To see Brugge during the Christmas season must be a wonder even the camera cannot capture. I’ve been to Brugge twice and absolutely love this beautiful Belgium town. The dark chocolates, the Palm beer, waffles, and frites oh my - heaven does exist! Thank you, Julie, for taking us along your journey to a world treasure simply known as Brugge. Yes, you definitely need to make this a yearly pilgrimage. ❤
Thanks for taking us along. I miss European markets so much. It was one of my favorite experiences when I lived in Italy. Merry Christmas!
I can only imagine all the wonderful smells from the different foods, chocolate and other scrumptious Christmas treats wafting through the air when you & Emma were walking around the Christmas Markets. It’s what makes the Christmas season so special. 🎄❄️☃️🎅
Happy holidays!
Oh my goodness. In the window with the Christmas decorations was a German Christmas pyramid. My Grandma Baer had a homemade one of these made by my Grandpa Baer. My Grandma came to America via ship from Germany. I actually have her China that she brought here. I love love your channel. Thank you for sharing.
Christmas markets are all over Germany and other European countries. One of the best parts of Christmas.
This is on my Bucket List…The Christmas Markets!! Thank you for your videos from this Minnesota girl!! Wishing you and your family a joyous Christmas!!🎄
I've been to Christmas markets in Scandinavia, and they too are wonderful. Thanks for taking us along to Brugge, Julia. Absolutely beautiful markets there, too.
Happy holidays!
@@AmericanViscountess And to you and yours also. We're in the midst of a blizzard, so it's a white Christmas for us❄️🌨️🌟
Love your videos. Thank you for sharing so much with us ❤
Merry Christmas! 🎄🎅🏻✨
Happy holidays!
What amazed me was the shops' display windows! They're so beautiful and exciting. Long, long ago, I worked for a dept store, and the display windows, especially at Christmas, were a major production I loved being involved with. Alas, stores no longer do the work of designing & creating wonderful displays, not even at Christmas. Maybe slip a dress over a mannequin, and that's it. Definitely uninspiring. These shop displays made me so much want to go in & explore.
There was a department store in Portland, Oregon called Meyer & Frank (Clark Gable used to work there). It took up a whole block with dress windows surrounding the entire building. At Christmas every window was decorated with an animatronic "12 days of Christmas" scene. You walked slowly around the building watching each scene as it unfolded starting with a partridge in a pear tree. It could take an hour to view them all. Inside looked like Macy's at Christmas. It was jam packed with decorations & people & felt very much like shopping in New York. The upstairs was all Christmas stuff & they had a miniature toy train that ran the entire room but up high so you could view but not touch. My daughter got to experience the wonder once before they closed their doors some 25+ yrs ago. The world can be a scary place sometimes; we need the little things like dept stores at Christmas to brighten our days. Thanks for bringing so much of us joy & wonder this holiday season.
Since I barely travel anywhere, since the Covid shutdown, thank you for taking us along with you! It was a beautiful journey. These amazing cities are so special and they have their own personalities! I did make it to the open markets of Salzburg, Austria when my daughter lived there for three years. Also beautiful and surrounded by amazing mountains!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I adore Christmas markets. I visited a couple in Germany. So fun.
The best!
Thank you for taking us along…so festive!
I was fortunate to live in Belgium for nearly 10 years. The chocolate and the beer are national treasures. So are the Christmas Markets. And the moules and frites! Can't forget them.
Love it. Thanks for sharing a bit of a lovely culture.
Thanks for taking us along! Enjoyed it !🎄
Lovely! I am so thankful for your vlogs, always so delightful! What a lovely Christmas market!
Never been to any European Christmas markets. The chocolate looked amazing!
I was just at the one in Munich Germany. AWESOME!
Thank you, Julie, for sharing your trip to Bruge. The Christmas market was fabulous!
I was in Brugge in Early Summer & the canal outside your hotel room is a wall of blooming window boxes of the most spectacular showy flowers. They do the seasons well there
Welcome to Belgium! And Merry Christmas.🎄💕
Thanks for sharing! On my bucket list
This was magical! Thank you for taking us with you to this special place for Christmas! Merry Christmas!
How fabulous !!! Happy Christmas x
Thank you for sharing this. I did not know Brugge had such a wonderful Christmas market. I must add it to my Christmas travel bucket list! Merry Christmas, Julie!
Happy holidays!
Thank you for sharing this magnificent city! I lived in Belgium for 3.5 Years and Bruges was one of my favorite cities to visit! We did so often! ❤️
Wonderful episode Julie- thank you for sharing your time in Brugge with all of us! Been to Christmas markets in Munich, Oberammergau, and Salzburg but never been to Brugge's Christmas market. The food, beer, and chocolates look and probably taste amazing!
Lovely video. Bruges is one of my favourite places in the world, but I've never been there at Christmas time, so I really enjoyed this ❤️
Wow wow wow!! Well Brugge is now on the list!! Thanks Julie!
We lived in Belgium for 3 years . . . fabulous to see it again!
