Greetings Dr. Cornwall. I am the student you refer to in your video whose hair you did at the conference. You Called me Ebony in the video but my name is Dr. Ed’onna Alexandria. I still have locks just not sister locks. I ended up combing mine since I was the third one to get mine done and lived on the east cost and not having the necessary support to keep the tradition going. But I never stopped wearing locks and you encouraged me to a vegan which I have been for over 25 years and am a raw. Wholistic chef. I also became an educator and co-founded Marcus Garvey University in Uganda and the Women’s Institute for Training and Development in Ethiopia. All along you was my shero and mentor in my head. I would love to catch up share my journey with you as I have never forgotten the sistar-friendship love you showed me. Thank you for staying true and continuing the black hair revolution!

I absolutely agree! They need to update their list of certified Sisterlocks locticians. Why is is so hard to reach their corporate office by phone or the complaint form? They have been notably absent and do not provide a lot of information for consumers. For instance, I want to know exactly what each certified consultant is trained to install Sisterlocks. There are so many variations out there and some locticians do installations different ways.

God bless you, Dr. Cornwell. I've had my sisterlocks for almost nine years and I can truly say that getting them was one of the best decisions I've ever made. If only I had a dollar for every positive compliment or comment I've gotten over the past few years. I never in a million years thought that I'd be having to decide if I should cut my hair because it hangs way down my back! My hair is healthy, beautiful, and it grows! I have to say that this wouldn't be so without my wonderful consultant, Whitney. She's the best! I wish you much success, Dr. Cornwell, and I can't wait to see what's in store in the future for sisterlocks.

I was one of the unlucky ones who got a bad apple of a consultant. Although she was on the registry, I live in a part of Canada's that doesn't have a large enough Black population to have had consultants to choose from. At the time, there was literally only her. I'm 1.5 years in and this entire process has been a nightmare. I've never bothered submitting a complaint because I know that nothing could/will be done, but I'm devastated. My confidence has been so low since my installation, which is the opposite of how I'm supposed to feel. Thankfully, I found a trainee (whose clients were all previous unhappy clients of the lady who did my hair) to do my retightenings, who's really good. I'm often tempted to have her fix my locs, but 80% of my hair is wrecked so there'd be no point in fixing them. I'd have to get them taken down and reinstalled, or cut them. I already paid $1500 (hair was really long) and it took over 40 hours, over 4 days. The last thing I want is to go through that again.

The company may do well to police the use of the "Sisterlock" name used in many UA-cam videos. The majority of these videos are of other types of small locks that are being called "Sisterlocks" and confuse the public. The information associated with these videos are not in sync with Sisterlock guidelines.I know that copyrights can force these videos to be pulled . The misuse of the brand name can be controlled.

I learned from a video to always have a backup consultant. Your backup may become your main if the reliability issue doesn't resolve, but I do also think if you can afford to pay the $250 for the retightening class to take it.
I'm extremely new, I just had mine installed last month; I'll wait at least a year before retightening myself. However, I did a lot of research before getting mine done. Look up "things I wish I knew before getting sisterlocks" or "what to know before sisterlocks" for tips and experiences. I pray for your loctitian as well, because I know how personal problems can impact your work.

I had reported Sisterlocks to the BBB about a year or so ago. I had called and called AND CALLED requesting documentation to use as I was pursuing legal action against the Trainee who installed my Sisterlocks in 2017. Michelle, the person designated to handle complaints against consultants is HORRIBLE. Ma'am, I just needed a copy of your investigation report against the Trainee. As for Sisterlocks as a whole, this organization needs to do a lot of strategic planning around supporting customers who use the people who are "eligible" to install Sisterlocks. YOU DON'T SUPPORT THE CUSTOMER; YOU DON'T PROTECT THE CUSTOMER. You are a company that is supposed to be for women of color, but yet you leave many of us out in the cold when we come to you for help regarding the people you listed as qualified to implement this EXPENSIVE AND TIME-CONSUMING PROCESS.
