I have been using better help for about 2 months because of you. I found a great therapist and it has had a huge impact on my life. My anxiety had gotten crippling and it’s so much better now. Thanks Auri!
I agree it may be useful, but I personally prefer to have a bathtub. Floor drain reminds me of public showers, it wouldn't be comfortable for me in everyday use. I showed it to my partner and asked if he likes it, he said "no. it's like shower in prison"🤣 sorry, to each their own🙃
I think more and more furniture companies should reach out to you and provide for furniture to help these people, especially elderly people. We should also be pressuring our governments more and demand better social care for the weakest of our society! It’s unthinkable that an 80 year old person, who has worked her whole life has to live in such conditions 😢
That's actually a great idea. Would be great promotion for them! Auri you should have your manager reach out to some furniture companies! They send mattresses to UA-cam creators all the time in exchange for promo/ review. Could do that with you! Right now Helix has been sending out a lot of mattresses for creator review. Purple and Nectar are two others that have commonly done the same. Also, there are companies like Brooke Linen that send sheet / bedding sets for review.
@@kaylariggs5188 Indeed!! I hope these companies are aware of how much influence social media ACTUALLY has and how their numbers will grow! The #1 caregiver should always be the government, though. I work and pay taxes so I DEMAND to have my money’s worth of care for everyone, no matter where they are in life. If you work and you pay taxes, you should have access to the services you’re paying/paid for, it’s that easy! That’s what tax money is for and yet, our “representatives” looove to waste money on sh*t that IS NOT necessary and putting it in their pockets.
It's so sad that no one was helping this person. My mom is 86 and me and my siblings help her all the time. We help clean her house for her. It's sad no family was there to help.
Ideally, yes, family could help. Sometimes family cannot help. Maybe the family has tried to help . Sometimes elderly wont let someone help, or they are difficult to deal with, so it can be healthier for the family to stay away. Each family ia different. We just dont know whats really going on so we must not judge.
You cant believe how much these videos have helped me. I've been severely depressed for months after some less than great things happened to me. Because my body felt dirty, I didn't care if my house was dirty. I would only wash my clothing for work and occasionally some dishes to eat with, and that was it. Over the last week, I've gotten my house clean. The last three days I've had the flu, which just made it harder. Now the only things I have left are to fold the laundry once it's dry and to wash the floors. Once the weather becomes rainy, I'll start on the yard too.
I'm dealing with a heavy depression too so I can relate. Every little task you complete is a win! You will see that cleaning and taking care of your hygiene is a form of therapy too. Little by little ♡
I don't understand how their mom could have been without a shower for 3 years! Did they not check on her? This is abuse of the elderly. Regardless of where they Iive or what's going on in their lives. I feel so sorry for this woman. Thank you for stepping in and helping her.
you did NOT have to assume that. the kids might have been busy, the mom might have been too ashamed from judgement (and the kids didnt know), or just about endless amounts of reasons. its also NOT abuse, do your research.
I live with my grandmother who recently fell down and now thankfully she's healing but that's besides the point. My grandmother had fell in the kitchen when I stepped outside just to collect a package. I heard something fall but she didn't make a sound or call me from outside, just because she didn't want to worry me unfortunately she broke a bone so she had to go the hospital. After coming home my grandmother whenever she needed something would always apologize to me saying she's causing me trouble. Then I would have to tell her over and over again that she's not a burden and that it's my duty. Due to family reasons I live with my grandmother, but I wonder if my situation was different I wouldn't be living her and therefore I wonder what the house would've been like if I wasn't there. I guess what I'm trying to say is not all situations are abuse. Depending on the elderly person they tend to be independent and want to do things themselves afraid to be a burden therefore she probably didn't tell them and unfortunately they had to find out about the house when her daughter came to cut her hair. Please do not assume things without knowing the full story.
I have an aunt who has been slowly going down the dementia road. For those who wonder why the daughter didn't realize what was going on, let me tell you about my aunt... I live about 30 minutes from her, but her 3 sons live quite a distance further (two live, literally, across the country); because of that, I am the one who visits her the most, who has been helping her with her everyday life, etc. While the two who live in other states are good about calling her every week or two, they didn't realize how bad she had become, because often she can speak on the phone very well. When they came into town (to visit her for her 95th birthday) they had a big shock, trying to understand how she had deteriorated "so quickly"! One even accused me of buying her a computer that was too complex for her to use -- instead of understanding that when we bought the computer 3 years ago, she could use it perfectly well. Now she doesn't even remember how to turn it on! This happens a lot with dementia patients -- on the phone they can sound fairly normal, despite the fact that their everyday existence has deteriorated dramatically! I don't blame the family for not understanding how dire the situation was with their mother... BUT I hope they understand that she cannot live independently anymore, and that they should step in to move her to a place where she can be cared for and live safely.
