    Oh my gosh your job sounds absolutely terrifying you should be so proud for being able to do that! I'm currently in that stressful unemployment phase and it is quite hard but it is giving me a lot of time which I sometimes manage to use wisely and take care of myself other times wallow in feelings of shame, hopelessness, and self-loathing. I'm planning to apply to volunteer at a dog rescue place or an op shop tomorrow as it always looks good on the CV and I think it will make me feel less useless. Fingers crossed ay.

    I struggle with my knees too and I've wanted a cane for years now. I've never bought one tho because people always say "but you will lool disabled" and they say it in such a negative way. So what if I look what I am, I want to be able to walk for more than 40 minutes! Thanks for showing us the cane, brings me courage to get my own soon 💜

    Rebecca why don't you just sew the strap back on your backpack? It would be easy to do and the rest of you bag looks like it's in perfect shape. And you wouldn't be wasting it. Hand stitching would work bit it would take ages (I spent about 40 minutes sticking my backpack strap on when it came apart on holiday in Amsterdam. Or if you have a machine it will be really quick.

    Doing that work takes courage! I would imagine that approaching people and asking them to purchase something that might be a "luxury" is hard, many rejections. I worked once as a shoe salesman at a fair, first and last, I am very shy and having to approach people that wouldn't even let me finish my opening line to hush me and say "not interested" was a blow to me every single time, and having that blow given to me many times over the day was just frustrating. So yeah, kudos for you, you are my hero, as always. I do hope you find something that will be more easy going on the anxiety and specially on your body, something that involves an office where you can sit. Best wishes Becky!

    • @beckiejbrown
      @beckiejbrown  6 років тому

      shojorebecca I legally get twenty minutes but I’ve learned that taking those twenty minutes means that I run the risk of losing many customers and sometimes every customer counts. Or, when I’m on my break, I can’t relax as people approach me or I’m repeatedly interrupted. There’s no break room just reception at a pool. It’s a tough situation. So I work it best I can. X

    I'm impressed you went for a job that's primarily focused on children in what I imagine is a children dominated environment when you've said so many times on here how much you hate children and any noise related to them! Swimming pools are so noisy to start with, I struggle with them as a fairly sound sensitive person. Well done on sticking it out, I know needs must sometimes

  • @clairemckinley691

    Ayyy we have the same water bottle! ( or flask! As you say. I had no idea British people called them flasks not water bottles. It sounds much cooler) Mine is blue though. I’ve found that it can leak sometimes, if it’s in my bag and my bag is on its side and I’m putting pressure on my bag by leaning on it or something, the top can burst open. I have soaked a few books that way, so be careful.
    That’s cool that you have a cane. I mean, obviously it’s not cool that you’re in a lot of pain, but it’s cool that you’re able to have something to help you and keep you stable. I’ve been considering getting one for a while now because of my Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, but have been holding out until my pain and joints degenerate so much that it’s completely necessary. Though I am a bit wary, because it’s likely that using a cane will cause more problems in my wrists. I know that you’re hyper mobile as well, so keep an eye out for any changes in your wrist mobility and see if you get any pain in them after using your cane for a while. I’ve recently started working for the first time and I have to be on my feet for 4 hours at a time. I know it isn’t that much compared to 9 hours, but for me that is a suuuuper long time, and by the end I am hobbling around like a 3 legged dog. A cane would be very useful for me there.
    Sorry for the very long comment. This video was so nice and chilled, your voice seemed even more lovely than usual. Also the parts of the video where you were red, they had a super cool aesthetic, with your shirt and various objects in the background also being red. Idk it looked cool. Have a lovely day/evening/whatever it is in england.

    I've also been having to walk with a stick for the last 2 years as well as I have a dropped foot that is worsening, some of my friends and family still don't know I do (as I don't see them that often) and I sometimes I feel too ashamed to take it out with me, even though I know I will be suffering from my foot (Oh well) lol

      IronRainbow We don’t know one another anymore, so I don’t want her content. Good for her if she has. I know she’s been very ill this year and checked in at the time and hoping she’s okay. As for the stick, I’ve not used it on public transport yet. Luckily/unluckily - I’ve not worked in London with it. I didn’t take it to my interviews as I didn’t want to explain it. It’s definitely been supportive though. I’m happy it’s here. The internet has been mixed. Some huge and fairly distressing criticism - but at the end of the day - I wouldn’t have it, if I didn’t feel I needed it. My comment is a bit summarised but hope it answers some questions. Xx
