) Thanks a bunch!

"My name is Kloppstock."
When I read that, I had absolutely no idea what it meant. Now that I watched the video, it made sense that he was quoting the contemporary literature. It is a wonderful read. It really portrays infatuation very well.
This is extraordinary! Great job!!!

Imagine the plot twist should Fräulein B. have showed up instead of Lotte
German guys do have a sense of humour indeed
Some cooler/more worthwhile stuff was skipped but, still, well done

"Running around barefoot like in Africa" lol 1:33
Africa is a whole continent. not everyone is barefoot ... besides that; good review!
Sorry, my irony doesn't seem to have been marked enough. I intended to point out the colonial, patronising perspective Werther has on the "lovely poor people" in Wahlheim
I kek'd.
wow, nice one, man
@@SommersWorldLiteratureToGo Don't worry, I got it.
(I'm Czech, though, which may have something to do with it.)
why be so annoying
