I've had the absolute best time filming this video. I really was living my best life as summer was starting and it was so magical to capture all these special moments. My goal for this video was to capture how the start of summer feels. The magic that's in the air when one season is turning into the next. I cannot WAIT for summer! The warm sun, the subtle breeze, the smell of fresh flowers and sound of busy buzzing bees, not having to wear bulky jackets but instead wearing flowy dresses and sandals. Not only all that but the beach on the warmest day of the year and feeling the sand under your feet and listening to the ocean doing its daily duty. What a dream this will be in just a few months! Thank you for this beautiful reminder of what is to come
Made lilac syrup, eating straight from the garden, drying rose petals, wearing my summer witchy hats, making sun teas, dining al fresco, watching the goldfinch flitting about the birdfeeder, reading spooky summer books, chatting with our bees, cloud watching, sleeping with the windows open..... enjoying all the summer moments.

@@CelisticMarion The plan this summer, shaky as it may be since I have a great library and bookstores nearby, is to read books with a summery theme or setting from my OWN shelves. To that end I have several toppling stacks of selected books near my nightstand. It includes a little bit (or a lot) of most genres. But I'm particularly determined to read the spooky ones, which include Her Dark Lies by J. T. Ellison, The Lovely and the Lost by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Black Rabbit Hall by Eve Chase, and The Solstice Wood by Patricia McKillip. I also have two middle grade spookies - Wretched Waterpark by Kiersten White and What Lives in the Woods by Lindsay Currie. I've already read What Lies in the Wood by Kate Alice Marshall (last year I read her YA book Rules for Vanishing, Iove her books), and Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant (which was entertaining but not really the mood I am looking for, I'm more interested in spooky woods and old houses with secrets.) What about you? Any planned books for the summer, spooky or otherwise?

I am currently reading A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. My next read is A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows by Holly Renee(which is a fantasy romance, I think?) Then I have Spells for Lost Things by Jenna Evans Welch, Lending a Paw by Laurie Cass, Put Out to Pasture by Amanda Flower (which I might save for a cozy autumn read), The Lady in The Attic by Tara Randel, and These Silent Woods by Kimi Cunningham Grant. 🤗

Hi Desi! Your first sourdough looks great! I used to run a sourdough business in the Summers and wanted to share some tips. You definitely don’t need a Dutch oven for it to work. I’d recommend putting a pan of water on the bottom shelf of your oven while you’re baking to keep the air moist; it mimics a convection oven and keeps the bread from drying out which is the point of the Dutch oven. Also, the gummy texture could be from over hydration, but it could also be undercooked. And if you cut the loaf before letting it cool completely, that can lead to a gummy texture, too. I hope this helps!! I also think you’d really enjoy doing sourdough painting and/or pressing edible flowers into the top of the dough! It’s totally your vibe.

I’m watching this in July and when June ended, I was already sad about being one month closer to winter and how I have even less days of summer left. Very strange, but the last part of the video as you were walking down the road, I smelled the smell of wet trees (in my head? For real?) I found this very relaxing and I wish I lived in an area where line drying was allowed as well as just your beautiful surroundings. Loved this. Kudos on the bread. That's on my summer list!
Hi Desi! I used to work at a local bookstore near you in RI and all those titles are available through our store! When it’s not on our shelves we order it from the publisher and can mail it directly to you (with cute stickers sometimes too) Although it might come a few days after something from Amazon, supporting indie bookstores not only gives the author more money when you buy their book but it also puts more money into the local economy and gives people like me a job. While Amazon is very convenient it is sadly has really ruined the book industry. I just wanted to let you know most bookstores can order you whatever you want! Loving these summer vibes and I look forward to these videos all year long!

Ahh I'm loving the summer vibes in this vid! Sourdough tip: it probably felt a bit wet and gummy because it wasn't fully cooled. As much as it pains me to say, you shouldn't cut the bread fresh out of the oven because the steam will cause it to get that weird texture. Once it's fully cooled, however, the texture is typically much better and more "breadier". Also, don't worry about not having a Dutch oven! It's helpful but absolutely not necessary. Happy baking!

You have really inspired me to embrace the things I love about each season. I am someone who has struggled with summer in the past, but I am choosing now to focus on all of the things I love about it. I live in the deep south where it gets very hot and humid. However, on most days, we get afternoon thunderstorms that are so cozy and magical, and it is the perfect reading weather. It reminds me of autumn, being indoors with warm blankets , flickering candles, and a good book. And in the early mornings, my favorite time of day, the temperature is warm and there is mist all around. There is magic to be found in every season. Glimmer was a word we commonly used in the 70s. The 70s was surely a glimmerous time.
Thank you for your constant inspiration. I wish I could show you my glimmers. I recently came out of an abusive marriage and started over from scratch with little. But your videos are sweet blessings and have given me so much inspiration. I have taken to redecorating my sitting/living room and bedroom with what really makes me happy (which is actually very similar to your way of decorating). I have been able to turn my little apartment into one of the happiest, sweetest and most peaceful places I have ever lived. My two kittens, Cotton and Velvet, and I have created a loving space that brings me joy every time I walk through the door. It makes me cry sometimes to see the difference in my life now. Sorry to be that obnoxious sourdough person, but I have a couple of tips below if you want! I've been making sourdough for a few years now and it really is an art form.
1. I couldn't tell from the video, but it didn't look like you preheated your oven. You need to let it preheat at 500 WITH the cast iron inside for an hour. Then you carefully remove the cast iron and plop your dough right in. The quick cold to hot helps it develop a nice crust.
2. Another thing I couldn't tell in the video, but if you cut into your baked bread before it's cooled entirely, it will get gummy. It needs time to essentially finish steaming on the inside before it's sliced. Just because it's out of the oven doesn't mean it's done cooking.
These notes might be useless but they might help! Sourdough is so fun and rewarding. I unfortunately can't make any over the summer as the preheating process warms our house up too much - but best of luck!

Living with real intent! Slow down and write a letter to a friend, a loved one, and let them know thoughts of them were part of your day… and mail it at the post office. Those letters are going to be seen by great great grandchildren. They will be their windows into the past… you know the one you created when you slowed down and wrote a letter. Go buy some flowed stamps and commit to writing and mailing one letter a week regardless if that person writes back… someone will write you back.

I love your videos so much. As someone who is chronically ill and can't get out to do a lot even in my own backyard, I really appreciate these glimpses of the beautiful things that you do. I am also someone who appreciates the little things and I love all the little touches in your videos. You find the cutest things even if it's a berry tea or a cute beach hat or delicious snacks, books, cozy days, just everything. I try to enjoy life the same way every day as I can. I am bedridden a lot of the time, and your videos bring comfort .
This is so cute and inspiring. I wish I wasn't so heat intolerant and I could actually go outside and enjoy the summer, but alas, if it's hotter than 70, I start to get heat stroke and I am non-functional for the rest of the day, sometimes two. This seems so lovely. Enjoy your summer darling!

Certain time i've discovered this channel. And that time was so troubled, but brought me a brake to my thoughts. Had been wacthed and listened this was a certain reencounter eith myself from the past.
Nowdays, i watch this channel and feel like i am reading and SEEING a poetry book.
The songs, the images, the edition... all tends to a real profound and unique touch that makes me connect with all the good memories that i lost within all those years.
