@@rachelamber8613 most forms of media don't treat non-heterosexual couples the same way. it used to literally be illegal to portray a homosexual or their romantic relationship (unless the lgbt+ person is a villian, and their sexuality is said to be 'wrong' in the film), and if you didn't follow the rules, your movie wouldn't be funded. so, sadly, it's always been a really big, common thing for movies to take the piss on any lgbt relationships.

When it comes to personal matters, his reason flies out the window and he makes sloppy mistakes. He's never had to care for someone other than his late mum and he's slowly realizing that his actions may permanently damage his friendship with Ed.
Tafami I completely agree. The irony is so frustrating. Watching this spiral out of control is so annoying and upsetting, because I like their friendship. They both need a friend and Oswald might have just ruined that for good.

Conibal i agree that isabella needs to go, but what also needs to happen is the separation between nygma and cobblepot. Love makes them weak... Riddler can't become Riddler if he stays with penguin and penguin can't become penguin in his weakened state. Whats going to happen is inevitable. If gotham has taught me anything... no one stays happy
KG7 Plaz I agree that no one stays happy on this show, but I don't think love is their actual weakness. I think if anything is their weakness, it's loss. When Oswald's mother was alive, he was in full control of himself and controlled Gotham for a while, but when he lost her he went blind with rage and almost got himself killed. Ed was less murderous when he and Miss Kringle were a thing (probably because he knew she wouldn't approve which wouldn't be a problem with Oswald), but all of his first murders happened because he wanted to protect her and as soon as he lost her again he pretty much went crazy.
I don't think they slow each other down but accelerate each other. They killed together already and without Ed's friendship in season 2 Oswald might not have gotten his ambition and murderous-ness back

I'm sorry to intrude on your conversation, but I think as well as your point of love being their weakness or not, Oswald's mum and Miss Kringle were considered weakness to love because they could be hurt very easily. They weren't criminals, they were innocents. They weren't truly aware of who it was they were loving. In comparison, Oswald and Ed know exactly what the other is capable of, they can both take care of themselves and they're in the same world now despite their very different backgrounds. Surely that means that if they do love each other, they won't be burdened by the other, only strengthened. :)
Gotham hurt me so deeply
Oswald will accept anyone who shows him compassion and affection. He will try to hold on to anyone who does because he believes there’s not a lot of people out there that would love him. Which is why he went as far as killing Isabella. Then he learns a bit more about love thanks to Ed.
I really would like to see what would have happened if Ed hadn’t met Isabella at the winery that night. How would the story have been different if he had gone to that dinner and Oswald confessed his feelings? Of course I can always read fanfiction to see what other people think, but I would really like to know what the actual writers of gotham would have done.

I agree. In fact, I don't even expect a happy ending since normal traditional couples don't get in on the show, it's Gotham after all. Broken people like Oswald and Edward have twisted ideas of what "love" is, so whatever relationship they will have in the end, requited or not, it won't be healthy anyway (the same way that Harley Quinn and Joker are NOT relationship #goals, for fucks sake, it's abusive as hell). The fact that the writers acknowledged the possibility of it happening and went through with it instead of leaving it ~ambiguous~, is already an amazing step, since they risk losing a lot of views because of homophobic neckbeards. And we already know that Edward is into ladies, so if he doesn't return the feelings it won't be a huge surprise.

If we were homophobic we wouldn't be watching gotham at all. Robin Lord Taylor is gay but he has been a shining light in this Gotham series.
Creating a "romance" between two legendary villans from the Batman mythos is just so cheap. "Queerbaiting" is actually a pretty good term to describe. Writers are trying to be "creative" and it fails on us comic book fans. Sure gotham is notorious for not sticking to the comic book storylines but this gay romance is ridiculous.

I have inquired many people who say "they don't like this direction.
After pressing and pressing, many would finally admit either one or a combination of the ff:
1) They don't like gays in comic stories (despite the DC comics having LGBTQ characters. Also everybody seem to forget why Comic Code Authority is deplorable. And that X-Men is an allegory of LGBTQ discrimination)
2) They think girl x girl is socially acceptable, but guy x guy is gross. The double standards excuse.
3) They don't like LGBTQ representation on TV, because they think non-heterosexuality is immoral and deem it as liberal agenda.
But for some reason they watched season 1 and 2 (um... there were bisexuals and lesbian from the start of the show)
4) They think LGBTQ representation on TV corrupts children (very Comic Code Authority mindset isn't it?), but for some reason they're totally okay with letting their child watch the violence on Gotham.
5) The infamous, it's not following canon rebuttal. For some reason they're totally okay with all the changes made but lose their minds on this change. And when asked to explain the difference either no answers comes back or they say reason 1,2,3,4.

It's annoying how Robin is denying what is actually in the script because he thinks Oswald is not a good lgbt representation. Yes, Oswald is a villain. Yes, he is cruel, he does not take Ed's feelings into account for a while (but then he actually does). But let's speak about... Severus Snape. Yeah. He fell in love with Lily at a very vulnerable time. He was surely a very damaged person. He used to hurt people who were close to Lily e.g. he dropped a stick on Petunia's head and he openly supported a group of guys who believed killing and torturing muggles is a good thing. He didn't really take her feelings into account. He didn't realize he was ready to sacrifice something for her 'till it was too late. But... do we talk about him being "confused" or "not understanding his feelings"? No, because he is a guy (a damaged guy) who fell in love with a girl. So PLEASE let's not talk about Ozzie "confusing gratitude for love", let a villain be gay, let any tv character be gay and fall in love, because representation is not about making only good healthy people gay to show that being gay is good, it is about showing gay love is as normal and random as straight love.
