"...So at least [Matoro dying] is accurate to the canon."
YOU DID NOT
OH MY GOD MY FEELS ARE SO TRIGGERED
...just like Avak, HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE
I personally liked the playground. I spent a lot of time watching the sky and the piraka playing around.
My exact life with game in a nutshell.
12:12 Okay, that joke legitimately got me. Well done. Poor Matoro.
Also glad you gave the music mention, because as bad as this game is, the music is phenomenal.
+SQUID_ :3 splatoon
+SQUID_ :3 U r so lucky!!
12:12 ...
You did NOT just make that joke.
He did
I remember when the older Lego games had grunts, now their voice acted, pretty good voices but I miss grunts
12:12 took me a second to figure out what you meant. That's funny. Great job on the review.
Wrong. The battle against Reidak (the Piraka of the desert-themed levels) is devoid of a Hero Mode, making Reidak one of the few actual threats.
As for the "secret ending", that whirlpool would lead to Mahri Nui, the underwater city that broke off of Voya Nui.
While I admit, it's not the best Bionicle game out there, it's still enjoyable in its own way.
RED Soldier someone already mentioned that in comments, and yeah, Reidak is a more unique boss, I just didn't think it was worth the time to talk about a single boss
it still fits into the category "waiting for a boss to arbitrarily lower its shield" though
Mahri Nui would make sense if this game followed the Voya Nui arc
in the context of this game it makes no sense
I'd say this is one of the better Bionicle games honestly. A lot of Bionicle games are outright bad. That said, I think the GBA version of BH is better
Game Sharks I think there's one thing that would make the Hero Mode less annoying. In the PC demo of the game (which was the very first level of the real game), you had to manually activate your Hero Mode once it was available, and, once activated, it was only temporary. Enough to quickly build a golden construct, but not enough to make the music annoying.
As for the shields, yeah, having to wait for them to drop is annoying. Why not just give that shield its own "health" bar so that, instead of waiting for it to go down, you have to actually break through it?
These two little things would greatly improve the game.
Man is this a great. I personally still findBionicle Heroes a fun game, but I can see your points are still completely valid. Review Bionicle: The Game as it was much worse than this one.
+TheUltimateZMANREVIEWS I plan to :D
+Game Sharks also it would be cool to see a bionicle game with gameplay very similar to War for Cybertron if another third person bionicle game was considered.
***** I'd love to see Platinum Games give Bionicle a shot, personally
+Game Sharks yeah a Bionicle beat em up would be a godsend. Especially with Gen 2 characters.
***** my dream game would be a return to 2001 honestly, there's SO MUCH you can do with the masks and the island itself, there's tonnes of rahi enemies. I feel like that has the most potential
Looking back, it was a shit game.
But 6 year old me thought this was the best game in the world.
Ikr
Yeah, same here. Interesting to note, I did spend 50% of my time in the game looking through the enemy descriptions and whatnot provided - I found the hub world and it's lore-viewing areas better than a lot of the game.
Same
so true
Gongler
But nostalgia hits hard
Fun fact, the matoran text on the loading screen says 'Please Be Patient'
My favourite part of the review was when you recognized bionicle's awesome music and referenced matoro's death.
For a first video, very promising. Might be onto something here. I like the shark, needs more shark!
***** Man, you're everywhere!
+SqueekyBeanz he is the loooonely gooomba. what do u xpected?
+BelpherithStudios for him to be lonely?
+TheLonelyGoomba i love you gooba im your big fan.
IT'S A

SHARK IN A TANK!
🎶🎶🎶
SHARK IN A TANK!
SHARK IN A TANK!
🎶🎶🎶
SHARK IN A TAAAAAANK!!!
Also, could you review some of the bionicle games on the Gameboy advance?
I have had this game for years and have never experienced any of the glitches you talked about
6:25 spawning without a head is a joke idle animation. There are multiple of these. For example, the Toa will turn around and tap on the glass of the screen, get an itch on its back that it can't reach so it pulls off its leg and uses it to scratch it, OR it takes off it's head and uses it as a hacky sack.
those are idle animations. If you move the head reappears on the head. This glitch just permanently removed the head
Game Sharks Oh, wow. I never encountered that, that’s really interesting. I’ve encountered a few glitches with the audio, but that might just be the fact that my PS2 copy of the game is a bit scratched
12:12 too soon man. too soon.
Seriously though, that music is the shit
+Genetic Tavi truth
+Game Sharks I think this game is fantastic :-D but know cares what I think so.....
+Ean Aldridge I care. *leans in closely and whispers onto your ear* I care.....
Espeicially the jungle dude's music
Par Ar Zaktan
12:12 AAAAHHHH I see what you did there :3
#NeverForgetMatoro
Too soon!!