I totally agree. Thank you for having helped your aunt. Hopefully she will be placed in a nurturing environment. All will be well with the correct steps taken. Take care and God bless
People with dementia present very well on the phone and even during short face to face conversations. Dementia is becoming a much bigger problem due to us living longer and longer and is causing nightmares in hospitals where disruptive behaviour is impacting on the recovering of other patients. As a society we need to understand more about dementia especially after reading some of these comments.
Dementia was my first thought when I saw the bathroom, used diapers, cobwebs. Auri, thank you for helping Dorothy and her loved ones. Dementia is the worst and nobody should deal with it alone.
i saw a bag full of shitty diapers once in a bag on the street i was walking once. i looked in it and smelled the most horrible smell!!! :( i almost puked lol
Hi Aurikatarina, I am worried about your health. When you enter this kind of homes please wear mask all the time. Please take care of your health. May God bless you.💕
I understand you. I don’t think I can do what she’s doing. But she is doing it with great passion. So I suggested the mask. I still worried about her health. I hope she will be in good health and God bless her.
I dont know why, but taking a shower always leaves me with a feeling of gratitude. No matter my problems, i always have at least this blessing in my life and i love it😊
For me, it's when I crawl into bed at night. I always feel really grateful when I'm snuggling into my pillow that I have a warm, safe bed and I feel for the people who do not.
Guys, I just spent 3 days cleaning my father in laws house which was insane. I couldn't believe he lived in such conditions, everything fell apart for him when his wife, my Mil, divorced him 10 years ago. Spider webs galore, grime, maggots, you name it. I got it spotless! He will see it in the next few hours when he is back from his trip.
Guys, he loved it. He messaged my husband last night and simply said "Wow, you don't know how much I needed this" 😢😢Made me pretty emotional. My husband watched the kids for the whole 3 days I did it. And my furbabies so he helped tremendously. If he helped with the cleaning part, maybe we would be getting divorced now. 😂😂😂😂
@@SuperEarther I didn't get rid of the spiders yet, just their webs as I didn't have time. We thought he was back today from his trip but he came back yesterday so I was pushed for time. I catch them on their web and bring them and shake them out the window. Haven't the heart to hoover them 😂
I'm so happy that you're starting to be able to afford new mattresses for your clients lately. Seriously, there should be bedding companies who sponsor you by providing mattresses and bedsheets! 😤
That reminds me of the old lady I used to take care of. She couldn't do much by herself and I was hired as a domestic help. I was shocked at how neglected she lived there: It hadn't been cleaned there for at least 2 years, moldy underwear with diarrhea, rotting meat in a broken freezer...even though her son and family doctor visited her regularly. I've spent weeks getting this big house back in good shape and she had felt so uncomfortable and also embarrassed and so grateful when it was nice and clean again. I don't want to know how many old people there are who can no longer take care of themselves and live like this.
@@genwhite1175 thank you. It was such a sweet old lady and was really shocked, that son and doctor didn't do something about her conditions, like how could one not see this...
More likely hold billions of germs from the hundred thousand stinking wretch of bloodied sanitary towels piled up to the ceiling like a twin towers effigy. Beyond gross.
I feel like every elderly person who lives alone HAS to be checked on by SOMEONE at least a week. Situations like this can cause them high risks of diseases or injuries. Poor lady in this case, may God bless her and protect her as well with you Aurikatariina thank you!!
I'm usually careful to judge people but I just can't comprehend how no one cared for the lady especially since she has dementia No one should have to face this condition on their own This apartment really was a cage of isolation and being overwhelmed. You are an angel for what you do Auri!! I truly hope granny got help after all ❤
This happens in the U.S. a lot, but it is hidden, and the people that experience this do not have a voice to communicate the suffering and often do not have presents of mind to be their own advocate. I was a crime scene tech and saw this way too often. The average person does not realize how often it happens. Remember you inherit this awful system of healthcare. If nothing is done to rectify this problem, you will be this woman too. What is in place to stop it?
