Trend Smartbench CNC First Time Set Up

- Well... That didn't go to plan. Trend very kindly sent me their SmartBench CNC on loan to try out but unfortunately, it doesn't fit in my workshop. I'm gutted it won't fit in the space I currently have. I'd hoped with the space cleared it would be able to squeeze in but unfortunately it's too close for comfort. Hopefully I can find a larger space soon!

Thanks for a great and honest video Joe
Thanks Chas! 🙏
Hi Joe! Shame it won't fit in your space. If you plan to do mostly smaller projects at one end of the machine, then think about cutting a hole in a wall and extending 4 to 6 feet of the bed outside the shed. You could cover it up to protect it from the weather. I would use it as an outdoor bar with stools around it. :) Maybe have enough of it in the shed to cut a 2x4 foot sheet. Just a thought.
Steve!!!! That’s absolutely genius! Issue I had with extending the shed was that we still “need” a garden apparently 😅 an outdoor bar might be an easier sell though 🤔
Hope you’re keeping well mate 🙏❤️
Well that sucks, looking forward to seeing you get it up and running in a new workspace. Full sheet CNCs need a lot of space!
Thanks mate! Hope I can find a bigger space soon 🤞
It sucks that it doesn't really fit in the space you have now. Seems like a good excuse to get a bigger space.
100% a good excuse for a bigger space haha just got to find somewhere 😅
Oof! I bet you were gutted! Hope you find a space soon fella
Cheers mate! I hope so too, still on the look out 👀
Great video as all ways sorry it not fit in the space you have right now just hope you get your new space soon to use it
Thanks Danny! I hope I can find somewhere soon. Will allow me to do so much more 🤞
Joe, try Cradley Enterprise Centre. Not too far from you buddy.
Will check it out cheers mate! See what’s available 🤞
Shame. You must be gutted. However it is still a very constructive exercise/video so thank you. Doubt I’d even get the boxes in my space 🤣
Thanks Michael! I think a lot of people can relate to that awful moment of realisation 😅
Gutted for you mate.
That moment of realisation is the worse 😅
That’s a shame Joe, I was going to suggest a pop up marquee style garage (Clarke sell these) until you mentioned the sound, IN THE WORKSHOP channel has just built one.
I suppose a temporary makeshift OSB and CLS shed is out the question?
Either way good luck.
Always enjoy your videos mate👍, all the best Rob
Cheers Rob! Unfortunately we still ‘need’ our garden haha got to find me a space soon 😅
Paint it pink! 😀
Magenta makes it fit! 😂
its time to build an awning
Here in the UK, I’m sure there are many maker’s that been overly optimistic about how much space we have available to build. Unfortunately we’re on an island and there are millions of us so not much space to share out between us.
Haha I think you're right mate! We don't have the luxury of wide open spaces here unfortunately. Hoping I can find somewhere suitable soon though
time to build a bigger workspace now i think
Wish I could but we need garden space too apparently haha I’m looking for somewhere to rent but having trouble finding somewhere
Could you mount it horizontal on the wall like a panel saw
Love that idea! Would have to see if it would flex the gantry but I like your thinking!🙌
Great video Joe, to be honest I think I would of made the same assumption about size 👍
Thanks Steve! It’s a horrible feeling when you have that realisation. Like building something to fit a space and then offering up for the first time. I’m sure I felt the colour drain from me 😅
@@AverageJoesJoinery I’ve only got about 10’x10’ conservatory and that’s going to be my work space 😲 so I’m going to have to really think about using the floor space. Wish me luck 😂🤣👍
It’s doable mate! Just don’t buy any tools that wont fit and you’ll be sorted 😅
You can always ship it down to me and I will give it a go 😉
Can I move in? 😅
Would it fit and run in a shipping container? They can be affordable extra work space if your planning on using it quite often. Might need a genny tho to run it
I think it would fit but I haven’t got anywhere to put a shipping container though 😩
@@AverageJoesJoinery i meant rent one mate. There about £20 a week around my way. Im thinking of putting a smart bench in one myself cos i aint even got a shed😂
Not everything goes to plan Joe. It was worth a try.
Thanks Jerry! I would have been a fool to turn down the opportunity. Shame it doesn’t fit though 😅
@@AverageJoesJoinery absolutely
Looks like a shed extension
We “need” a garden too apparently 🙄😂 looking for a bigger space to rent hopefully
It’ll fit in mine if you want me to store it for you 😉
Got room for a little un too? 😂
@@AverageJoesJoinery always mate I could make you up a bed under the table saw lol
On my way! 🙌
An excuse to build a bigger shed.
I like your thinking!! 😅
What about a platform. Just raise it high enough to clear the other tools and benches. Wiggle room maybe? I dunno.
Unfortunately, (cough, cough) nobodys ever complained.
While playing golf today I hit two good balls. I stepped on a rake.
If it's the Psychic Network why do they need a phone number?
Think off-center. George Carlin
Take care . You got skills you learned no machine can duplicate.
Thanks Dale! I'm far off machine level skills but it's a lot more fun haha Unfortunately, even with everything removed from my shed I'd only have about 45cm either side. Not great haha
lmao! Dunno how you keep these coming!
@@AverageJoesJoinery Man I just realized that stinking thumb up button works both ways. DUH!!
