I fully agree with the Bear, about not wanting to waste money on pre-selected tool kits. But ya know? There's always the ones you should have just to keep in the trunk of a car for emergencies. They do come in handy in a pinch. Don't need to worry that they will rust, or get lost, cheap sets, but when you're broken down somewhere, you'll be glad to have them.
I bought the old version of that B&D multi tool for my mom a while ago. It has been useful every time I go over to work on something for her. I really love my flat nose pliers from Channel Locks. 🥂
I needed a small cordless for household and computer disassembly. The Nocry cordless screwdriver is excellent, and a lot stronger than you imagine. I liked it enough to buy a second one for my rollaway.
I got laughed at for using $30 Drill Brush on a $250 worth of red cordless drill to wash the pots and pans (reseasoning cast iron and whatnot) up until they realized how much more effective and fast it made the job. Take that! :)
Got the Vacmaster 5 gallon and it's PERFECT for cleaning out the carpets in a car. More suction than a car wash. If you need something more portable (to use all over the house), this is perfect.
As a former full time machinist wera screw drivers are the best. Lots of higher end mills will come with wera drivers. Before Amazon we always had to order them through MSC or grainger
Bear, I had the WEN planer, I planed with it for about 6mo, made a few really nice Adirondack chairs with it but on my 4th chair the bearings seized on the knife rotor and it absolutely demolished a $100 cedar board. I recently bought a DeWalt to replace and don't think that I'll look back.
I have the CASOMAN 4 pc impact set for wheel bearings. They really are decent quality. I was able to get the 4 pc set for the same price that O'Reilly's wanted just for the one size I needed. Highly recommend.
Just purchase a 3pc 3/4” impact extension set off Amazon by Casoman, for the $35cad they gotta be good enough I reckon🤷🏼♂️ happy to hear your impact tools from them were acceptable
I bought a Juemel 3/8 electric ratchet and that thing has taken a beaten and still working great. Another brand I've bought is NoCry. I have their 1/2" impact wrench, 1/4" drill driver and 3/8" chuck drill. Those things have been going for over a year now and again no issues. Those were bare tools but the batteries can be bought on there too.
I have Klien screwdrivers and one set of wera , the wera are some really nice lightweight and strong screwdrivers , they are def 1 of the top of the line brand.
One of the best tools off of Amazon I’ve ever gotten was the Subaru ball joint puller by Astro Pneumatic. $25 and it saved me a ton of time. Easy and effortless. If you don’t have one in your box you should consider picking it up.
I bought a Wen variable speed I believe 16 inch (dont exactly know) drill press over 7 years ago, it has been beat to absolute hell its been used a a drum sander, turned sideways and used as a lathe, even surfaced some engine parts with a grinding wheel in the chuck of that thing. and it absolutely will not die!! The only thing I didnt like was the original hardware holding the motor mount on was garbage but thats a super simple fix, and other than that it performs like its brand new.
WERA!!! Love this company!! I’ve had some of their tools for about 5 years now. Picked up their sockets. Impact, or “Impaktor” and the zyklop, or non impact, sockets about 3’months ago. OMG the best sockets I’ve ever used. Can’t explain it. Just have to experience it. If you think they are too pricey, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!
Hey Red, I really enjoyed this video! Lots of great information and I actually own several of the items you mentioned ( your fault by the way) I used to enjoy going to Lowe’s and Home Depot but not so much anymore, 1 register open in a big box lumber, hardware and patio store🙄, and 1 guy just standing around pointing you to self checkout that either won’t read the barcode, reads the barcode but puts in the wrong amount or has a read error when I insert my card to pay. Arrgh! If I can get an item on Amazon at close to the right price that’s the route I take. I really tried to support retailers, I am willing to pay more so that a human being can have a job and benefits but a store with 10 registers and never more than one person working to check me out , I just got tired of it. Thanks for all the research and great information. Hope Everyone has a very blessed and healthy day.
I bought one of those Quinn digital torque adapter from harbor freight a few years ago when I first saw it. And I love it. I also have a few torque wrench’s but the adapter is a lot easier to use. It’s a better option not only space wise but also just as accurate as a wrench.
I have a wen 4214 drill press. It is great but it is amazing by making a few modifications such as a drill press table, new handles, and a digital depth gauge. Calibrate and it will run perfectly.
Oh now that one looks exactly like one of my Crescent sets. Holy moly prices have gone up over, um, I guess maybe 7 years? Jeepers I'm old 🤣 Paid maybe 60 tops on black Friday? Think I'm using the wrong one of the drill brush set in trying to clean my grill. Though I'm kind of addicted to using the "Scotchbrite" "roloc" pads from the set. Very exciting!
Yeah, the Apollo set at 20:15 looks just about identical to the Crescent CTK170CMP2 that I have. It was a good set for $80 five years ago, but prices have come up substantially.
The gear wrench socket/Allen head things..we use them at work...they wear out fairly fast.. if you're planning on using them a lot, go with something else

Hey Bear, about the Black and Decker multi-tool: The orange one is the new one. The white one is the older model that you featured on your channel about a month ago, right before the new model was released. I believe the older model was $139 at that time, but jumped up to $190 when the sale ended. I still haven't decided (Makita) on what line (Makita) to go with (Makita) so I passed on it. The orange one is the new model and it was listed at $276 straight out of gate. I don't know how, or even if, it differs from the prior (white) model, but, of course, it's more expensive. Just out of curiosity, have you ever seen a new model of a tool that was less expensive than the comparable prior model?
I have some Sata and some Gearwrench and outside of the packaging I do not see much of a difference. Very impressed with the Sata ratcheting tap and die handles.
Don't waste your money on that large filter. The filter on fan definitely works for airborne particulates, so it saves your lungs. Practice good cleanliness at least once a week and vacuum all horizontal surfaces.
I never understood the boner for powered ratchets. I have used air ratchets at work and they're a pain in the ass more than anything else. They feel greasy because the access oil sprays all over the handle, and the air house is just as bad as fighting with a garden hose. I have a husky electric ratchet at home and it works great but still I rarely use it. I bought it a year ago and it's still on the same charge that was on the battery the first time I charged it 1 year ago.
At Lowes you can buy online/pick up in store some of the Black & Decker 20v stuff. Recently picked up the mouse/detail sander w/ finger attachment. It’s great for fine detail work/hard to reach spots. Only down side is battery life isn’t the best The Lexivon Torx bit set surprisingly good quality for what you pay (
I'm sure this has been requested but could you please do a once a month (however often) USA made video? Maybe they're more and I know they're like finding a needle in metal shavings but I think a lot of your subscribers would give these brands a chance. Thank you.
Another good tool to look into is Plasma Cutters for home gamers. Their top rated cutter LOTOS is less than 1/2 of HF and higher rated than HF Titanium by most review sites.