Loved the vlog ❤ ~ Merry Christmas 🎄❤ 🎅
Thank you for taking us along on this exciting excursion! I’ve enjoyed learning so much from your videos all yearlong. Merry Christmas to you and Luke and everyone at Mapperton!
Thank you! You too!
Trust me American Viscount, Rochester Christmas Market & Dickens Festival in Kent (UK) is the best in the world = first weekend in December every year, the cathedral & river setting is terrific + lots of live music & pubs and independent shops + easy to get to from London.
Awesome thankyou for showing us these beautiful places thx
Now I want to visit. Thanks for showing us Julie and Emma!
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Much love ❤️
Same to you!
What a beautiful Christmas market. I’ve always wanted to go to Bruges. Thank you for sharing ❤
What a beautiful city. Definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for taking us along with your adventures. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 🎅
Thank you! You too!
What a beautiful place to visit - Love the Christmas decorations and all the stores and market
Thanks. I loved the video and seeing the Christmas market. Would be great to see the market in Edinburgh too. Wish I was there. Goal for next year.
Happy holidays.
We've had many weekends in Bruges but never at Christmas time. It was fascinating to see the city at Christmas. Thank you.
Happy holidays!
WOW! Stunning! Breathtaking! I have to go there one day!!! It reminds me of Curacao with how the buildings look! SO beautiful ❤️!
Thank you SO very much for sharing this amazing video and beauty with us! Merry Christmas Julie and Luke and to your families and staff!
We went to bruge beginning of december...the decorations in the town were fantastic and in the evening just magical
There were so few people there! Totally unlike the crowds in American Christmas markets!!
Merry Christmas ! 🎅🎄🎁☃️🙏💖
Same to you!
So magical!!
Good for you two!!! I've never been but know I really want to go....maybe I can convince my husband to go next year, it would be so much fun! Thanks for doing this video.
Beautiful, beautiful Bruges, one of my all time favourite towns. Thanks for taking me back 😊😊
My pleasure 😊
Amazing. A place I must see at Christmas. Lovely.
It looks so magical! The hot chocolate bar looks amazing!
Wonderful video 🎄🎄
Thank you 🤗
Lovely vlog 💖
When my daughter was stationed in Germany they went to the Christmas markets every year!! My 1 regret to not visiting them when they were there, was not to see them.
What a great trip, thank you for taking me along.
Glad you enjoyed it
Another lovely trip! The potatoes with pancetta and Roblochon cheese is called Tartiflette. It's a speciality from Savoie. It's very easy to make at home as long as you have some Roblochon cheese!
Ok, this is my new bucket list destination. Christmas market in Bruges 2023.
I love your Florence Reno channel, it’s fabulous. Happy Holidays. 🎄🇨🇦
Happy holidays!
Julie, you have now put Brugge on my bucket list! I’m making it a goal for 2024!! Thank you 😊
I tried going to Brugge once and got to Pancreas train station to board and there was a rail strike and never got there because travelling from Canada. I had to forfeit my ticket, as had to return home. I would really love to try and go there again. Looks just fantastic. I thank you for taking me there. Merry Christmas to you and your family and all the best in the New Year.
Lovely trip, Julie. I love Brugge but never been there in December. Definitely worth doing that one day.
Jack went to Florence, now Emma to Bruge. It's nice to have special bonding time with your kids...
So amazing! You were in my city! I live just outside Brugge but I work there and my daughter lives there! Even though I see it so much, I love it! Merry Christmas !!
So cool!
Fantastic trip... You made us feel like we were there!
Looks amazing .Enjoy.x
How wonderful Brugge is and the chocolates are to die for. I would buy a million ornament. I love cobblestone streets and quaint villages.
Merry Christmas, Julie, you are a dear.
Thank you! You too!
What a wonderful experience. Only 5 hours or so to go from one country to another. To experience and different countries traditions. Cheers
There are many wonderful Xmas markets in Europe, but what Brugge...and Belgium in general..... excels at, is it's fine beers and chocolates. It would be exciting to experience a different one every Xmas. Thankyou Julie for taking us on this interesting experience with you. 🌻
New subscriber here......loved seeing this beautiful place! I have been to the Christmas markets in NYC and Philadelphia.....hope to someday visit this one. Thank you for this beautiful video...Merry Christmas! 🎄
When I lived in England, I used to get a cheap train ticket and take the car on the train to Brugge. Day trips are easy and I've also stayed there for a longer sojourn. No one does Christmas markets like Europe. I've been to them in Salzburg, Strasbourg, Brugge of course.
So festive and beautiful. Thank You!! (From the Southside of Chicago)
You are so welcome!
In the mid sixties we always used to come to Brugge and I have been up the Belfry so I have been told but I do not remember it! It is interesting as the section in front was not cobbled in my era! It does look lovely to see it though! I hope you were able to see the canals too as they are just magical! May I wish you all a Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year too! 🥳😊😄
Fantastic video!
Thank you very much!
Very curious as to how those potatoes were prepared and how they tasted. They looked good but I didn't recognize how they were made. Lovely video though. Liege is also a beautiful little town near Brussels, quite similar in fact. Absolutely fell in love with it.