You never know what people are going through. My mother was abusive and even after my older sister came to stay and take care of her she was still verbally abusive and would just go off at the drop of a hat. If you met her you wouldn't know at first because she would probably be super pleasant to you. She refused to go to a doctor after awhile and my sister was afraid she would lose her nursing license and she left. So now I'm staying with her and after a couple years and many trips to the ER for her seizures she finally agreed to go to a doctor and thankfully we got one that was very understanding and not pushy for extra test. I think she was also dealing with recurrent UTIs which can really affect their cognitive abilities and now I have her taking a high dose of d-mannose and drinking plenty of water. Many people are barely making it with the wages and prices of things today and if I had to work on top of bring here for my mom and having my own mental health issues... well I probably wouldn't be able to deal with it and I definately wouldn't be able to afford my medications and insulin while earning minimum wage (7.25 in Texas.)
Care of the elderly is HARD. Many parents are asshats, and get wors0e as they get older. It's expensive and gross a lot of the time. There are no RIGHT answers. As a person you do the best you can and go to your community for help . in the US if you live in a city that has NOT defunded THE POLICE , they all have social.workers on staff JUST for this kind of help and resources for folks in their town.
Unfortunately, the elderly have suffered a lot from the lack of public policies and social assistance. In the country where I live, fewer and fewer young people want to work in elderly care because it is a stressful job. Congratulations on your big heart Auri.
The problem isn't public policy it's embaracing as a society our parents cared for us for years and she left her mother with dementia in a house on her own for 3 years with her unable to shower. It makes me so angry we are shameless as a society.
@@Jako1987 Hardly people are chosing to do that now burdening parents for their convinence. We expect so much from parents now with cost of living you have adult children free loading and living with their parents up till late 30's. This is just pure selfishness we ask for the world for our parents and basic care needs aren't considered or met when they need the bare minimum and she was left living like a homeless person in her old age.
In the US. we think it is OK to just let someone live like this. I called the Department of Children and Families and was told by the case worker that, "some people like to live like this," and there is nothing you as a daughter can do about this mess. My mom had suffered dementia and a lifetime of mental health torment, and I could not get any help or even verbal advise. They just let the elderly rot. The medical system in the U.S. is awful unless you have very deep deep pockets.
@@donnamaco1 She didn't need deep pockets clearly her mom is living alone and paying rent that money can be used for her mom to live with her. This isn't supported living. Do you know what happens when you are soiling yourself and you haven't showered in three years you get fungal rashes and bed sores ... there is no way that in that house her mother isn't covered in this and you haven't seen you mum that has had dementia for 5 years in a minimum of three years ? As she is certain her mum hasn't showered. It's not the states responsibility to take care of you parents if you think that you're silly. I hope you teach your children that because then they will leave you for the state in future. The way life is now we aren't even likely to get pensions and wont even get to retire. Keep beleving it's the responsibility of the state teach your own kids that better still keep habing fur babies see what will happen in your own old age.
What I love and appreciate is that you don’t show the faces of the people- I am sure that you would make even more Klicks if you show the people. I've never seen anyone in my life so happy about cleaning. I wish you lived near me lol! It's so nice of you and your friend to help this family. I hope they were very grateful!
Just putting this out there: in situations like this story it’s not as simple and easy as “getting family to help” once people of a certain age are living in their house in this state it’s too much to manage even with assistance. Especially people with dementia/Alzheimer’s or a disability, anyone who tries to help or change their routine in any way is met with resistance. People with dementia can become very agitated and older people in general like to stay in their home they’ve stayed for years. Since she has children and grand children I’m sure they’ve tried helping many times but it’s very easy to underestimate how big and uncontrolled the issue is. Thank goodness for Auri and her skills so she could help this family
I don't care HOW agitated my mother would have been, there is NO WAY any human being should have been left on their own In that filth and not having showered FOR 3 YEARS! The daughter felt she had to put on rubber gloves just to touch her own mother? - well if she had looked out for her sooner and on a regular basis- arranging a nursing home sooner she wouldn't have been so repelled by her bodily condition. She's lucky - 16:30 her mother had to LIVE in that body for 3 years. I'm SO angry with her whole family for neglecting that poor soul. Good job she didn't treat THEM that way when they were growing up isnt it???!!! She was a good mum to them, and this is how they repay her in her time of need!
Auri says that the daughter left it for three years before she visited her elderly mother, who was living with dementia. Three years! And when she did visit, she just called on a stranger to clean up the mess. That's pretty shameful by most people's standards.
