    Hey Luvs! Do you prefer a liquid leave-in conditioner or a creamy, thick leave-in conditioner? For me, it just depends on what type of style I am going for but usually my hair loves creams, butters, etc.

    The coconut oil was apart of the original recipe but I did not add it when I recorded 😬 Too complete the 100% you can add the coconut oil. If you wish to keep it omitted, then make up for the percentage else were. You can add more oil, a different oil, more Aloe Vera gel, etc. to balance your creation.

      Thanks for this precision. I plan to add Abyssinie oil (crambe) instead, same quantity. My hair doen't like coconut oil and Abyssinie oil has great conditoning properties. It alsow protect the ends from dryness and split ends 😉

      @@hawatoure7642 Thank you so much! I have never heard of Abyssinie oil. Thank you for introducing it to me, I will be looking in to it. I know some people have adverse reactions to coconut oil but it has been key to most of my natural hair journey. • @sensimania
      @sensimania 3 роки тому +2

      You'd need to send the product to a company for stability testing to determine the shelf life. Bacteria etc can start developing before you can even see it.
      As a rule of thumb for home formulators (since we're not working in sterile environments...such as a lab), it's best to use up what you have within 6 months (although I still have a cream which I made last year that still looks and smells good)

      Yes, BTMS-50 is good for the hair because it is more conditioning, less fatty alcohol and it adds more shines to hair while BTMS-25 is good for the skin because it has more fatty alcohol which is what the skin likes and it also has that nice sleek feel on the skin.

    I am heavily into making my own hair ceeations and your videos has helped me recognize a lot of mistakes I was making years ago lol. Quick question: Does your creams tend to thicken over time and if not, what can I use in my products to stabilize the consistency?

    • @YayaDIYCreations
      @YayaDIYCreations  5 років тому +16

      That is great to hear! Glad I could help!
      Some products tend to thicken during the cool down phase but not over time.
      If your product is thickening, you could be adding too much of something. Like thickeners or butters.
      Let's say you want to make a "milky conditioner", you would probably leave out solid butters altogether or you can add more water if you do use a solid butter. For a milkier consistency, I would use a 2 to 3% ratio of solid butter or no butter at all. For this particular video, I wanted a thicker conditioner, so I used WAAAY more butter than necessary.
      Also, be careful of your fatty alcohols like cetearyl alcohol. This is a thicker that can cause your product to thicken too much if you add too much. So, really it is about balancing the ratio of ingredients to get what you want. This comes with trail and error which I know you know too well.
      The only way to stabilize that I know of is to use an emulsifier or fatty alcohol. This well keep your water and oil phases from separating. Other than that, I will have to do more research to find out how to keep it from thickening overtime if the ingredients have already been added.
      I hope this helps. I will have a Q&A video coming out soon where I will answer more questions about DIY's. So leave more questions below or a specific question you would like answered and Ill do my best.

      also, how do I know the percentage of how much I'm supposed to do of the ingredient (if that made sense)

      Hey definitely add more water. The more water, the milkier it will be. However, you will have to balance out your other percentages.

      @@jcurls7466 I will have a Q&A video coming out soon that will explain measurements and percentages when it comes to ingredients. It is hard to explain here without a visual. In the meantime, I have already calculated the percentages into grams to make it easier for you all. It is in the description box. I hope this helps for now and I hope this is what you meant.
      If not, please let me know and Ill try to answer again. 🙂

    How long was the water phase heated up for. Love this recipe and I want to try it on myself 😍

      The water and oil phase need to heat at the same amount of time. They need to be the same temperature in order to emulsify with each other. Around 15-20mins