TOOO SOON!
i loved this game as a kid, countless hours of fun andtrying to find every secret cave ,upgrade all equipment, get all stuff in the piraka playground and trying to get all enemies.
i also remember their being a giant brutaka toy
This game shall forever be a vital part of my childhood ☺️
I absolutely adored the theme for Avak's Dynamo
+trouble Maker agreed
This game also used axonn as a villain for some reason.
This was written before i watched the entire video
+mlgdoritoslayer hahaha
The Matoro joke of being sacrificed for the others characters really got me...
Crying.
Oh my god I used to play this all the time as a kid
my six year old me thought this game was amazing, and I bought a PS2 just to play it, also the transformers game with red alert and hot shot, and the like 40 something mini cons, those are my all time favorite games in the world, mainly because we were a very poor family, it hurt watching this, mainly... because its true, but I will always love this game till the day I die :) just hearing the matorian enclave song is just so oooh I love it :)
hell yes dude and do you remember spiderman 3 that shit was all I would play along with the others you said
Looking back, it deffinitely had substancial issues, however the presentation and especially the music left enough of an impact for me to remember it fondly.
Oh man I really dig the little animations!
Great first video man, keep it up!
FERALxPANDA thants man!
That joke about Matoro being a sacrifice is way too soon. Especially since, like the game, he died for no reason since the plot is resolved in another matter entirely
Ryan Chapman I actually loled at that if only because it was a pretty good reference if you knew bionicle well.
Drew Demkowicz It was cleverly put and subtle in the video haha
Ryan Chapman He didn't die for no reason, He sacrificed himself to save everyone on and under the island.
Except for the bad guys though. It wiped out the Visorak species lol.
As a child i adored this game, i still really enjoy it, its just fun, and the music is absolutely AMAZING
MZA Method Man I agree
Man, it really is a bummer that there hasn't been a BIONICLE game made in ages. The more recent LEGO games show that they can be very expansive, which is something BIONICLE would greatly benefit from.
Imagine a semi-sandbox game where you can basically play as any BIONICLE character and you just go around fighting, talking, exploring, customizing your characters with different masks and weapons, and doing missions based on the various storylines of the BIONICLE universe.
The matoro sacrifice joke was funny but I’m going to have to disagree the piraka playground being uncool. I loved it personally
I remember playing this and loving it as a kid, but still good points.
I remember playing this game when I was little and just recently found out there was an actual lore to bionicles. I remember playing this game and having the time of my life
Yo, yo, Piraka!
Yo, yo, Piraka!
The gang on the loose
Nothin' you can do
The Beast on the move
Bully comin' through
Trigger, Tracer, Drifter comin' too
Add The Snake that makes Piraka crew
Yo, yo, Piraka!
The gang on the loose
Nothin' you can do
You can try, but why? You know you're gonna lose
Yo, yo, Piraka!
(Yeah)
Piraka on the street
It's time, tick tocka
The gang on the loose in your school locker
At your home too, in your friend's room
Nothing you can do, the gang is on the loose
Yo, yo, Piraka!
Yo, I rap to the beat
The gang is on the loose
Piraka in the street, that's a lot of heat
The Trigger
Tracer
Drifter
The Snake
The Beast
The Bully
All that makes Piraka
(Ungh)
Yo, yo, Piraka!
Piraka, go Piraka
Piraka, go Piraka
Piraka, go Piraka
Miraka, go Piraka
'Ey yo, go Piraka
Let's go, go Piraka
'Ey yo, go Piraka
Go Piraka, go Piraka
Let's go, go Piraka
'Ey yo, go Piraka
from what i've seen, the gamecube version is the only buggy one, the PC and PS2 versions i can confirm work well
7:28 Well, the game does tell you, as Balta is the merchant that owns the shop you buy new weapons and upgrade the Toa at, the shop is even labelled with his name.
Nice video, btw!
I still like this game.
can you do the DS/GBA variant please?
Nice review and I agree with you that the games music and level design is amazing. Even though I'm not done with the game. I still enjoy the game a lot. Even though I with they gave the Toa Inhika their elemental powers but instead they game them guns with elemental power in them which is kind of sad. But my favor And toa to play in the game is Hahli and Kongu. And last thing I agree with you about is that I wish they game Bionicle heroes more of a story. But thank you for reviewing my lego game. :)
Yo Hatok, this was a GREAT first video! I hate to be that guy, but I honestly have no complaints with it. The video just had a lot of life to it; your cute little shark animations and the way everything felt like it "popped" around the screen gave the video life to it that's always welcome. Good luck with your next video, hope this channel hits home!
also shark pun or something
The Reviewer Guy means a lot, thants
uh..
shark
shark noises
I really enjoyed this Hatok. Well put together, and I enjoy the use of animation. Keep it up, dude!
