Notes:
I got here by plane and a Covid vaccine is still required, so make sure you have that before entering Colombia.
The local currency is the Colombian peso, the exchange rate with the US Dollar is currently 4700.
I booked in most of the places I went to, but for the sunset rooftop bars, try getting there at least an hour before sunset to secure a table.
As always , I realise that this guide doesn’t cover EVERY single activity (like island tours and the walk inside the fortress for example), but after lots of research and traveling in the area, it’s how I personally believe you should spend your time if 2 days is all you have.

Beautiful city and spectacular views from the Convent of La Popa. I know the colonial history of Cartagena, the defense of the city of Blas de Lezo is very famous, and I loved the historical and modern fusion of the city that you've shown. Interesting vlog, Kristina.

I had similar rappers follow me and threaten me and my girlfriend. We just ordered an Uber and got out of there but you still have to be careful n these areas. There are many police present but that doesn’t mean it’s always safe.

I visited Cartagena last November and found it to be a third world dump. The surrounding area is full of dilapidated, empty buildings. The streets are filthy and spotted with undrained, puddled runoff that leaves the air with a stench. Everyone is traveling the streets in a mad rush to get wherever and driving however they please. A plaza area was being prepared for some kind of celebration with powered rifle armed militia standing watch everywhere. There was nothing to see or do while there. Tourist buses take travelers to specific places of interest and guardedly bus them back. I found this city a very undesirable place to visit. Santa Marta was even worse!
I'm so sorry to hear that, I didn't visit Santa Maria so can't have an opinion on that area but personally I really enjoyed Cartagena and would go back. It's really insightful to read experiences from other travellers and I thank you for taking the time to share yours and for watching the video :)
I was also in Cartagena and had a fabulous time. Absolutely beautiful a paradise in the Caribbean and very historic. Definitely will return. People where very friendly and hospitable 🇨🇴👍
I have spent a lot of time traveling and found Cartagena as well as Santa Marta fun and interesting places to vacation and possibly live.
Cartagena looks no different than anywhere else I would see in the Caribbean, Mexico and Africa. If you want American and European standards then stay in those countries!

Our flight took just over an hour and there were about 12 flights a day to choose from

@@TylerDylan21around 120$ if I recall. Prices vary according to time of year but it should never be too crazy.
