Great video! Although, you didn't rectify that William of Orange was not really the first king (he and a lot of descendants had the title of 'stadholder' (which is the replacement of the count')). The Netherlands were a republic after all (one of the few in Europe in the 16th, 17th and 18th century). The Dutch Republic (literaly 'The Republic of the Seven United Netherlands) existed until 1795, when it was conquered by the French Republic and replaced by the Batavian Republic (1795-1806) , the Kingdom of Holland (1806-1810) and complete French occupation (1810-1813). After Napoleon had been defeated, the Netherlands became a kingdom. Many people think that William I (crowned in 1815) was the first king of the Netherlands, but strictly speaking it was actually the brother of emperor Napoleon I, Louis Bonaparte (who was also the father of emperor Napoleon III). He ruled as king of Holland from 1806 until 1810.

The April fools thingy and it's correlation with the 80 years war is something I doubt about really. But the "war stuff" legend is explained like this: During the Dutch revolt the Spanish Duke of Alva was sent to the low countries to stop them. But on the first of April (in 1572 I think) he lost Brielle, then named Den Briel. When a war officer had to tell this loss to the Duke, he misunderstood the message and he thought that he lost his glasses Op 1 april verloor Alva zijn bril Op 1 april verloor Alva Den Briel

You could have mentioned Mata Hari in the famous people section of the the Nether regions video. She was a Dutch (Friesland) exotic dancer and courtesan who was convicted of being a spy for Germany during World War I and executed by firing squad in France. Her life is veiled in mystery and legend.
one thing that you forgot to mention in both videos is that the netherlands also has a large morroccan minority
What a blessing! Multiculturalism
He did mention that actually
@@DaveWraptastic I believe that he mentioned the mollucans, not morroccans, however, i'll have to look back
@@ivar185 And is there something wrong with that? :)

Who else thinks flag Friday should concentrate more on Flags. I would have to loved to see more information of the flags of the municipalities and constituencies rather than fan mail
3:54 Man those lions have long Schlongs! 😂
Just look at the Schlong sizes chart for average size in the world. You'll understand why they are that long xD
I wonder what the flag of Congo would look like though. You'll understand when you look at the charts of the averages
@@CharterForGaming backhanded compliments! Love your style
Yeah ... it's called "rampant" :D

Liqourish powder instructions:

(Alternatively, apply powder directly to tongue.)
Put the powder in your mouth-not your hand.

When in Belgium don't forget to go to the Ardennes region and visit the battlefield where the bulge is and visit American cemeteries (near Spa or Luxembourg airport) or the German ones (near Luxembourg airport) both very interesting. But, if going to Flanders don't forget the commonwealth cemeteries (everywhere in north east Flanders). Both very fun.

The April fools thingy and it's correlation with the 80 years war is something I doubt about really. But the "war stuff" legend is explained like this:
During the Dutch revolt the Spanish Duke of Alva was sent to the low countries to stop them. But on the first of April (in 1572 I think) he lost Brielle, then named Den Briel.
When a war officer had to tell this loss to the Duke, he misunderstood the message and he thought that he lost his glasses
Op 1 april verloor Alva zijn bril
Op 1 april verloor Alva Den Briel
