Wonderful video, ladies. I love history: ancient, medieval, renaissance, and on and on. So, I must say that this video about the current exhibition of the Roman experience in Britain is absolutely the 'tops'. It's amazing that Britain has such strong ties, historically, to the ancient Roman empire, as our entire 'western culture' is founded upon ancient Greece and Rome. I wish I could fly from the US to 'Merry' 'ol London, right now, and see this before it ends (in June). But at least I had the good fortune to catch your beautiful video and thoroughly enjoyed it. May we always continue to learn the lessons of history both the pain and the glory so that we evolve into an ever greater understanding of the 'human spirit'. Again, thanks so much. (Atlanta, USA)
We hope you all like this history travel vlog! Something a little bit different for the channel but still jammed packed with history! Let us know what you think! Lucie & Ellie xx
Amazing tour! I so appreciate being invited along to see the treasures of this exhibition (since I won't get there myself), and the interior of that incredible restaurant. Great job!!😀👍
Wow Lucie & Ellie. What a packed day and great choice for a meal - it looked worth it I have to say. Great video of all things Roman too, thoroughly enjoyed it. Until next time, take care and keep the enthusiasm going - you are naturals. ❤
I think we did about 16,500 steps that day! 😂 More than we do digging hahah we managed to fit in a lot and the late lunch was well worth it! The staff were lovely and the food was delicious 😋🤎 Thank you!! 🙏
Allie your voice is so lovely as a narration voiceover. Its soothing, rich, and lilting like ive heard on professionally produced documentaries. I could listen all day. A joy. Natural talent! ❤
I love you guys!! You are amazing archeology enthusiasts just like me. Roman Britain is my special interest. I have had to opportunity to visit many British Roman sights as well as dozens over Europe and North Africa. My husband and children resignedly (on their part) joined me on delighted (on my part) wandering over Roman sights and imagining how the people who built it lived. Cheers
So brilliant so share our passions with like minded people! Slowly making our way across the sites of Britain!! Hope we get the tick as many off the bucket list as possible! 😂 Yet to take Roman Found to Europe but has to be done at some point!! Thanks for joining us on our adventures! 🤓🤎✨
Wow imagine finding any of that whilst out detecting! Thanks for taking us with you 🙂 You both deserve a treat and what a treat it was! The décor and the food looked amazing!!!
Hi, just to say what a really good exhibition and I was surprised with the amount of finds found in Suffolk, all in good condition, does not matter if you scratches, chips etc for something to survive that long in the ground, brilliant. The restaurant looked a treat and such a fitting place to finish your day, look forward to next video
Hi Kim! We saw some really incredible finds it always blows our minds the condition of some of the artefacts that have survived 🤯 glad you’re looking forward to the next video we are actually out filming something special right now 🤓
I enjoyed this one very much! I need to visit that Roman exhibit,I get the impression that it is permanent. I hope so! The Bacchanalia restaurant, ohhh my goodness, that looks heavenly both food-wise,and decor-wise. I’m glad you both had such a wonderful time in a wonderful City,Londinium. Always Londinium.
Hello Charles! 🤓 the exhibition ends in June! It’s a special one on now! As always a trip to Londinium does never disappoint! Glad you enjoyed coming along with us 🤎
Ahhh! I am notorious for missing out on the choicest exhibitions, never fails😫 Oh!! Also,I recieved my Roman Founds t shirt, and the beautiful cross pendant,as well as the stickers, just the other day! I’m super pleased with them. The little cross,I will hang it on the rear view mirror in my car, alongside a voodoo doll and a Mami wata, she oversees the TIDES.
How amazing! Do you think next years fashion and decor trends will be influenced by the show? the colors and design were beautiful and I would love to see arm purses walking down a runway. Thank you for taking us to such an amazing restaurant.
Definitely!! I think we’re already starting to see influences, also the Roman Empire became a trend on social media last year, so it’s very much in the public consciousness at the moment! I’d expect to see that filtering through to interior and fashion trends.
Really Grand stuff!!!! That Shield is amazing!!! Can't wait to see y'all back out Metal Larking for Roman, Roman, and more Roman!!!!! Cheers from Missississppi
I want to watch this vid so bad but I'm booked in to see the exhibition myself in London 😂so i might save it for afterwards! Hope you had an awesome time there. I've got a few Roman military finds I'm hoping to shed some light on. Its so cool to see the context of the finds we're making in the field isn't it!
Excellent report, I especially liked the importance given to the Roman games. I am the author of two videos on UA-cam, in Spanish, where I maintain the hypothesis that the Roman Dodecahedron was a game with coins, in military camps. I hope to see the dodeca one day in similar exhibitions. My videos are titled: "Dodecaedro Romano: Se Acabó el Misterio" and "Part II". In Settings you can put English subtitles. Congratulations to Román Found for the presentation of this video (Translated by Google Translator)
Thanks Bobby!! Getting there with the audio now 🤓 it really made it such a joy to record this time. Could you imagine the feasts they had off those platters!!! The a la carte menu at the restaurant gave us a pretty good idea of a Roman banquet 😂 Bit of a stretch for our Roman Found purses though 🤣
@@RomanFound Hey that's lovely! (to hear you're having a 'funner' experience recording!) I guess that's one of the goals, hey wot?🙏🏻 But yeah, that restaurant looks amazing! An' your glowing review made me wonder if you could mebbe get a freebie there next time?... 😉 Anyways, well done agen with the production - that V/O sounding pukka!! Take care for now an' thanks for keeping the content flowing... B x
Enjoyed your tour through the British Museum. The restaurant looks amazing, did you order the table in advance? I'm coming to London in April and will visit British Museum exhibition and maybe have a lunch in Bacchanalia! Thanks for showing. Happy Hunting!
Thank you! We booked a table in advance online through their website! We booked for 3pm which gave us a good few hours at the museum! But we could have stayed longer 😂🤎
Some of the wait staff did actually have Roman garb on!! We still need to get a bit more comfortable filming in intimate spaces but we did our best to capture as much as possible in the restaurant!! 😂 I don’t know how some of the travel UA-camrs film with such confidence! 😂
Thanks for bringing us along on your fascinating day. What did you end up buying in the museum shop? Those Roman encaustic mummy case portraits are among my favorite body of works in all of art history. I have a question and a comment. What was the object that looked like it was made of a crocodile skin?
No worries Lisa!! Thanks for watching!! We ending up getting the exhibition book and a selection of postcards 😂 We told ourselves we didn’t need the teddy bear! 😭🥲 So beautiful right! The crocodile skin was an armoured suit! Very outrageous!! Never seen anything like it before!
Glad you enjoyed it! We certainly spent a good few hours there, certainly longer than an hour to properly appreciate all that is on show as there is so much to take in 🙌 maybe around 2/3 hours?
It was breathtaking! We certainly believe there is a place for both private and museum collections to co-exist, this is good example of such a collaboration.
