  • Out of nowhere it seems RIDGID is now making welders and when we go to Home Depot, we see some interesting information. In the past couple years, Home Depot has killed off several brands in order to make room for TTI alternatives. Are Lincoln welders next?

    I'm betting money that TTI is paying a lot of money to home depot to push the smaller American brands out.

    I recently watched a video of a bunch of Pakistanis making hammers. They were all in the room tossing around glowing red hammer heads and using huge air hammers to shape them while nobody was wearing any sort of safety glasses, and most of them were just wearing sandals on their feet. Places like that with guys working in them like that are who we are competing with. Next time you join a union and threaten to go on strike, that’s where your job is going too!

    I got the RMP-140 a couple months ago to try out. It is absolutely an orange Forney Easy Weld 140 MP. I checked the manual page by page and the only thing different is RIDGID in place of Forney in the naming, every instruction is identical and every page is the same between the two. Forney has a good history and I thought this was a solid machine for its intended use. HD was a little lower price at the time than the Forney.

    It's been looking to me like RIGID have been slapping their name on alibaba imports for a while now. They're not the rugged tools maker my dad used for his plumbing and pipefitting. When I started buying my own tools I trusted the Rigid name because my dad did and his tools from the '70s still hold up, but the Rigid tools I bought have given up the ghost and the lifetime warranty is no more because apparently the lifetime warranty was only until they discontinue one chinese import in favor of another chinese import, so it was the lifetime of availability of the tool they slapped their logo on.
    I trust the HF name more than I trust Rigid these days.

    I mean look at the lincoln welders at HD. They have A LOT of dust on em. The kind of people that use lincoln are buying them from Airgas with a corporate account. Chinesium welders are pretty good these days and unless you're welding everyday all day, you don't need the duty cycle that comes with the lincoln/Miller at 4x the price point. And let's be serious here. "American" welders aren't really. They're using rhe same components as the Chinese are. The "manufacturer" is just putting components from elsewhere in a box the same way the people that build their own PCs do.

Emerson owns the Ridgid (orange) brand and contracts with TTI to manufacture the orange Ridgid tools. Ridgid (red) tools, largely targeting plumbing professionals, are made by Ridge Tool company, which is itself owned by Emerson. It's practically a part time job keeping track of it all.

      Harbor Freight is an American based company that employees more Americans than any other tool company. Not to mention that they’ve been ADDING more more American Made tools to their inventory. This is Co. that supports Americans and has been making the tool industry better. Home Depot has nearly killed Estwing and several other American brands as they become the TTI store. As to snap on they are a predatory company that overcharges that forces unsustainable debt on their dealers and onto young mechanics. They’ve been sued thousands of times at this point by their own franchisees, they destroy American families and prey on vets all to turn a profit.

      @funny0000000 29 днів тому +5

      @@denoftools That is true but in the 80's and 90's when USA made tools were still popular HFT pushed a million containers of stuff from China until every USA tool company lowered their priced and quality until in the end they too made all their goods in China or went out of business. Now they are an American based company with more American workers that other tool companies as you said. The numbers of workers than have is small compared to all the jobs lost making USA products though. HFT changed the tool industries for the worse back then and now we accept them as the gold standard today because their is no affordable USA tool companies around. We you even using tools in the 70's, 80's, and 90's or did you just get in to this as UA-cam became a way to make a living? Home Depot and Wal-Mart did the same thing. What you are talking about with Estwing is what I am talking about with HFT back then. People would gladly buy a USA craftsman hammer for a fair price until HFT came to town with their $2 hammers from China with the head flying off and handles breaking and hurting people. Lets not forget that HFT is the inventory of the jack stands that kill their customers if you want to talk about lawsuits. Again you replied with how great HFT is. I just wonder how much they pay you? I thought it was cute how you were worried about another American tool company right around Memorial Day. Tomorrow will be business as usual I guess. It is too late to worry about US tool companies. It is like Biden saying he is going to save US Steel when he had 40 years in office to save it and he watched it sell to Japan while president. I don't want to get political but that is exactly how it is. I have supported USA companies that made products for 50 years and the only reason I comment is to support and defend them. One day China other other counties will own the USA. Lets just hope we are not alive to see it but it will happen with all the debt we have all everyone is ashamed, gets shunned, or gets blocked for supporting the USA. Long Live the USA not just on Memorial Day but on EVERYDAY!

      @funny0000000 29 днів тому +2

      @@devone6139 They have moved to some import stuff because they have to stay in business because of people like you. It is not being a good American buying products from other countries. It is almost to the point that Memorial day should not be a holiday because the next day everyone turns around and supports other countries. Support your own people and own country. In the 80's and 90's all the people that went nuts for Harbor Freight cause 100's of USA tool companies to fail. Now HFT and all the import car companies have convinced you that you are supporting the USA since they hire American's but that is fake. American's should buy American made stuff. Someday other countries will own the USA and that is a fact. Snap-On should not have to make China junk like HFT stuff. Trust me, they don't to. Everyone is to blame that picks up a product and buys it when it does not say "Made in the USA" on it. I realize it is not your fault and it goes back 30+ years. If the American people would have thought with their brain and not their wallet being so cheap we would never be in the situation this country is in right now. The best days are long gone and nobody can make this country great again except if all American's work together and stop supporting other countries that don't care about us. We well all demanded USA made cars and tools and everyday products that country could return to what it was but odds are that happening are almost zero because every American is now in love with cheap China products.
