Indeed the best band in the nation THE HUMAN JUKEBOX!!
That Joy and Pain feels like an L Drill Song.
The best drill band in the nation BLOW JUKEBOX!
Good Show.
Man.....that tribute to DOC was teary for me. That fanfare was incredible. So glad to have been raised and been apart of this since birth. AEA....
You all who marched under the direction of Dr. Greggs are so lucky to have had him as a mentor. I only wish I would've had the opportunity to meet him during my high school marching band days. We watched a lot of HBCU marching bands when I was in high school, specifically the Human Jukebox. I've loved that band ever since. Best band in the land hands down.
History was made..
Mr.Haymer gone end up being the next DOC of SU BAND in a couple more years.
Whew.....that is quite a compliment! he has a lot of ground to cover to get to that point. He is doing a GREAT job. Just know that there was much more to "Doc" than just what he did with us in the "Jukebox". He was an ambassador, teacher, father-figure, mentor and a man who gave to SU, and the world. Dr. Greggs was my mothers band director back in their hometown of Shreveport, La. He is a legend. "Often imitated. Never duplicated"!
That's why I said a couple of years
scoobondrums 5427 And My Director as well!
L-Drill with 128: EPIC
L-Drill with 192: LEGENDARY
I almost just jumped out of my chair in the first 15 seconds of this clip. The L drill is my absolute favorite...SOOOO glad they brought it back!
Would you say SU L Drill is the Triangle the Bulls and Lakers used.
I've always wanted to be in Southern Band.
Great show Juke! #Boomfanatic
We asked for it, and they delivered. Combining past traditions with new innovations. Haymer and Co., y'all done did it again.
Wow Tubas and Low Brass got behind the beat on the Last song. But the Field show was awesome. Great footage and got to love the Tributes.
Nice!!!
Loving that tribute to Dr. Greggs. The Superstar fanfare was great. Admittedly, I was hoping they'd play the whole thing haha. Fantastic show for homecoming.
These youngsters ain't playing.Absolutely love the show.Proud Jukebox Alum.Fall88,KKPsi Spr.91
What up Bruh! Zeta Nu Spr 03
SU Human Jukebox: DAAAMMMNNNNNN!
If the L-Drill wasn't crazy enough, that tribute to Dr. Isaac Greggs, the tribute to your own band with y'all forming the Human Jukebox Insignia( the block "S" with the 8th note going through ), the concert selection of We Are One by FBM( a fitting selection for your 100th On The Bluff ), and the dance routine featuring Mannie Fresh, all I have to say is:
BEST. SU HOMECOMING HALFTIME SHOW. EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This took some work! The tribute to Dr. Greggs was timeless & the "turn around & bow" part in the drill was only right since SU's hometown is one of the most consistent when it comes to traveling with the school & band to visiting games. Truly felt like a homecoming & may God continue to bless this program. #M100
That was great. I wish Dr. Greggs was still here, he is truly an icon. I don't know if Southern University has a Hall of Fame, if they do Dr. Greggs deserves to be in that hall. Love you Dr. Greggs and you're greatly missed. From a Human Jukebox fan in Oklahoma.
From a FAMUAN, Great Show!!! I am proud of what The JukeBox is doing. Hope to see you all on the schedule REAL SOON!!!
talladega betta watch out!
If there was ever a time to play picc...stomp'n out of the point of that L-drill would've been THE prime time to play picc...lol. I would've marched a 6 inch moat down the line. Juke was step'n!
That's my CS!!! C phi XI
BEST BAND IN THE LAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! I'm nearly loss for words! The L drill! OMG! Everything!
I agree with all the comments. i was there. This goes in the history books!!!
That Joy & Pain sounds like an old school Knighten Drill Tune with Tubas and Trombones driving the band down the field.
Great show.
Epicness starts at 6:17! great footage as always
100% Agree
Very nice quality, good show
I haven't seen the L drill since 2000
I miss the U, man...smh
Dearly.
I had to come back to this vid to drop an ATOMIC BOMB:
Nathan B. Haymer, Interim Director of Bands and a Professor in the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Southern University, has just been promoted to PERMANENT Director of Bands in a special meeting held by the SU Board of Supervisors earlier this morning.
In Other Words:
THE HAYMERTIME ERA IS OFFICIALLY NOW!!!!!!!!
#HAYMERTYME!!!!
The letters and the iconic S with the music note.... SUperior.
Great job!
Man !!!!!! ......Great from beginning to end, I think about the amount of practice and effort that went into making it such a great performance. Once again Thank You Mr Edgerson for the great footage. You be on it....
Nice fieldshow!!
The tribute to Dr. Greggs was so moving. Mr. Haymer your direction of the band while playing that was beautiful. I'd love to know the name of the song performed for the tribute.
I liked that L drill. The S with the note was a nice touch. # ocean alumn.
man this was off the chain the l drill was tight
THAT L DRILL. OH MAH GAAAAAAAH!!!! YALL KILLED IT!!!
Mindblown!!! Yall ready for Honda Already
For some reason those snare heads sound good af. Makes the Yamahas sound like the old Remo legatos
If you were at this game and you love the dolls as much as i do, I’m so disappointed that this field show didn’t go viral. I know Legendary DTara Frank was the inspiration behind this and we can “Movie” just the making of the field show. I mean what’s up?
THEY SO DEEP.....SSSSSSSSUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I always imagined the L-drill with 6 company fronts. And, dammit if they ain't pull it off. That and that MannyFresh for HC was nice.
Way to geaux, Juke!
I think these bands should be in the 2015 honda botb :
Southern
Jackson st
Bethune Cookman
Talladega
Miles
Alcorn st
S Carolina st
North Carolina A&T
Talladega....really! No class and to be honest, I have yet to see this band do a real mid-field drill. Don't fool yourself into thinking that Miles and Tallegega are ready to step up into the "Big Time" they both have work to do!
Ok....when will Southern finally get rid of that wack ass announcer?!?!?...bring back the original old announcer!!!!!
Nice but that putting the horn on the ground stuff na...
Good Band, but no distinction in their music. I love their routines. This announcer needs to shut up and let the band play. They did not need his hype. Stop trying to play so loud. You lose your sound quality. Everyone player hates on BCU but they don't over play and have a great sound.
BOUT TIME THEY BRING THE "L" DRILL BACK!!!!!! They did a pretty good job...Still got to get that sound up to par for 192,too many woodwinds on the field..Getting better as the year goes on..Should be at full force for J-state game, but the drum major still sucks..Gotta be the worst drum major in the history of the jukebox.. Got to be honest about it...Like it or not,HE SUCKS!!!!
SU percussionist sound jumbled on the dancing dolls song. Never was a big fan of there percussion section but they music was decent.....
