Proud Dad to Nathan, here. He worked SUPER HARD on this project. Matt nailed the title on the last attempt. Chillicothe Paper Company - otherwise known as Chilpaco (pronounced Chill-pay-coe). Thanks, Matt, for pouring into my boy, stretching his horizons and sharing tips, tricks and your passion for photography.
Dude, thank you so much for all the support on this zine. Having my work featured in a Matt Day video next to content from other photographers I look up to like Josh and Shane is crazy to me. I definitely wouldn't be repping Chillicothe so strongly if you hadn't set that example for me through your content. Seeing how you talk about Chillicothe has definitely impacted my view of this town and I just want to help promote that message even more from any platform I have available.
The Chilpaco zine looks great; I just ordered it. I worked (retired in 2018) for a company (AccuRay, now ABB) that provided measurement and control systems for many of the paper machines at this mill.
I just wanted to say that I really love these new types of videos you've been making, as someone who isn't interested in gear (nor can afford it), I find this content waaayyy more helpful and inspirational.
I always love your photo book reviews, but this time you've moved the bar a whole lot higher. The colour palette in Nathan's pictures reminds me of Kodachrome (RIP). So awesome to have another perspective on your hometown - I wonder how many more there are!
I just stumbled on this video years later looking for some cool photo books to get and I've genuinely always thought chilpaco was shot with old Kodachrome stock. I'm genuinely considering checking out an X100V. If it looks that close to kodachrome, I'd gladly swap my richoh for it.
Wow, Black Water River looks incredible! Thanks for reading from the book Matt, it's a really valuable insight and definitely made me more inclined to follow up in finding out more and more likely to purchase a copy. And speaking of Stanley Barker books, any chance of a 'Matt Day interviews Jason Lee' video when the black and white book drops??? Would love to see it!
Paused the video at 2 minutes in to snag that Chilpaco Zine. Nathan seems mad talented. Colors look wonderful from just the little bit I saw up to this point.
I love these videos because I always get exposed to different photographers and books I am not aware of. I really wish Blackwater River was not sold out because I was getting the card out ready to buy it. Another great video Matt!
Awesome video! One of my favorite authors used to work at the paper mill for 30 years (1970s to early 2000s)! I'm really enjoying the direction that your videos have taken.
All the books look great! One of my favorites, 10 miles west, the colors and coincidenses! Matt, can I ask you, your leica M6 has a 0.72 or 0.85 viewfinder? I like 18, 35 and 50 lenses, but also be able to use a 90. Is that posible with only one viewfinder? which is better for you? Thanks!
Hey Matt, great video as always. Just a quick question: where du you get these (costum?) skateboard decks on your wall from? Thanks and have a great weekend.
I just pre ordered Clyde Butchers new Everglades book. Hoping in it ships in a couple weeks. Very excited to have my morning coffee and take a cruise through the swamp with Clyde.
This was really helpful, Mat, as I am putting together a photo book of like here at the shore. Question is, do any of them have ISBN numbers, or dos a book even need an ISBN number? I am trying to figure out if I should get one for mine. Great video Matt, thank you!
Shane Taylor has a new book coming out made up of his colour work. If you want to get a really good sense of the mood of Britain (well, London at least) in a post Brexit world Shane's Instagram feed is excellent. He combines a sense of melancholy and isolation that is covered in a patina of nostalgia. It isn't "in your face" street photography. it is quiet and contemplative. We are looking in from a distance, much like Dave Heath's "Solitude" work. I'm very much looking forward to his new book.
A little photo book recommendation is Austin Augies Journal (he recently did a video with willem verbeeck). He‘s a photographer/bmx rider, and the book is a collection of photos from the last 4 years. He is really talented.
Hey matt, didn't know if you would come across my message on Instagram but I was just looking through photo books online and I've come across one called 'An ordinary day by Karen Haberberg' it's a book on the photography of 27 families living with children with rare genetic conditions. Just wanted to share it with you encase you are not aware of it.

Can't wait for my order to arrive. I love in Florida and have no connection to Ohio but the theme is awesome!
Is it too late for saying my kudos? The photos were SPECTACULAR!

The zine looks very nice, congratulations! I like when somebody makes a project about a local place, well done.
Great work, brother. Love to see it.
I'm still waiting for your "Cats of Chillicothe" 'zine... You have SO MANY great photos already! Curate them and put them into a project.

Thanks dude, appreciate it!
Love seeing about your books. I have amassed a pretty big collection as well but looks like I am adding some to the mix!
I use to work for a paper merchant and I attended the Mead Knowledge School in Chillicothe, OH back in the 1990s.
Love Sugimoto! So glad to see him featured here. Great video as always, Matt!
I ordered Nathan's book a few days ago when you shared it on your IG story, really excited to get my hands on it!

I have been following young photographers lately. Their works are astounding.
Saw an exhibit of BlackWater River!! It’s breathtaking work !
Check out Sugimoto's "Seascapes", it is beautiful evidence of a man's obsession with horizon.
Great video Matt, Thanks!
Have a nice weekend!
I spy Blaze Orange on your shelf still! I wasn't able to find your video of it :(

Great selection Matt. Not lying, was eagerly waiting for the Winona Ryder book.
I just pre ordered Clyde Butchers new Everglades book. Hoping in it ships in a couple weeks. Very excited to have my morning coffee and take a cruise through the swamp with Clyde.
The zine looks very nice. I'm quite curious about the review of The book of every thing, guess I need to be patient until next week :-)
Nice looking bookshelf
Loved the video! The books from Josh and Shane were my favorites!!
I recently bought 10 miles west too. It’s a really nice zine.
Excellent review bringing huge variety to our attention, I really like the approach to architecture.
Ooh! Some nice looking books!

I really wanna see a photo of all your books, so i can google and find them :D
Is there a place/website specifically to buy zines?
A little photo book recommendation is Austin Augies Journal (he recently did a video with willem verbeeck). He‘s a photographer/bmx rider, and the book is a collection of photos from the last 4 years. He is really talented.

Sugomoto's books are very nice but a little pricey 🙁
Привет из России! Хороший у тебя канал. Я подписался. Буду смотреть регулярно, не смотря на то, что Английский язык не понимаю.
These days zines are actually really books, right? It's not like back in the day. They are so professional.
