This just popped up in my feed. Yeah it’s a couple years old, but very much appreciate the video. Born and raised in Westfield. No longer there, but clearly the fish still are. I have to say I took the history of the waterways for granted. Did not however take for granted the amount and quality of fish the Westfield and tributaries hold. Knee high through high school we slammed it. My favorite is a small stretch down near the old Strathmore. Was a hike getting in, so worth it though! Gotta get back there soon. Much appreciate the content
If you check out my channel, you will see a few different vids from the Westfield, including one down below Strathmore in Woronoco. I basically combine a little history with fishing in all the longer videos. Thanks for the kind words...and your right...the fish are still there ..and the old spots are still producing.
This would be a good year to make the foray. Water levels are great and look to be stable for a couple weeks. All Western Massachusetts wild trout rivers are well above summer normal, cool and rapidly clearing!
I agree to a point. If you try to hold it out horizontally like you do with a bass... absolutely. If you hold it vertically, not likely if it's not too big. I hear you though...and as a catch and release guy...will avoid the lip!
No No Parking signs means pull off the road and fish. That road probably sees less than 100 vehicles per day on weekdays. You won't have an issue. It's VERY low and warm now though...but a few days after a big TStorm will produce.
you go right by Smokey Bergeron's house on Basket Street!
