- Some of you guys asked for realistic crashes, so I decided to give you guys what you asked for. The difference between this video and the other crash compilations is that these crashes are not on purpose.

Oops, I forgot to remove the framerate counter from the screen. Never mind, it will show how the game performs on Ultra settings with a Gtx 560 ti 2gb, so it's actually helpful.
Do you need a joy stick to play?

Thomas Giblin I don't have a joystick, but I'd say joystick. I use an xbox controller for these videos.
The damage models are so beautiful...If I tried to replicate that first crash in war thunder the wing would have been blown off after the first bullet hit it. And yeah, realistic crashes are better to look at than forced ones for the most part.

Yeah, but the fact is the sheer lack of aircraft. And even without the overall number, the number of aircraft I'd want to fly in the game is 1. Hope they soon make a game set in the MTO or PTO with some US bombers.
+Matheus Geisel (PrimeTheBomber) Yeah, I think from now on I'll stick to the realistic crashes. Also, I figured out that the game has replay recordings, so maybe in the future I'll do some with better camera angles, by using replay mode, instead of doing it live, by hitting record when the plane is critically damaged.

I know it's a videogame so it can only show you so much but it gives you a glimpse of what it was like back then.

I love this game, maybe I should get it once my computers fixed. Do you recommend it, I would like some advice.
Well, it is a good game, but it doesn't have a lot of content. The base game gives you 8 planes, about 3 or 4 large maps, quick mission builder, campaign mode, multiplayer mode and missions. You can also drive tanks and have tank battles against players or against AI. There's a lot of controls, so I suggest looking at the key bindings before you play it, and set it to your liking. So far there is one major expansion pack that adds more content than the base game. It's called battle of Moscow, and it adds another 8 planes, more maps, a new campaign, and also a scripted campaign. If you just have the base game like I do, then you can fly the 8 planes that comes with the game and drive the tanks, but you can still choose DLC planes for the AI to fly and you can still play with players that has the DLC. You can even be a gunner in someone's DLC plane even if you don't own the DLC. There is a new DLC in development called Battle of Kuban that will add another 8 planes and missions and maps and stuff too. Basically, my advice is, if you have enough money to spend, and you are into highly realistic combat flight simulators, then this is the game for you. The planes feel like the real deal to fly. I haven't flown a real plane, but I'm pretty sure they handle like ww2 planes do in real life. If you are on a budget, but still love flight simulators like this one, you should wait for a sale.

OMG you are too much! Hope to put in my PC IL2 and playing some marvelous campaigns...but if I crash like you, well, depend where I land: into controlled territory I have a chance to continue, but in enemy territory..the war is end, and I become a POW.
Are the bullet holes actual marks of the shots, or do they "appear" once any damage is taken?
It's scripted, they appear according to how much bullet damage an area of the plane has taken.
That blows, I remember in COD that there were live bullet holes

Although I love realistic crashes I would kinda like to see a plane going at super fast speeds pulling a high G maneuver ripping its wings because I've never really seen that in IL2 and I imagine it might be cool because the wing will probably fold up realistic unlike in war thunder were they just go poof

I would say IL2 BoS crashes are realistic... to a point. I don't like how you can hit the ground at an acute angle but going at 200mph and maybe some parts break off. Crashes like that bury the aircraft into the dirt and the inertia crushes most if the aircraft into a mess of metal.
00:01 Looks like he's leaking fuel on his wing tanks. Can't tell if he's leaking coolant from his fuselage though. Looks...whiter..? I would guess coolant. I don't know if that A/C has a fuselage tank.
What's the difference between this game and Rise of Flight
It's made by the same developers and runs on the same engine. This is world war 2 and Rise of Flight is world war 1. That's the only big difference.
How are these realistic crashes when the plane stays basically intact after a hard landing?
+ChernobylPizza I said realistic crashes, because I crash landed like real pilots would. I think the game's damage model is realistic.
I think the people who make these games should come out with a Vietnam version cause id love to see jet catch fire and hit the ground

When I made this video I had a gtx 560 ti 2gb, 8 gb ram, I5-3470 3.2 GHz, Windows 7 pro 64-bit. Now I get mostly 60 fps. I now have a Gtx 1070, 16GB ram and windows 10, but the same cpu. The game runs better, but not much, because it doesn't utilize your parts fully.

The answer is quite simply that aircraft don't always explode on impact with the ground. An aircraft is more likely to explode if it still possesses a large fuel supply and if it is on fire.

You can't, you have to sign in your account, and enter your activation code on the game's website in order to activate the game. After that, you can play the game without having to sign in. Also, Ubisoft is not the publisher of the IL-2 series anymore, so technically you don't give Ubisoft your email.
i guess il be getting a steam refund and acquiring a pirated version in that case

Why didn't you let us see tons of explosions.
I find the explosions boring, because it's the same results every time. Just a fireball on the ground with generic debris that look the same every time. These crashes I do look cooler imo.

Game doesn't support mouse and keyboard. I use a controller. I don't have a stick.
Maybe get a stick? That way you could fly instead of using the autopilot.

Because the engine was on fire. Sometimes the game has some weird logic.
Fuel tanks exploded. There is a fuel tank right at the back of the pilot seat in some Bf 109 versions. The tail structure was probaly weak due to the enemy attacks.

Half of these crashes do seem "faked" though... the dude was flying nearly always horizontally, with no change in elevation or azimuth. That naturally invites people to shoot you down.
These old crash videos were all intentional and staged. My newer videos are not.
