At the end of the day everyone is a winner as now they have all probably lost at least 40 pounds and have gained more of their confidence back.

I’m so proud of them. I used to think this show was demeaning but to have these people work themselves and push themselves to make a huge change is beautiful. I used to be the person who was very body positive, and by that I mean any weight is okay. And while I still believe you should love yourself at any weight, that love should motivate you to be healthy. I’ve personally lost 23 lbs in two months and I feel so proud that I have been able to finally make the change. These people are such a beautiful inspiring example that we can all do what we put our mind AND our hearts to.
The way they push these people to lose that much weight this fast, nearly every single one of them regains a lot of weight. I don't know if the show has changed in the past couple of years, but they weren't addressing a lot of the mental issues these people were having, so when they got back home, they ended right back to where they were.
There was an interview with one guy who won (I think it was season 5 or 6) who had such a screwed up metabolism that his basal metabolic rate was roughly 500 calories less than a man his size should be (he was around 180 lbs if I remember right). Quick weight loss like this can cause it.
I understand that the show inspires a lot of people, and the contestants put forth tremendous effort, but I don't think it reflects healthy weightloss and lifestyle changes.
