Stravinsky was an amazing genius. So many people have little or no talent and he had it all. Music this great never fails to please no matter how many times you hear it.
An absolutely beautiful and fantastic performance of The Firebird! The tapered cutoffs and amazing time, strong winds, powerful percussion, and sensational strings and just how amazing the finale of Firebird was played. Amazing job to all the performers and maestro, cannot wait to see even more come from the US Marine Band.
I experienced Stravinsky's orchestral suite performed by the LA Phil in Spring 2022 under Dudamel's baton. 1st Lieutenant Darren Y. Lin has a great career ahead of him. It's difficult to explain how technically proficient this is.
Wow...the precise playing, the tone quality and intonation. There are a couple of very advanced high schools that have played this....while they play well for a high schools. This is on a whole other level. I assume this is the Melin Patterson transcription?
Nicely done-Bravo Tutti! However, it may have been good to keep the ending in the original key of B Major rather than transposed down 1/2 step to Bb Major. Though, having been an Army Band Director, myself, I found it not uncommon for concert band transcriptions of the classical orchestral repertoire to be often transposed to keys more "comfortable" for wind instruments!
I wonder who makes decisions about when posts will be made for this account? I have a Ukrainian musician friend who is a fan of the Marine Band and follows them closely. He was very hurt that this Russian piece-performed before the Russian invasion-was posted on the very day news of mass murder and torture in Izyum were reported. Why now? :(
Thank you for mentioning this. Absolutely meant no harm. This is my fault - we've had this video scheduled for quite some time and I did not hear about Izyum until after the release. I am so very sorry for the pain it caused your friend. My profound apologies - Gunnery Sgt. Rachel Ghadiali, U.S. Marine Band Office of Communication
Have you heard that all of America is helping Ukraine now? Have you heard that from the very beginning of the war, set of parts of Ukrainian marches have been in the library of your orchestra? Anyone who is in the kingdom of Tsar Koshchei can not hear anything!
@@usmarineband Thank you, Gunnery Sgt. Ghadiali. We appreciate the reassurance that this was a mistake. In fact, my friend Mr. Konstantine Grechanivsky and I have been campaigning for some time to ask that the U.S. Marine Band perform Ukrainian marches in support of Ukraine. He believes that such a performance would be an enormous boon to the spirits of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians alike. He has even provided parts and scores for dozens of marches to the Marine Band's library. We've communicated with several high-level officers in the ensemble for months, practically since the war began, but have been met with no performance and no explanation. It is enormously disappointing to see no support for Ukraine from the U.S. Marine Band (The President's Own!), and on top of it, continue to see performances of Russian music... Please understand that the people of Ukraine can see and hear what U.S. ensembles are playing, and it matters to them. Respectfully, Megan Hill
Today the capital, Kyiv, and several other cities were bombed in further acts of pure terrorism by Russia. Will we hear music of support for Ukraine from the U.S. Marines?

Concerts without going out. Thank you! Puts mind at rest so I can think positively.
This is probably the only concert band in the world that can do this piece the justice it deserves. Bravo!
I guess you don’t know many concert bands then 😉
@@Claudiogebhardt Please name one that has a recording here that is better than this one?..I'll Wait

Magnificent and sublime ….!!!
Best band in the world!

Thanks for letting us know!

Wow!
Starts too loud.
Considering it’s the Marine Band that’s a pretty sloppy performance from them. Especially with the entrances at the end.
