    Nice vid, love watching things come together. I will say that in the time it took to watch this entire video I was able to cut out one (yes “1”) hatchet sheath from 8-9 oz Tandy leather. The tooling really saves time in getting the project moving especially when you’re dealing with hard leather.

    Just curios on what wing divider you’re using? It looks like it does a pretty good job on channeling out the leather for counter sinking the thread. Do you find that it works better than an actually stitch groover? I find that my stitch groover (even with a new blade) puckers the outer edge of the leather. It would be good to find an alternative solution.

    As a newbie fresh into the leather crafting world, what is the Tan Kote finish you used? What is it doing to/for the leather? In my limited knowledge, I would have thought the neatsfoot oil to be a sufficient finish alone.
    Regardless, it came out looking beautiful and flawlessly professional. Very well done, sir.

    • @EmelyA1218
      @EmelyA1218 3 роки тому

      Tan Kote is a top finish gives it more of a protective layer. Neatsfoot is more of a oil to help soften and break in

    You should of made a few belt blanks before cutting it down. I cannot keep them in my shop. Working crew people love them. Try using a carpenters knife. Just run the blade over a polisher with a little Jewelers rouse first, yes sharpen the new blade. It will cut it.

    I was going to ask you this question last year but life got in the way... why don't you sell this and a few other project as a DIY kit on your web site. Supply the leather pre cut to size with loop holes cut toss in the thread for hand stitching & we do the rest. This could also work on some of your other project. I'd buy a DIY kit or two. This would work great for a lot of viewers.
    I also need a good holster for a latherman tool & one for a edc tac light like the convoy S2+ this could be other kits you could sell.
    Sure I have a Tandy store close buy but I don't have a clicker press or belt loop cutter plus Tandys kits suck...

    Ur knives ain't sharp enough. Trust me u can get knives that are so sharp they r scary to use. I have one that has a titanium blade n it scares the hell outta me to use. So I only use it when I need a blade that u would think would sink to the core if u dropped it lol