***** thants so much perry!
Honestly this game is filled with nostalgia for me. It still holds up to me as well. Found it again at a place called games plus yesterday.
Still surpasses some modern AAA games though.
Lol i was 10 when i playd this and it was my first shoter and i loved this game its was so easy and my favorite part was buying things for the playground lol i was a dumb little kid... i still love this game tho it has a special place in my hart.
mortado28 it's no accident, Lego games are built around that, and there's nothing wrong with it
At some point, kids need a simple yet gratifying game to ease them in to more complicated ones
Congrats on the debut!
Alex Hong Thanks so much!
I loved this game, I plays it at my church and I would get in trouble for missing service...
The Matoro joke... although, it was in 2007 when he sacrificed himself. Great review, it's a good game just to pass the time.
EDIT: The whirlpool was actually Axonn opening a tube to the next year's storyline, Mahri Nui.
Cheese That'd make sense if this game followed the Voya Nui storyline
though the point is that a whirlpool that size would probably destroy the island :P
Everything you said is true (glitches debatable, those never happened to me) but I still love this game. It's one of the very few games I 100%ed and I never found it a bore. Yes it's flawed, but so's the modern gaming industry. This is a reminder of a better time.
My guess is that originally were going to do a game for 2007 in the exact same style and the whirl pool was their way of going into Mahri Nui.
Great review btw. I've never seen a good review for a Bionicle game. So this is nice to see. Looking forward to your next video
textbookgavin thanks!
Let's not forget, they made Roodaka sound like a Male monster. oh on top of that, the same roar is used over and over again throughout the entire game for multiple characters, that got old real quick.
Can't the deny... The whole game is about switching to the grenade launcher because it anihilates anything!
this one should be remade to ...
I absolutely loved this game as a kid it's still my second most favorite first being matanui online
Or a Diablo-Style beat 'em up with the objective of getting many different disks to make a Kanohi with different abilities, but you play as a Matoran with a customizable mask and body.
12:04 Haha lol! Shame that that's a joke only 1/10000 people will get
8:26 That’s a pretty weird thing to say, considering that, if anything, Mega Bloks or Mega Construx parts stick together more solidly than LEGO.
So Bionicle are kits of plastic sci-fi/fantasy hybrid characters that you assemble yourself, backed up by an eclectic, fleshed out lore...
I wonder if anyone there during the conception of the series was a 40K fan. Tahu's mask looks VERY similar to the space marine helmets, so it's just got me wondering!
This was my favourite game as a child and today I still think it's good
funny this game was my favourite game for a long time when i was a kid. i just revisited it and guess waht... omg i have so much fun playing it and idk why
Very well made video!
I am a Bionicle fan and I very much agree with your review. Im just dissapointed that there is no good immersive bionicle game.
Hey finally found someone who is in my league of UA-camr ranking
Great review with fair points. Honestly I would have preferred it if they would have given us half the content with a decent story rather than what they came up with now where quality is basically replaced by quantity.
I'm watching this review while playing bionicle heroes on my ps 2 right now ✌️😌
I even found out that back then I was playing the game with no character updates, because I was like 4 and had no idea it existed
Btw the sniper thing is so so accurate, whenever I was at low health I just switched to him so he'd die instead.
I find the DS version of Bionicle Heroes to be better since it is a FPS, you gotta get used to touch screen to look around and the D-pad to move around.
Hero mode is different given you can activate it at any time once the meter filled and it is not required to progress plus i find it overall to be fun to play .
The Funny is that the DS Bionicle Heroes is better than the PC/Console One. Sure it maybe a simple Metroid Prime Hunters Clone but for it is, it's quite a solid underrated DS Gem. It has Cheats & Extras like the regular TT LEGO Games have and Hero Mode can be used when you want to use it rather than it beaning automatic, plus Hero Mode is timed when you use it in the DS one.
I haven't played the DS version but I think the GBA version is one of the most fun Bionicle games ever made
I never went far in the DS release. The GBA port was solid, but the DS version bored me with its subpar attempt to imitate the console graphics and controls that made me wish for a joystick.
***** Everyone has their Mileages... Guess it's it comes down to which version you grew up with...
Oh my yea the DS one was my favorite
The no heads glitch i think is a creepy idle animation where the character removes their head, for some reason
I ran into a glitch in the 360 version in which where enemies wouldn't spawn in the level, and I couldn't get hero mode as a result.
I got the game. Mostly since I remembered playing this as a kid. I know it's not a great game, but an interesting game nonetheless to me. Makes me wonder of they still continue exploring the world of Bionicles with the different generations and ages that Bionicles went through. An RPG, a Monster Hunter World, a Tactical RPG. Man, Lego should have banked on that.
On the outro: "Thants for watching!", lol.
thanks ants
thants
o.o
Nice review btw. I beat this game when I was a kid and I liked it a lot. I guess back then my standards were lower, but now I understand all the flaws you demonstrated.