@@talex1625you have no idea that relationship between this mother and daughter the mother could have been an extremely abusive person and the daughter kept her distance for her own mental health but still came in and did what she could to help you don't know and maybe you ought to think about that before you judge
This video was so sad. I can’t imagine my mother living in such conditions. Has she had any visitors in years or been left on her own? I assume the daughter doesn't live nearby. My mother with dementia washes her body but just pulls her hair back in a ponytail. it seems to be a muscle memory to do that but she doesn't wash her hair anymore. She will let me wash it but never seems to notice if it needs washing,I always initiate it. But she does brush it before pulling it back.

I loved watching this even though it made me cry a little. I have always loved to clean and started cleaning homes for extra $ about 8yrs ago. It was only supposed to be a temporary gig but my clients wouldn't let me quit 🙂 So now at 63yrs old I am still cleaning houses and I must confess it keeps me in shape because it is hard work! It is very satisfying, though! Much love to you, great job!❤
This is so sad watching this one, especially knowing from the short you posted a month ago. That the old lady died the next day and didn’t get to see or enjoy her clean home 😢 I feel for her and her family, it’s heartbreaking ❤️💜 Thankyou for all you do Ari xx

So happy you have helped this woman so much. I am sad she has been so neglected by her family and that no one had visited her the last few years. Hope she gets some ongoing support.
Mamma mia!!!!😱 You really are a blessing Auri! I think this bathroom is one of the worst I’ve ever seen in your videos. Thinking of this old lady alone in that condition makes me feel sad. But as you said... always bring joy and light in those human situations. A big thank to you! 🙏🏻🙋🏼♀️🥰
Honestly, you are a Angel! Not many could do what you do without judging the person, where you see someone that just needs help. Much love sent to you.
Its very sad to see how this Granny was living, but I’m glad that her daughter reached out to you for help! You are wonderful ❤ I think for many elderly people an assisted living situation is much better than the isolation of living alone. I think there should be more investment in the kind of communities where older people with varying levels of ability can live in a small apartment and have help with cleaning, personal care and access to medical care. Also, social connection with others.
Auri, this may sound weird, but watching you touch so many dirty things makes me overcome my germophobia little by little 😅 Also I just love watching your videos, you’re amazing ❤
I wouldn't say I was ever a germaphobe but after cleaning for a while, I'm horrified to admit to myself the kinds of things I'd be okay touching with my bare hands. 😅
I'm the opposite, I just keep screaming (in my head) "OMG WHERE'S YOUR HAZMAT SUIT AND RESPIRATOR AND GOGGLES!!!!????" Surely this is NOT healthy to do wearing a tshirt and jeans. Jesus.
You’re incredible What an amazing job I can’t imagine the smell of the bathroom Poor lady how can you get in such a state Then it would feel overwhelming
Respect for helping elderly people that can't help themselves for whatever reason.. they borned us they raised us to become men or women but now that the years have passed its our turn to take care of them... keep up miss..
So sad. Thank you Auri for helping this woman. I wish there were services available that the elderly could trust and afford to get the help they need sometimes. ❤❤❤
Now the apartment has been cleaned it won't take much to make it a nice happy house. Some bright cheerful coloured paint, new flooring and some lovely pictures and it will be a comfortable home. I do hope the cleaning changes bring happiness to the lady and don't trigger her stress too much :)
I don’t know how I happened on this video because usually hoarding type videos cause me anxiety but I must say that while the work you have done to this poor lady’s home is wonderful, it was your absolute beautiful state of mind that really amazed me! Your heart and sense of caring about others is so uplifting! You stayed so positive and hopeful in such an obvious negative atmosphere where one can easily dwell on the bad. You actually appeared grateful to be able to contribute to her situation! That my dear was refreshing! Most people would feel pride of course but you seemed to inhale so much more and hopefully your beautiful and kind disposition and self worth will be exhaled and then inhaled by rest of us. I found it delightfully intoxicating!! You truly are an angel! Your video warmed my heart and made me feel hopeful again. Thank you so much for that. Take care of yourself and please get yourself a biohazard suit as one of your other reader/fans suggested! I wish you well! Stacie L
My block was without hot water since june. We had it for 5 days and then they shut it off again because of construction work. Today we received hot water and I finally took as shower normally and I was so so grateful!