I was wondering about the potatoes too. I was trying to Google the place, but it keeps directing me to a restaurant in Paris.
Thank you for continuing to post these wonderful Xmas market and Xmas experience videos! We have nothing really like this in Las Vegas😀😀😀These make the holidays a lot easier to deal with! Especially now, as I am sick☹️☹️. How lovely!❤❤❤❤
Glad you like them!
What a wonderful mother/daughter trip!! Brugge looks beautiful! I've been to the Netherlands and Germany, but I've never been to Belgium. I live in Canada though, so no train rides from here. Sadly, plane rides are beyond my budget right now 😕 😪. One day!🤞
Thanks so much for sharing your trip to the Christmas Market in Brugge. I was there many years ago in the spring, and the town looks beautiful decorated for the holiday. Did you find four lovely ornaments for your children?
We experienced the joy of Brugge just before Christmas and I felt like a kid let loose in a candy store! Stayed in beautiful hotel where they made that famous film!!! Have been drinking hot chocolate ever since😋😊🎄😘
We’re going there this dec love your video
I love Bruges… many years since we visited but it’s a Beautiful place.❤
Oh, what a nice video!🥰🎄
Thank you! 🤗
What golden, ancient charm.
I've been to Bruges a few times, it's lovely, isn't it? They call it the Venice of the North due to, I imagine, it's picturesque canals. Hope you have a great time. Merry Christmas to one and all.
Mrs. Montagu, “Heiress”
Watching your videos of your beautiful mansion, breathtaking landscape, gorgeous travels you share with us, luxurious cars, lavish foods, home in Portugal, but one question I have & please answer?
How can you have the audacity to ASK for funds when there are so many people without & just barely surviving? ‘REMEMBER The Eye of The Needle’. These people I speak of are the ones funding your progressing wealth & they don’t even realize it. WE R The Great Awakening my dear. Royalty is gone.
I pray that Father God forgive you 🙏🏼
Would you make a tour of the city of bruges. And its history would be so appreciated. Maybe you should start a tour of other cities in Europe and England. 👋
yes for sure!
Been to Brugge in summer, an amazing town. But Strassbourg in my opinion is more festive at Xmas time.
Bruges is a very beautiful city - at any time of the year. Thank you for sharing. I would definitely not say it has the best Christmas Market in the world, though.
I love Bruge! It is so beautiful. I went in the summer though. I didn't know that they were famous for their Christmas markets. There is an amazing movie starring Colin Farrell called In Bruge all shot in beautiful Bruge! Check it out Julie!
Brugge is beautiful. I've been there, but not for the Christmas market. Once I move to France in a couple months, the market will be own my bucket list. Merry, merry-
Happy holidays!
Julie you are a force of nature my dear! My daughter was in Brugge on a college trip and she fell in love with it there.
Wishing you and your family the Merriest Christmas. 🥰🎄🥂
Just want to add…have been to Brugge years ago….lovely, not Christmas, but beautiful still the same. Will go again when I get the chance!🎄
Same to you!
Julie you need to go to the Nuremberg market and the Kathe Wolfhardt store in Rothenburg ober taber.. We were stationed in Europe for 10 years, so I agree with your shopping. I hope you got some beautiful lace in Brugge. You can also go to Munich to shop.
Wonderful 🎄🎁☕️
Thank you! 🤗
I grew up by a Danish village in California called Solvang. It was magical year round but especially at Christmas. The buildings were different as they were Danish inspired (a lot of them looked like the red painted restaurant you pointed out) but otherwise it reminded me of Christmas in Brugge. All the lights & decorations & the shopping. There was the Hans Christian Andersen theater & the bakeries with all their confections in the window to entice young & old. There were miniature boat races for a quarter & animatronic puppets. Carriage rides but no snow (too warm there) and Michael Jackson's Neverland just around the bend (Bo Derek lives there too). Unfortunately, it's fallen in hard times lately but I hope it returns to it's former glory. Everyone deserves a little magic in their life.
You should visit your fellow youtuber who runs a small castle right ouside Bruges Castle ten Berghe… the sweetest family running the castle as aB&B😊😊
I'll check it out!
@@AmericanViscountess yes, and Amaury who is the owner of the family castle is of Belgian nobility! They live in the castle and have a B&B in it . They also work hard to keep the beautiful castle and to preserve it. It is small but so nicely decorated. Lovely family too!
Where is your plaid king coat from? It’s amazing!
Went to Brugge many years ago, but not at Xmas 🎄. Maybe next year 🤔 😊. Thanks for sharing your journey 💜
Happy holidays!
I strongly recommend the Xmas Market in Monschau in Germany (near the Belgian border).
I have been to Brugge on a Globus tour. I have been to the Christmas markets on a Viking river cruise but not to Brugge. I want to go to the Christmas market.
It was a wonderful idea to film your trip to Brugges - now I want to eat potatoes for supper and chocolate for dessert! When you return next year, could you show more of the actual stalls and goods in the Christmas market? Merry Christmas to all at Mapperton from sunny Miami where, thanks to the huge winter storm affecting much of the US, the temperature is in the chilly 40s for a beautiful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!
