Guitar: 2003 Andrea Tacchi "Omaggio a Francisco Simplicio" SP/SW - www.guitarsalon.com/product/2...
Here's Mircea Gogoncea performing Stanley Myers' "Cavatina" from the movie "The Deer Hunter". Mircea recorded it on a 2003 Andrea Tacchi "Omaggio a Francisco Simplicio" classical guitar made with spruce top and satinwood back and sides. Recorded at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA.
Huge thanks to the folks at Apogee Electronics (ApogeeDigital.com) for the use of their Ensemble interface in these recordings.

Mă bucur tare mult să ascult și un român la GSI și încă într-o interpretare atât de sensibilă și de grațioasă a Cavatinei... Mulțumesc cu inima toată!
Now that is a proper face to go with that gorgeous, lovely piece of music!
And oh my, that Guitar!
Great guitar playing. I wish GSI would return to the format when there wasn't any spoken introduction by the guitarist.
Con alma y corazón!
Mircea!!!!!!!!
Geez...Andrea's instruments continue to impress me. Have heard this Simplicio model is particularly rare too.
Thank you ❤️
Bravo! Superbe!
BRAVO! This song is almost impossible for even most professional guitar players to get down & learn to play right. That is how complicated this song is. BRAVO!!!
😍 hermosa interpretación!

This solo guitar version transcribed by John Williams is technically demanding. In order for the techniques not getting in the way of musicality, i.e., the melody needs to be separated from the accompanying arpeggios (harmony). The melody must also breathe on its own, i.e, the phrasing must lead the harmony and not the other way around. Tempo is not as subjective as one may think. The movie "The Deer Hunter" scene, in which this piece was chosen as the background music, suggested a melancholy, hapless mood, hence, a slower melodic flow (cavatina=operatic aria) might well better serve its original intent. This performance is technically well played but the melody needs to breathe!!
