I really appreciated the discussion on why we don't dive into new hobbies like how we did as kids. I personally struggle with perfectionism and hyper-focusing on the outcome rather than just letting myself sit and enjoy the journey and the present. I've found this is my roadblock when it comes to watching new shows, reading books I've owned for years, and playing new video games. Half the time i get over the hurdle of starting something if I can beat the analysis paralysis, but more often than not, I don't finish. It's like I have to set a goal and reach the goal, or else I don't feel motivation. This video definitely inspired me to journal all of this, pick a cozy hobby to dive into, and to not overwhelm myself with the outcome!

I really loved your childlike wonder section. I'm not sure if it's like the same the same, but when I was real little, like 2nd grade, I decided I wanted to be a good person. Like morally good. So I reflected a lot on what does a morally good person look like, act like, what do they do, what do they not do. And I was constantly striving for that one goal in every way I could. Still am, I picked a journey for myself, not a destination.

I have been watching/listening to your entire Stardew playlist for the past 3-4 weeks, mainly while doing my research project...and omg, I can't believe I've reached the end 🥹🥲 I absolutely love these play-throughs, especially when they're like a podcast - idek what I'm going to be playing in the background now 🫠 I've also watched/listened to all your other videos too 😂 You're quite literally helping me get through my pharmacy degree rn, hehe 😆
The self improvement conversation resonated so much with me! I definitely did all of that when I was a kid and lost that a little bit as I grew up, though I don't miss looking for validation in archetypes like that I genuinely do miss the excitement and drive that it brought, and I feel like some of it definitively stick and is part of who I am today. It's so weird cause I've also been thinking about it a lot and trying to shift my perspective on it! 💖 I want to be excited about change again hahaha I think also being a tired adult doesn't help with having that excitement ahahahahahahafkdjfhsd

Yeah, I think through grad school I put a lot of emphasis on SCHOOL and made the excuse that I don't have time to socialize, I don't have time to exercise, etc etc due to my circumstance. I honestly felt miserable, which shot my mental health. Therefore, I completely agree that we shouldn't accept our situations the way we think they are and that we do have the "power" to change even if it feels so hard to in the moment. I find that when I do exercise and basically make time to do the things I want to do, I feel so much better!

Growing up catholic, going to catholic schools, my secret childhood aspiration was to be a saint lol. It really conflicted with reality, as you can imagine 😂 thankfully that goal fizzled out pretty quickly. Going from primary school to high school, I remember being absolutely determined to change everything about myself and I managed to be at least mostly different for about a year or two before I snapped back into place.
I did reach perfection in one playthrough so far, and money/golden clock was the last thing for me to hit. I think i pretty much spent all my time just making and using as many kegs as I could. I had a shed full of hops (garden pots with that permanently watered fertilizer) and made heaps of pale ale (in addition to ancient fruit wine) which is quicker to produce than wine.
I've at least started games on most of the farm types and i have to say, beach farm is in my top favourites along with the hilltop farm (really convenient to have that little mining area).
Been feeling bummed this entire weekend. This video helped me feel a bit better

Romanticizing your self improvement❤️🩹 love that. I love to think of myself as taking care of my inner child. Having that love of a mother and just genuinely enjoy taking care of yourself as if you were a child. Spending quality time with your inner child. 😊 Adults are just big kids. And we are always at heart…a kid. 😆 at least that’s my opinion.