I don't think there is one person on this earth that comes even close to you. Your dedication, your kindness, your ability to clean the most disgusting homes without any judgement, your giving heart and compassion is second to none. I adore your beautiful spirit.
What an angel you are!! 💖👑💖 I love how you quickly sort the trash from the objects to keep - both meticulously and respectfully careful. Having cleaned for hoarders, I know how important this is. The fear of losing treasured belongings is what stops many from seeking the help they desperately need.
Once again an absolutely wonderful job, you've got a heart of gold. I really think you shouldn't feel sad when cleaning. After all, you're helping bring things in order and give these people a chance to get back on their feet. If anything it's something to be happy and optimistiv about. I hope the elderly lady will get the help she needs in the future, too.
Wow that lampshade looks amazing! Poor lady having dementia, it's a horrible disease! It's easy to say (as some comments said) that the daughter should have helped her but none of us know the circumstances! Perhaps the daughter lives miles away or suggests from an illness or times when she has illness! My mum died in 2021 and I should visit my dad more but he keeps saying he's fine and don't come to see him etc! Although he's happy when I do see him! Work, depression and fatigue get in the way so often, for me, so I do find it difficult to get the energy levels up! I clean when I visit, although he does a good job keeping his house clean and tidy!

you did NOT have to assume that. the kids might have been busy, the mom might have been too ashamed from judgement (and the kids didnt know), or just about endless amounts of reasons. its also NOT abuse, do your research.
The daughter said she ‘couldn’t bear to touch’ her own mother. Disgusting.
100,000 thumbs up!👍
thank you, that was exactly my question
I totally agree. Thank you for having helped your aunt. Hopefully she will be placed in a nurturing environment. All will be well with the correct steps taken. Take care and God bless
People with dementia present very well on the phone and even during short face to face conversations. Dementia is becoming a much bigger problem due to us living longer and longer and is causing nightmares in hospitals where disruptive behaviour is impacting on the recovering of other patients.
As a society we need to understand more about dementia especially after reading some of these comments.
She’s unlucky to have children like that
Dementia was my first thought when I saw the bathroom, used diapers, cobwebs. Auri, thank you for helping Dorothy and her loved ones. Dementia is the worst and nobody should deal with it alone.
i saw a bag full of shitty diapers once in a bag on the street i was walking once. i looked in it and smelled the most horrible smell!!! :(

Dementia is awful, that said the place has been like that many years, evident from its state. So glad she’s now got some help.
How can nobody have known about her issues? My moms 81 and she in better health than me. I need to get healthier as I don’t want to end up like this
I have cobwebs everywhere, and that doesnt meant anything. I dont like to kill anything, so I move around them.
Hi Aurikatarina, I am worried about your health. When you enter this kind of homes please wear mask all the time. Please take care of your health. May God bless you.💕
I would not go in there even with a mask
I understand you. I don’t think I can do what she’s doing. But she is doing it with great passion. So I suggested the mask. I still worried about her health. I hope she will be in good health and God bless her.
Needs more PPE than just a mask ! Why is she contaminating her own phone by using it while cleaning ?
I'd rather work 3 years in a hard-labour camp in Siberia, than cleaning that house!😄
Only a mask? I would wear a hazmat suit! These homes are so nasty.
You are a saint. I hope the work was shared 50% by your husband.
You’re such a kind soul, he’ll probably cry when he steps in his home, I know I would
Guys, he loved it. 😂😂😂😂
geez thats horrible! how did you get rid of the spiders? i keep getting bit when i sleep! 🤮
Great idea!
Bless you for doing that. Terrible that her son and doctor didn't do something about her living conditions earlier.
It is possible that they hired the domestic help...and that that is what the son and family doctor had done?@@genwhite1175

I'm usually careful to judge people but I just can't comprehend how no one cared for the lady especially since she has dementia
No one should have to face this condition on their own
This apartment really was a cage of isolation and being overwhelmed. You are an angel for what you do Auri!!
I truly hope granny got help after all ❤
I know stories where the elderly really pushed back help… and it’s difficult to get official intervention.
I absolutely agree!
@@FbinitieIndividualism or something. Back in the days 3+ generations lived together. That propably wasn't easy either.

@@talex1625 Too right it is, totally agree! Its unforgivable.
We shouldn't judge if we don't know the full story.

Its very sad to see how this Granny was living, but I’m glad that her daughter reached out to you for help! You are wonderful ❤ I think for many elderly people an assisted living situation is much better than the isolation of living alone.
