Its more difficult when the divisor is larger than the divident

can you explain 0.1divide 5
Here is a link to another video that might help answer your question. The numbers are similar to what you are asking about, instead of 0.1, it is 3.1. The process is the same for both.
ua-cam.com/video/5S12aJDmQBw/v-deo.html
What will i do if the 0 goes over and over again?
That is a great question! Basically the 0 would not repeat over and over again, because it represents a zero remainder, so you are done. But, sometimes you have a single digit or a period of digits that do repeat over and over again. When this happens we recognize that is a repeating decimal, and you put a bar or a line above the digit or digits that keep repeating. Looking through my playlists about decimal numbers, I see that I need to make a video to address your question! Look for this video in the near future! 🙂🙂
I think i get it😮
THANKSSSSS
How do I know how many 0’s to add?
When dividing with decimals, you must keep dividing until you have a zero remainder or a repeating pattern. So to answer your question, you keep adding zeros until you see one of these two things. There is an exception though! If you see that the division will just keep going on and on, you can stop the process and just round your answer. In most problems like this you would round your answer to the nearest hundredth or thousandth. I hope this helped you out and thank you for reaching out with your question. 🙂🙂
imagine you were dividing a number by a prime numner there was just neverending zeros and you kept on writing down zeros
What is 2÷9.11 , i get 4.555 but answer is 0.219
I see your mistake. If you got an answer of 4.555 then that means that you put the number 9.11 inside the division box, but that is not correct. The number 2 is the dividend, so it should have gone inside the division box. This is a common mistake because students like to think that the larger number always goes inside the division box. But, instead it is the first value in the math sentence that is the dividend. I hope this helped you out!🙂
@@MathDefinedwithMrsC thankyou so much now i cleared 👍😊
How to divide 200÷2.5

HELP I WAS STRESSED HOW TO DIVIDE DECIMALS TNXXX IM GONNA PASS 🎉🎉🎉
Not gonna work for any divisor that isn't a multiple of 2's and 5's. Dividing by 3,7, 11, etc will give an unending stream of digits.
There is a solution for that! When this happens, you can do one of two things. Number 1- You can write the remainder as a fraction. Number 2 - You can round your answer. Here is a link to a video that shows you how. ua-cam.com/video/NdHSkDxv-h0/v-deo.html
@@MathDefinedwithMrsC Yes, I know how to divide; I have an advanced degree in engineering. My point is that whomever you think you are teaching presumably does NOT, and "just add zeros until it stops" will not work without a firmer model of what decimal fractions mean.
Since this video is a "youtube shorts" I only have 60 seconds to complete the problem. Typically when students are learning this new concept, they are given problems that will end.
@@MathDefinedwithMrsC Yes, there is that. If you have a cancer cure or fast number factorizer, don't try to explain it in a UA-cam short! "The answer in Part 2", the most famous UA-cam short quote second to "A man found a stray kitten on a bridge..." I suppose the first time the student tries dividing by, say 3 (a very common and small number!), the problems with decimal notation will become obvious...
thank you no I on who to Divide decimal
What if value is less then 8??
If you are asking about what to do if the value of the dividend is 0.851 instead of 8.51, you would follow the exact same process. Bring the decimal point straight up to the quotient and then divide until you have a remainder of zero or a repeating pattern. Here is a link to a playlist I have about decimal numbers if you need more information. ua-cam.com/play/PLUGEkd8VaMuahI_JIRuw81r8DEU_hOdKa.html
I hope I was able to answer your question. 🙂
@@MathDefinedwithMrsC if its repeating then the answer is correct?? Thanks for help
Actually im from India i didn't studied my 9-10 grade due to covid now im in 12 th grade and i get struck at numericals cause my basic aren't clear ..
@@gourangchoudhari3132 Yes, but you will need to place a bar on top of the decimal digit or digits that are repeating, OR you can round the answer to the nearest tenth, or hundredth, or even thousandth.

Simply do this 851/400,,,, 00 taken only for point sifti g😢
How to do 100 ÷ 1.5
Here is a link to a video on how to divide a whole number by a decimal number. ua-cam.com/video/NdHSkDxv-h0/v-deo.html
The only difference with the problem you are asking about is that the quotient of 100/1.5 will be a repeating decimal. The answer will be 66.666... (the .666 is repeating. You can either place a bar over the 6 in the tenths place to show that it is a repeating decimal or you can choose to round the quotient to 66.67 or even 66.7
I hope this helped!🙂
