Good video, btw, as Certified applicator for Cerakote, you don’t need to worry about getting ANY chemical on properly applicated Cerakote as it is chemical resistant. Better than nitride, nickel boron, blueing, and any other finish. I actually use acetone to wipe my guns down with after working on them. I’ve had Ceracoat wipe right with solvents as mild as 99% iso when degreasing scope base holes on a Bergara. I’m happy some people have success with it but I’m don’t with it.

I’d be happy to do something small for you free of charge, because when done properly, it just doesn’t happen. Prep is a huge part of the finished product.

If you are leaving the bead sight on? You should drill a bottom hole where the bead sight can sit inside the base of the ramp front. That way the JB weld can form around the bead sight making it even stronger. I did this install on a barrel that had been cut down to 18 inch, so no bead sight. I used JB weld and after cured, I drilled through the sight and barrel. And then taped the hole and counter sunk the hole for the head of a very small bolt. So the bolt is hiding under the blade of the Mossberg ramp sight. I then blended the end of the bolt into the barrel and you see nothing but barrel looking into the end of the barrel. Overall it looks factory.
@@leatherneckprepper4477 , Hahahahahahah. I have a XS front sight for Mossberg on another 500, but only the front. It’s the Winged ghost ring banded night sight. It pairs very well with the Mossberg rear ghost ring. And with that front sight there is no problem with having to use JB or silver solder, because you just bolt it on. Pricey though, Brownells sells the front by itself or as a set with XS rear ghost ring.
It's *NOT* an AOW (any other weapon) AOW is still an NFA item and would require registration and a $5 tax stamp It's simply classified as a *"FIREARM"*

I’m doing a video on home made sloppy joes this afternoon. One thing I never see preppers talk about is stocking up on gun cleaning supplies. Extra springs and firing pins for your guns. Today at the local Kroger’s I saw almost no bacon, very few potatoes and holes all over the fresh produce isle.

You should have removed the brass bead before installing the front sight. That would allow you to position the front sight to within 1/4" of the end of barrel per Mossberg's specs.
For a short range boomstick like a Shockwave, why would you even need an adjustable ghost ring and front sight post set like that? For all of that you could have just gotten a 590 with a shoulder stock.

It also wouldn’t matter, the whole purpose was to show how to put sites on if you didn’t don’t want to take it to a gunsmith. So the way I did it could be done on a 590 as well.

I’m not telling you to do that though, it’s what I did and had success. . Doctor wants me to wait a bit longer before I take that kind of abuse. Will be nice because I’ll be able to get back into shape and loose this weight. 2 and a half months ago I couldn’t even walk.

You could but you’re going to be aiming very high if you did. I would go ahead and just put the front site on. Just make sure you let it dry for at least 24 hours on a level surface. The one I put on my first Mossberg is slightly off center or watt he would consider to be candid.

I'll be interested to see the follow up video showing the JB weld will bond to cerakote after a few hundred rounds of 12g recoil.
So far after 10 years on my other 590 it’s held great.
If Mossberg had just drilled a hole through the top with a screw to go into the bead hold this would have been so much simpler.....

Good information to know, I still haven’t had any issues with the way I’ve used it though.
I believe the set screw takes a .050” Allen wrench.
To be honest I never even really pay attention I just go through my Allen wrenches until I find one that fits.
