Ain't nothing like reggae bass lines.
That’s the truth👊🏾
What no breakneck speed? Just beautiful *bass* playing? Count me in. I could listen to this all day--this, to me, is the real art of bass playing--in the pocket, warm, and impossible to play if you don't have groove in your soul. And all those materials you make available here? This is such a gift. Thanks so much!!
sorry no breakneck speed🤣 UA-cam would have you believe improvising skills are all there is to bass playing. Thank You for the kind words👊🏾
@@donstrumental8905 any chance you can do a video on the party time riddim bass line
Simple beautiful
As a bassist myself, I have nothing but love and respect for this brother.
Blessings!!!
I listen to this everyday
The closest a human can ever be to being as comfortable as a cat is to listen to those baselines.
Best commwnt ever/i agree
That’s exactly how I feel.
Absolutely
UB40 was so recognizable. I don't play any instrument well, jus a bit, but bass is one of my favourites especially reggae basslines. I found basslines of Gregory Isaac's music so very recognizable and i love it!
I was born in Britain to Jamaican parents, in 1968 my older brother came from Jamaica singing Jamaican songs. We weren’t allowed such music in our strict Christian household, but when I left home I could reconnect with the Studio one, Trojan records, Rock steady. Toots and the Maytals and all that good stuff. I needed to hear and reconnect. Thank God for you as well !
This is like The Book of Genesis for Reggae Bass. Much Appreciated.
Studio one is what gave yellow man and so many
others sucess! The bass lines in a reggae song
is so important. Riddim up!
you have provided the tabs and notation plus audio to practise. Pls consider patreon account and take my money. This chanel is the best thing that happened to me since I started playing bass a year ago. Jah blessing dear Don!
Haha, I’m flattered that your willing to give me your money😀 maybe the patreon will come soon. I didn’t know these videos would create so much interest👊🏾

Don is actually numba wun bass teacher! keep going!
Kind words Alexander.
You are a master teacher.🙏
You are the real deal my friend! I'd love to see a video on bass tone (amp eq settings) and effects (compression, mutes) to get your sound.
I will be doing a video on sound soon👊🏾
Well, one of the best sounding reggae bass tone. Hardly waiting to see how do you make it (with the fingers of course) :-)
@@donstrumental8905 and it was fantastic
Dear Don, what to say first? The video alone is a blessing for all of us bass newbies, cause good reggae bass videos are rare still. Downloadable tabs? Thank you even more! Downloadable BACKING TRACKS W/OUT bass...? This kind of generosity is hard to find. Riddim Up indeed. Will stay locked in my cellar tonight! Thank you from Germany!
Riddim Up Ralf👊🏾

this is awsome , to putt it all in a medley ! now all again butt longer .
Love your work!
Very nice! I loved the Robbie lesson. Bass is mystical. As opposed to other instruments, it is something other than the notes played.

Nuff respect, thanks for this 🙏🏿 stay blessed. Been looking for videos like yours.
Thank you.
I am new to the bass and wanted to say 😊 for all the teaching and inspiration. Just placed an order for that nice riddim t-shirt. Much Respect 🙏
I played some of these a while back in a band and the big problem I had was remembering the rhythms for each so I managed to learn enough to be able to write somewhere near the correct notation as a memory aid - and here they are all done properly! Great lesson and invaluable having notation and tabs to accompany it thanks so much.
Thank you Nicky, I hope you still strive to remember them. Tip! Put them all in a playlist and listen to nothing else for a month. Would love to hear that you can run all 20 by memory. keep me posted👊🏾
Thanks for the tip and encouragement I'll give it a try 😍