"atleast that part of the game is cannon"
*cries*
I 100% agree with everything here, buuuuuuut it's always gonna be one of my favorite games ever
I remember this game as a kid. Great video here!
Actually that whirlpool opening up is somewhat canon because the island does get sunken in the story.
Can't believe I played this when I was a kid. So weird after all these years,
man I used to play this game all the time on the PS2 years ago and I still find it pretty enjoyable if only for nostalgias sake
Yay I love this game
Great video, first time seeing this channel.
In all honesty I was a big fan of Bionicle, when I was little, but considering I was young, I never got the books. I saw the first three movies but the forth came out by the time I was in high school. When I played this game on my ps2 it was honestly rock solid, no glitches, no sound issues, and a great atmosphere.
I was a bit upset that it wasn't given a proper story considering I was eager for the next movie that never came in time. I loved the designs of the piraka and the inika, but I just wasn't given a fun story in time.
Regardless I loved what I got out of this game. I had a good imagination and made a story and connected it to the game itself. The scenes were very silly and I wish I had gotten a more serious tone, but I enjoyed what I got. The game play was very easy, but I found enjoyment in that fact as well. I enjoyed the feeling of becoming a truly powerful hero in the world. In a sense that I am blinded by nostalgia I love this game. I replayed the game fairly recently, and found it to be still pretty enjoyable, but yes, as an adult, it is far to easy. The sense of easiness is a bit much at this age, but I still found enjoyment in it. I think the glitches and faulty sound is just an issue with your copy. I had 3 copies they all worked fine, no issues at all.
Anyway, I enjoyed your review, even if I am late to the party. I disagree with a few points, but I still enjoyed it. maybe one day you can read this comment. I would like to make my own channel just to review this game and others.
If people REALLY know me, they would know I LOOOOOOVE me some BIONICLE. AND I LOVE THAT GAME!!! I love the soundtrack!
Underrated classic
the game models might have some mistakes based on sets they switch the pieces to make the body parts same
Love your channel man.
This is a great review. I love the animated bits. The only critique I have is the occasional awkward pause. Other than that, it's really great.
this game was lit when I was little I loved it so much
Even though i have to say that you are 100% correct, I do want to point out that I had a lot of fun playing it at the time. Of course, more lore would have been great, but you have "Mata Nui" for that :D
i legitimately loved this game.
I revisited this game a few years ago and I put it down quickly. I didn't encounter any bugs but the repetition and over reliance on hero mode left me bored to tears.
You should do a review on the GBA version of Bionicle Heroes. I remember it being fantastic as a little kid, and just like this game, I confirmed that the soundtrack is still incredible. I wonder if it actually holds up today, and I wonder what you think about it.
It is in fact very good and the OST s really impressive for the GBA
That's what I thought. I think I'll go and get an emulator right now!
heck yeah
I just finished playing this and was curious if somebody thought the same as me about it. Turns out you do
12:04 NONONO YOU DID NOT JUST DO THIS TO MY MANZ MATORO
In my opinion, Avak's dynamo and Vezon's Awakening are the only tracks that are good
Bionicle Heroes was a perfect game and it has no reason to be bullied edit
OMG WHEN DID I MAKE THIS?
Holy fuck
miss this so much
Honestly, I love this game
I remember loving this game as a kid. Never truly understood the story though.
I could look at all the games flaws and I understand that this game has not aged well at all, but due to this being my entire world when I had a PS2 I seriously could look past all of this and still think of it as one of my most nostalgic tastes since the toyline itself.
how dare you this game is perfect don't judge me i'm only 12 years old.
but I do agree with Avak BOSS fight music.
How about reviewing the Mata Nui Online Game?
it's on my list
What's the point of having the toa abilities be upgraded in increments exactly? As I understand, the special abilities can only be used after it's fully upgraded in the shop, and upgrading doesn't unlock anything before that.
I suspect they had more plans for toa abilities but needed to scrap them for time because Lego is terrible to work with as always.
I always felt like the game was always just somewhat decent - not good but not terrible
If the character animations were given a little more "character" to reflect each of the individuals, Hero Mode be tuned down, and the boss fights given more thought, it'd be by far a better game.
At the very least what we have as a finished product for BH is still better than Bionicle: The Game - what a pile of shit that was.
Why do you think the Bionicle Mask of Light was a "mmmmhhhhhh" game? In my opinion it was one of the funniest games in my childhood, I even picked it up a second and third time after many years and it was still tons of fun!
Awesome review man! I literally have to find a way to play this game right now!
MasterJay Y-you do?
Well there are amazon links in the description if you're looking to buy it
Game Sharks ooh that Wii version would be cool but I might get sick of the controls...
