Excellent review. I’ve had the Synapse 25 for a year now and your review is pretty much spot on. Yes the styling is perhaps more classic but in black, gray or dark blue it looks nice to me. The design and pocket layout works quite well.
I just bought my synapse 25 and have had it a couple of weeks. Love it. I wanted to mention Tom Bihn just started selling bands that hold the straps a week or two ago since they are long and can get in the way.
Hi, do you think a canvas camera bag measuring 13” wide, and 6” deep could be stuffed in bottom of this bag with long side (13”) of canvas bag being down? I can do this in my old TNF Surge but not the new one.
Cedar shoe trees will keep your dress shoes smelling fresh and not looking like they've been stuffed back pack. It would add a little more weight to your carry but wouldnt add any bulk. Plus, your shoes would probably last twice as long with how treating em. Love the review, gonna check out the rest of your vids
How does the Halcyon material hold up to daily use with a 15” MBP? I have the same laptop and I’m trying to decide between Halcyon or Balistic. I really like the look of halcyon and the more flexible lightweight material but just concerned that it might sag after time from the weight? Great vid. Thx
The Synapse doesn’t have an integrated laptop sleeve, the separately sold laptop sleeve is well padded and protected. So the MBP isn’t making direct contact with the Halcyon.
Synapse, it’s not even close. Wait... let me clarify. Fully loaded is Synapse, pockets are way smarter there. I’d say comfort is mostly about preference, the Axiom is a bit more rigid by design. Since the Synapse doesn’t have an integrated laptop compartment it sits softer against your back.
HumorousMaximus I’ve been a Synapse 25 owner for 3 years, and the Axiom 24 has caught my eye as a potential change. Really only thing holding me back is the sound the inside of the axiom makes. I’ve only been able to use the Synapse, but from what it looks like, the axiom seems to offer potentially more organization in terms of webbing, and I prefer when my laptop is in a completely different pocket/panel than my main compartment. What are the main reasons you prefer the Synapse instead?
Did you tried to load it with no laptop inside? IMHO it became too bulky and uncomfortable on full load without laptop inside, because of soft back. It's a main con I found using this backpack. And a look, yes, it's just an obsolete design, something like "dad's/grandpa backpack"
This isn’t my everyday carry, it’s more a capacity load out. I do leave my shoes at a drawer at work. There are occasions where I do have to carry them.

I didn’t try it that way, I’ll pretty much always have a laptop in there. Looks are definitely it’s weak point.
