Fondant Recipe:
-2 1/2 cups/450g Mini Marshmallows (Gelatin/Gelatin free will work)
-8 cups/900g SIFTED Icing Sugar (YES you need to sift it!)
-2-4 Tbs. water (adjust as needed)
Optional
-1/2 cup vegetable shortening (eww... nobody likes sticky fingers!)
-1 Tsp. Flavouring (I used clear vanilla extract)

You're right, a little extra time sifting that sugar saves tons of time. I learned the hard way too.
I have been making this for years and using it for my clients. One of my favorite tricks is you can sub the water for other things. My favorite was for lemon juice. Used it for a strawberry lemonade wedding cake a few years ago and it was the best! When I was using store bought fondant they would always pull it off. Not this!
WOW that is such a good idea! That sounds super delicious! I really liked the flavour a lot better then store bought. I think if you have the time to make it your self, its worth it!

This was a very informative video. Thank you. Most other videos show you the method, but don’t clearly explain what level of stretchiness is needed, or what happens if too much powdered sugar is added. Your video answered all my questions .

I have been using marshmallow fondant for years now. Love it. I like to match the fondant flavor to the flavor of the buttercream. I find that most adults don't want to eat the fondant until I tell them what it is. Then they try it and love it. Thanks for spreading the word. It's easy to make and work with, plus in my opinion much better tasting than store bought. The main thing to remember is that it needs to be made ahead of time.

Thank you for the great instruction! In the description you wrote 450g marshmallows, but 2 1/2 cups for me yield only around 220 grams.

Thanks so much for this recipe. I weighed out 900g of icing sugar and after weighing what’s left over I still have just over 450g remaining. Is that normal or should I have kept adding it all while adding water as needed to keep the consistency correct? My fondant seems to be a great texture but I’m surprised at how much sugar is left over. Thanks again! ❤️

Hi. Hope you're well. How can I make fondant without the marshmallow.. Is it possible to just have icing sugar, vanilla extract and just water. Or do I have to add in anything else like plain flour etc?

I add some Cointreau instead of vanilla. It’s got the same percentage of alcohol and even though I have the real vanilla from Mexico, the liquor is actually cheaper and adds a nice citrus taste/flavor. I started using it over a year ago while experimenting with new baking recipes.

Yes for sure! You start with a white base and you can colour it using either gel based food colouring or liquid food colouring. I am going to do a full fondant basics video in a few weeks!
