As a Bionicle fan from the first series of Toa, there's a hilarious, spot-on beauty to this that actually brought a tear to my eye. 10 points, my friend. 10 points.

The Mata Nui Online Game, (MNOG)
It was one of the first games made for the franchise so you don't need to do a shit ton of research before playing to make sense of it, everything is explained as you play and talk to people
By modern standards, it's basically a walking simulator with a couple of super basic point and click puzzles but it does what it does extraordinary well: build atmosphere and give the characters some real charm
Those really are the best words for it: atmospheric and charming.
It's widely regarded as the quintessential Bionicle experience by 'hard-core' fans, despite its simplicity
Oh, and it's also piss easy to find online and play
It came from an era when 'online' meant 'browser based' not 'connected to every major country on the planet with tens of thousands of players'

If you haven't found it already: You can find MNOG and MNOG II plus basically every single other piece of secondary media ever created for Bionicle on 'biomediaproject.com' but be warned: pretty much everyone hates MNOG II because you have to grind, which is pretty weird for a point&click, I'd recomened just watching a walkthrough, like MNOG with Meso

Yes, the Grate Beings, the local mad scientists/demi gods of the Bionicle universe made most life basing it on Protodermis a liquid metal like substance that had the possibility to combine both organic and inorganic matter. [Does the anime glasses push up.]
You see, it was from this Bionicle movie (it was Mask of Light) that I got the following quote. I didn't even see the whole movie, this was just the biggest takeaway for me: "Arrogance can fell GIANTS!" I also remember seeing a Mega Man anime (battle network probably) playing on tv where he's riding on radio waves in the sky or something and something about accidently slipping into visible frequencies he said while talking to a robot wolf on a screen on his arm or something. This was before I knew what Mega Man was so I went outside.
I want a bionicle RPG where six toa (or more) work together as a group for the entire game.

Bruh if you thought the comics were the edgiest, my 10-year-old mind came up with characters and stories so edgy you'd swear it was a Sin City meets Gundam Wing game for the Sega Saturn.
I didn't just rearrange characters either, I was able to make Bionicles fit into other Bionicles like the Hulkbuster armor from Avengers 2. I created horrifying monstrocities from some Hellraiser nightmare. I created battlefields the likes never seen since the Somme.
It was fuckin awesome.

Basically, it was about a ancient Toa named Maltron hunting down and killing a bunch of enemy Bionicles or turning them to his side, or dying and being maimed.

I still have the original collection of Bionicles my parents knew that these things would end up being a big deal one day so they got me for Christmas one time I think like 3 or 4 of each individual Bionicle set complete along with those little mini versions it is so awesome
It's kinda sad that the free browser games were honestly the best Bionicle games there were, especially FRICKIN' MATA NUI ONLINE GAME.
Also, I know this was about the games and not any of the rest of the Bionicle sets or merch, but I gotta admit, I was expecting _some_ kind of comment or remark that acknowledged G2's existence.

It still baffles me that some of my/the TTV audience was only 2 when MNOLG first released. I was 11 for crying out loud. Kids these days will never know what it was like to play through that on dial-up.
I tried to play the MNOG 2 on a saved archive... That game has a LOT of grinding. "Hey, get four seaweed and we'll give you thread. You need two threads for rope, and four ropes for a sailing kit. BETTER COLLECT THAT SEAWEED AND SHELLS!"
G2 was kinda just fan bait. And it worked.
G2 had some of the best Bionicle sets ever designed (as well as some pretty bad ones). I wouldn't say it was just "fan bait" though.
And I certainly wouldn't say it "worked" when the line got canceled, presumably, early.

Ironically, videogames is what killed Bionicle (the golden age when action figures was all the rage is over).
SatellaChannel that's not true. They died because they felt the story got too convoluted for new fans. The series had been around for years and had a lot of complicated lore. So they dropped it and did hero factory.
I remember a video game on the bionicle website in the early 2000's where you're one of the water people and it was a cinematic point and click adventure and as a 5 year old it blew my mind. The lore is crazy intense haha.

I had Bionicle Heroes on 3 game systems. The PS2, GB, and DS. My favorite was on console but the DS version was also really good and the Gameboy one I remembered to be enjoyable.

Hassan Ghanim licensed property, ambitious ideas like incorporating coop in character action is still risky business. They're trying things and fortunately they had the power to come back from failure attempts and learn from it for the future. Some developers would have been sunk after that bad of a fuck up but they still got that shine, and it shows with their polish found in Nier Automata, they have the power but have to use it wisely.
Maybe FromSoftware could do it.

As a kid, i loved Bionicle, i still have all four movies. But I remember having a surgery surgery after the line got discontinued and my parents got me a Bionicle care package with the last movie, Bionicle Heroes, Metru Nui Nuju, and a bunch of the Cryoshell songs from the commercials, and I was a happy lad through my recovery.

Thank you for spreading awareness of Bionicle. I have been a fan of Bionicle since I was first introduced to the series at around 5 years old in 2005 and have been one of the few who have grown to enjoy the lore, toys and everything about it and still fondly remember and talk about it until this day. Bionicle was basically my childhood along with club penguin and pokemon.
I hate to break it to ya, buddy, but if you believe that there are only a "few who have grown to enjoy the lore, toys and everything about it" you are wildly mistaken. There are sites, UA-cam channels, podcasts, and more with thousands upon thousands of fans/followers/subscribers. The Bionicle community is frickin' huge.
I'm not giving you my Bionicles til you pry them from my cold, dead hands. O_O
Oh my goodness, heck yeah. I kinda went next level with the collection of these things. Even as a teen, I remember my joy at getting some old, unopened ones from my Grandma for Christmas. I was that nut that wanted to collect them all.
And yeah. I know the lore. All of it.
So glad I'm subscribed because seeing any public acknowledgement of the awesomeness that is Bionicle fills me with the sweet nectar of a vindicated childhood! The single frame of Bionicle in the Lego Movie made me insanely happy. Ages 8 to 16 of my life were utterly soaked in anything and everything Bionicle. So upset when the bulk of my collection got stolen a few years back. Am I rambling? Yeah, but who cares because BIONICLE!!!

6:42 funnily enough we may just get all that and more. A group of fans called team Kanohi are working on a whole Bionicle fangame called Bionicle: masks of power. They even got cryoshell (the band that made a lot of music for the commercials after Lego couldnt afford to keep AAR around) to collaborate with a popular music artist in the community (essenger) to make a new song for the trailer!
I remember playing and liking these games when I was younger, but they have definitely aged poorly. The Mata Nui Online game is the only game in the Bionicle series I genuinely love, even to this day.

I remember the Bionicle games I have played, the one where you play as the original Toa, one where you guide a Matoran and I remember it well, and Bionicle Heroes (my personal favorite) where I defeated the Piraka and battled to reclaim the Mask of Life
