But that’s what the WAU does. It won’t LET you die. It would keep you from fading away regardless of the consequences. It’s one goal; its only purpose… is to keep humanity alive at ANY COST. Whether that’s reanimating a brain scan of a human and putting it in a robot body, or filling you with structure gel that slowly replaces your flesh, your lungs, your mind. It will stop you from ceasing to exist in any way it can. You can’t die. You can’t be put out of your misery. To the WAU, you must be kept ‘alive’.
I really wished the devs kept Aker’s monologue. It would make him so much creepier with the revelation he never devolved into a mindless monster. Also, Ashley looks horrifying with a rotted-off maggot-infested face.

I know it might be a bit much for these style of videos but.. Are you going to go through each map in the frictional games to showcase secrets and/or stuff that we normally couldn't see? Aka noclipping through each map?
Well currently I´m working on the MS Curie and the Cassandra Wreck were I´m doing a bit of out-of-bounds exploration since there aren´t so many singular models left to discuss I feel like that kind of thing might pay off quite a bit in Rebirth and SOMA, since the maps in both games are really vast compared to the other titles... the software I´m currently using isn´t too ideal for that but maybe I can figure out how to debug the games, we will see, with Christmas rolling closer and me having to manage my Job as well chances are I will have to slow down the upload rate in the foreseeable future again but if there is an interest then I´m happy to continue
but thats the thing... you don't accept the dreams, because they are just dreams there is difference in winning in "reality" and winning just by magically things getting better... some people maybe will accept that, BUT will you? knowing it is a dream and NOTHING change for nnyone just you alone becaus you feel better?
I think it's rather odd that many people simply oversee the dreamers and the possibility of having a peak into their dreams. Technically, the WAU managed to put them into their own arks and thus pretty much proves that it is learning to understand human desires. For me that finally was the main argument for not killing the WAU at the end of the story.
For me there is also Simon being a creation that isn’t monstrous as the others and is sane Individual who isn’t stuck to WAU like other people like Amy or Carl. But Also Johan is example of Wau bring the original person back to life and not a copy. I see people like Simon and Johan as WAU testing and getting close to creating or bringing back people in self substantially way, along with wildlife report showing endanger species and extinct sea life population rising back up, I believe Overtime The Wau would bring back life and also Humanity Back, it obviously wouldn’t how we would envision it but it would a heavy modified Human made to survive harsh deep ocean till it one day safe to return to back to land

He basically did exactly what Simon and Cath did, excpet with the original people instead of a copied consciousness with a subtle lie attached to it. Dreams can induce a sense of peace, that is until they become a strangling nightmare that you pray to wake up from. Would death be a better outcome? The mysterious peace of death taken away from the unwary and unwilling. Who knows, but always remember that not all dreams are happy.
Simon would be okay in the wau dreamscape. He has no physical body so pain would not be a factor to him. He already has a copy of himself at the ark and is now stuck in endless darkness until the battery of his suit or the wau he if or not killed the WAU
Im guessing the Maggot Face Ashley looks that way as Simon is fighting back agasint the Dream, as he knows it fake as he shouldnt be back in his apartment and knows She is dead thus the dream gets corrupted as he realizes this can’t be true, if he didn’t question it and accepted it i would assume Ashley would look normal and everything would be fine as along as he plays alongs with it.

It's not, the model was reused. Originally it was supposed to be Simon's sister, in a nightmare sequence where Simon stands at his mother's grave and Ashley is there too, but her face is covered with worms. The idea was scrapped, and making models is time-consuming, and since she doesn't turn around and Simon doesn't stand up either during the WAU dream, you wouldn't notice a thing.
Yes it is actually like that, but you never see it, since her back is turned. As eloi pointed out, it's a reused asset from a cut sequence. Probably has no significance in the final version of the game, but it is an eerie detail nonetheless. I would imagine that it doesn't matter whether the WAU knows what she looked like, as it would be creating dreams from Simon's own memories anyway.

His state of mind is PERFECT but the fact he is still just a PC with 2 cameras and a microphone (i.e his existence) makes him.still just another curious experiment and not the solution for humam survival. The only real way forward is for the WAU is to perfect the process of putting brainscans into machines. Eventually, they could maybe figure out a way to clone human beings with the DNA from the staff at Pathos II and maybe there'd be enough be a big enough gene pool for repopulation. Either that, or there could be an army of robots that slowly fix the Earth. It would at least be something.
It’s such a shame you can’t interact with almost none of the characters, it would have been cool if there was an interact menu like the one in red dead redemption, to try to talk with them and ask them things, and maybe try to wake them up
Sub earned been binge watching all of these videos I played SOMA for the first time in 2019 and still think about it to this day, I also love the amnesia games but the sci-fi horror gets to me a lot and SOMA was the most emotional game.

how can you hear the dreamer's dreams? i only hear the corpses breathing after being plugged into the mind coral... perhaps i am not listening to the right corpses
ingame it´s a bit difficult to hear, since their voices are accompanied by a strange static noise, there are also long intervalls between each monologue and it´s not always possible to stay near them and listen since the Proxies are on the prowl in that area
You know, its been literal years since I was familiar with soma. It honestly bothers me that the crew never at any point considered going back up to the surface. Its entirely possible that there is something that im forgetting that would explain why they didn't, but as far as I remember the impact is over. And as much as most large surface life is probably completely gone, the thing is life is really, **really** stuborn. There would be things that survived. Life would oh so slowly recover. And as for the Hazzards such as valcanoc ash making the air dangerous, that could be circumvented by technology. Hazmats, dust and fume masks, ect. So why didn't they go back up? Even if humanity as a speicies was doomed and wouldn't be able to repopulate, I would think that at least some of the scientists would want to study the life that was fighting to reclaim the surface. Like, unless the oceans all boiled and all landmasses were flattened, *something* would survive. And if the surface really was that level of destroyed, then I don't think that ocean base wouldn't have survived either. Idk. I feel like in that kind of situation, I'd would have wanted to go back to the surface if for no other reason than to see what life was still finding a way in the wreckage.
Radiation, Carbondioxide and a few other reasons if I recall one of them, Antje Coetze actually did go up to the surface on foot to live out her final days on the surface station Omega

Akers was not a bad guy, He wanted to save his crew from an untimely gruesome death, malnutrition, starvation, oxygen deprived, drowning, etc. S

Terry Akers having a southern hillbilly accent when he's supposed to be a super intelligent scientist fits horribly for his character.
He's a well educated southern former hillbilly that just can't shake the accent. It clearly didn't stop him from getting a position on the crew (or jabbing everyone with gel)
He is chief Factor at Delta, so he likely deals more with the supervision of assembly work
he also seemed to like photography and chess
