I would definitely go with a rigid core kernmantle. Which would be a static rope. I started on a kevlar Kernmantle (very static) and switched to (currently on) nylon core poly sheath 24 strand when the kern wore out. The 24 strand does lose progress due to stretch but ultimately what I find is that the core collapses and doesnt hold reliably in my rope runner because it smushes so much. Has definitely led to some pucker factor and I am going back to a kernmantle for SRT but I'm gonna keep the 24 strand for MRS because it holds very well with prusiks. I bet the 24 strand would work well with a rope wrench instead of a rope runner but I dont have one and I'd rather but new rope than experiment with new work positioning devices. It's all about your set up basically 😂 stay safe!
I’m new to climbing. Been climbing on an RRP using foot ascender/HAAS and loving it. Finally decided to pick up a chest harness as it’s became a super annoyance trying to manually hand tend the RRP up while climbing. Can’t wait to it gets here
@@chtclimbing Ya I ended up getting the Monkey Beaver suspenders and loving them. So much more comfortable with lots of weight on my saddle and makes the climbs much faster and cleaner without having to manually tend the RRP up with me. Now that I’ve gotten a lot more experience rope walking up anything over 60’ or so I’ve been using the rope wraptor. Just hang on and enjoy the ride. It’s used more often than not since I’m climbing out here in PNW. 90% of my work is in massive evergreens.
Just bought a rope runner pro. Looking forward to trying it out. Hosea is an amazingly gifted climber though, I doubt I'll be half that smooth with it but definitely looking forward to trying it out.
Great video showing all the work that goes into climbing and transitioning through the tree. I really want to get some good climbing gear and start my own tree business on a small scale. I've always enjoyed climbing trees limb by limb, but with climbing gear you can Spiderman all through the tree. I'm watching lots of videos and taking notes on all the gear I'll need. I like that the RRP because it is midline removable. Is it the best midline removable? I'm thinking of getting the Monkey Beaver saddle also. I don't have any climbing gear and I only want to buy it once. Good gear is expensive. You know what usually happens to all of us right after you buy something new. Someone will say, oh man you should of bought this other brand it's way better. Any suggestions you or anyone else have will be greatly appreciated. Safe climbing.
invest on a good rope grab style lanyard adjuster. i personally like the ART positioner 2. The quickest midline multicender would be a device like the akimbo. it all comes down to preference and its an overall subjective choice. your on the right path by doing some research. climb high and safe my friend and thanks for your comment.
Rope runner pro is great, art Positioner is Great, I use that on one lanyard and the petzl zillion on another lanyard. Sorry if things aren’t spelled correctly, my auto correction is messing me up. Also i use the petzl sequoia srt. Saddle, its great.

I haven't had any calls for tree work since December. I traded my running 14 year old ms290 farm boss for a not running 1 year old cs620p and he kicked in $50. I took it apart and found it needed a new piston kit $73. I honed the cylinder which looks good and will put saw back together this week. Looks like I made a great deal. How's it going?

@thomashare4010 no It was only like 3 months old, removed it from my climbing kit and the rope fixed itself it's back to the shape, however using different rope now courant kalimba and it's better in My opinion
I think that redirect method with a bight of the tail will work with DRT also. do you favor the pro over of the OG rope runner? that last transition looked real fun :D
Yeah from what I know about the OG RR I would prefer a device that doesn’t fall apart when removing it or installing midline. Even on the ground for that matter.

Been climbing 50ish years now. I train and consult Arborists. I watch your videos as I do many others. I see climbing but seldom see properly pruned trees. Seems most tree companies remove and basically harm trees. Tree restoration is never mentioned. Your turd tree by description is a job that has no respect! I climb on most every technique and design tree care equipment and procedures.... Basically many of your cuts if made really should have removed the tree insread. Unfortunately most trees I do reports on are removed due to a tree worker or Arborist making one bad cut up to 20 years before(sometimes even longer depending on tree species). My main question is why are you in the tree...saving the tree, safety, removal? A pruning Arborist main concerns are balance of light or maintaining the health of the tree by keeping it from entering old age decline.

Looks like teufelberger xstatic line to me. I use drenaline which is the same but slightly larger diameter.
Do you neeeeeed a static line for SRT with a mechanical hitch?

Do you still use Xstatic rope for full tree work? I plan to get some as I primarily SRT. I know some say its access only.

is your rope already worn? I'd check that or mess around with the friction point on the ground to see how it changes
