The building and hour flat is strong built and it’s beautiful I love the kitchen and your room it’s beautiful Russia you respect women in Russia it shows
One of the best things about these apartments.. Radiator heat, and still air. Great for your skin. In America most houses have forced air heating systems, which blow warm air throughout the house. Some describe it as an airplane sound when it's running and it's about as good for your skin as using a hair dryer
I do love the chair, desk and lamps, as i a big fan of fine quality furniture. As for the weather, it is cold and raining hard and i love it to bits.😅 Fantastic British weather 🇬🇧. Anyone for a cup of tea?🫖
That's not a traveling suitcase lol that's a typewriter case! And "syndyk" is called a "chest" in English :) Also instead of saying "very old" or "retro" all the time you can use the word "VINTAGE" instead, it just sounds better than "very old" lol
That lift would give me claustrophobia.Your flat looks very cosy though.I like the old style record player.I must try to find a recording of "Krasnaya Carafan",is that "Red Caravan"?Wow below -8c they turn on the heat?In UK that for 3 days would be like a natural disaster! We panic when it gets to just 0c!Thank you for the tour.
I think the odd suitcase was for carrying a typewriter. The slope was for the angled keys on 3 or 4 levels. See if there are 4 foot marks etc inside. I would have been 5 and just about noone had a washing machine or a fridge, a washing board and a wringer was common, we had to wait until about 1960 for the "white goods" to appear. Likewise portable transistor radios. Very interesting to see familiar and different objects. You are quite pale so make sure you take vitamins especially D.
This is a a well organized and traditional apartment that has character. It is a treat to see the architecture of a Russian flat and your personable manner is quite hospitable Lisa. Thanks for sharing
Most of these buildings were built during the Soviet times. In Khabarovsk, many of them are even more modest. Imagine the oldest looking apartment building you can imagine. But inside, even though many of the apartments are small, they are cozy and nice. The total size of the apartment would fit into my greatroom in America.
Beautiful home and yard. I love your respect for the classical Russian retro design and features. Elevator is so cool. Thank you beautiful Lisa 😍 This video is incredible. Poka Poka
Yes, it's very cozy, Lisa. I really like the elevator and windows. And the paddle reminds me of Northwoods lodge decor in Midwest USA where I live. Will you make tea using one of the samovars and film it for us?

Thanks Lisa. What a warm, cosy little world, thank you so much for showing it to us. It all seems so well-organised and beautiful. You look lovely as well, 'as pretty as a picture'.
Wonderful cozy place! Lisa is the neighborhood safe and friendly? We want to make sure you are cared for. Was that thing you held up an old typewriter case?
If I'm not mistaken, these were called Khrushchevka. They always remind me of a state hospital inside, or any other publicly planned building here in the United States. I guess you can make anyplace cozy. Why they always used to put a glass transom between the loo and kitchen puzzles me.
I must correct you. 4 rooms and high ceilings (considerably higher than 3 meters) - this is "Stalinka" And in Khrushchev buildings they didn’t make a wide staircase, where you could put an elevator in the flight between the stairs. In Khrushchevka up to 5 floors there was no elevator; if there were more floors, the elevator was already built into the wall.
1984. I think she might well never have seen one. Because of the samizdat I believe there were not many having one. The books were censored and the only way for the opposition to publish something banned by the regime was by typing it. Meaning they had to hide the typing machines, very few had one and probably was registered to be controlled not to be used by the opposition.
Wonderful video, well photographed and narrated, I watched it four times over. You have an absolutely beautiful apartment. It is so feminine looking and beautifully furnished and decorated. It is such a special and rare place and yes, it is also cozy. You seem to be a very artistic, creative, and feminine person. I wish American apartments had some Russian features like an entrance area to take off my shoes and coats as well as a small washing machine. I love seeing old Soviet films with the old Soviet Moscow and Leningrad apartments, as well as the movies of farming areas with old Soviet country houses and Russian life back then from the 40's up to and through the 80's. I heard that many of the Soviet apartment buildings were built from the same building plan and blueprint. Have you ever seen that old Soviet Russian film where the man comes home from a trip and accidentally goes to the wrong apt building and when he puts the key in the slot it actually opens the apartment with the same number but in the wrong building, but when he gets in, it looks exactly like his apartment over at his actual apartment building so he spends the night and the actual tenet comes home and is shocked, tells him t leave and he says it's his apartment? Bye for now, but I will see your other videos.
I had a portable typewriter in the 60’s. Called a ‘portable’ because regular office typewriters were very big and heavy and not able to be transported easily. 🤓
Beautiful my love wish you were living with me in TX USA (K-1 VISA) it's hot and humid here but i live 30 minutes to beach🏖 it does get a little cold during the winter here around OCT- JAN love you and your channel
@@lisa_with_love I have watched all of them, this one for Moscow city is very good. I meant that Vladivostok is more authentic city and less known as well as the surrounding cities / villages, so vlogs from there are more unusual :) have a nice evening !
Ha! I have an almost identical phone (rotary dial 0-9). I got to practice unlacing/relacing all 14 eyelets on my corks. Youn's seem to take your shoes off all the time.
In Russia, it is considered the norm to take off street shoes in residential premises and not drag them further than the threshold. There are home shoes for the house.(slippers or shoes) or you can walk barefoot, any option is at your discretion, but not street shoes! There are always "duty slippers" for guests. Shoes are not removed only in special cases, for example during funerals.
This was a tour through time, in a world apart. I haven't seen a rotary phone since the 80's. Does it still work i wonder? And next to a turntable from the same era or older. That is a lovely home you're staying at Lisa. I had a feeling this video was going to be about a tour of your pad, but my original guess wasn't wrong either 😉 Russia has such a mix of old and new culture, and many traditional ways of doing things are still practiced. Its enlightening to see and watch. I hope i get the opportunity to visit someday. In the meantime, thank you Lisa, for taking us along on your journey's so we can live vicariously through them ❤😊
