Tom Bihn send this guy a new bag for free at once! I did 9 months in SEA with my Synik 30 and it still looks new. Glad to see how well your bag has held up after five years.
🙏🏽 thank you. I found myself in a unique position of someone who actually used the bag basically every day for several years, compared to a lot of reviews which people make after using the bag on one trip - often times because the video is sponsored, meaning the reviewer got the bag for free, or they are even getting a small compensation for making the video. As much as I’d like to be sponsored by Tom Bihn 😅, I’m not, lol, so I can actually make honest reviews. This bag has held up and in my opinion passed basically every test for being an incredible, functional, & durable minimalist travel or Every-Day-Carry backpack 🙏🏽 Thank you for watching & supporting my channel 🫶
I would scrub that bag with Dawn and a brush and then run it through the washer. Being dirty degrades the material. You can always spray some water repellent spray on it afterwards. I've bought many used backpacks and the washer makes them come out like new most of the time!
Tom Bihn discourages people from using a washing machine. They say it ruins the bag, basically. Their instructions include soaking it in the bathtub in water/mild detergent, gently scrubbing it, then letting it air dry with all the pockets open. Hope that helps!
Interesting! I haven’t really ever thought about getting a rainfly for it. To be honest, mine has been in the rain many times and nothing ever got too wet
Hey Mike, your backpack is an icon. For me I don’t think you have to replace it. Did you consider to buy a bigger waterproof packing sack like for rafting etc.? I mean the waterproof backpack has its pros and cons and I think one of the cons will be the internal organization and visibility when it comes to packing your stuff. Also the backpack itself will be heavier due to the materials.
“An icon” i love it 😂🫶🙏🏽 The waterproof backpack wins in terms of overall durability & water protection in environments like the forest, beach and jungle - places that I want to spend more time. I do also like the bag i already have, which does have some external organization as you mentioned - not much, but some. We’ll see
Nice review. Bronze gets that green patina after a few years. If zipper gets sticky rub with a graphite pencil lead for lubrication. How many durian can you carry in that ? Excited to hear more about Greece ! Please show putting up the new tent and some Kentucky hiking fun.
I didn’t know graphite pencil lead worked as a lubricant for zippers 🤔 never heard of that, but I’ll try it 👌🏽. I think it can probably fit 2 or 3 medium sized durians, although more than 1 is probably not fun to carry 😅. If I can get around to camping in Kentucky then I’ll try to make a video about it 👍
Because I choose to travel / live mostly in warm climates, I’ll probably just get a very minimal sleeping bag - something more like a cotton sack. And for a sleeping mat I’ll just get one of those silver-colored pieces of foam and try to strap it to the bottom of my bag

I like the broken-in feel to be honest.
But a sponsorship would be great 🙌🏽❤️🔥
I love this raw review of someone who had clearly actually USED the bag.
🙏🏽 thank you.

I purchased a rain fly from REI that works perfectly for my Synapse 25.
Interesting! I haven’t really ever thought about getting a rainfly for it. To be honest, mine has been in the rain many times and nothing ever got too wet
Great review ! I love the synapse 🤙🏼 🏄
Thanks! 🙏🏽 do you have one? And if so, how long have you had it? :)
Nice! I've got a thing for rucksacks. Had quite a collection, for a while. Feel naked without one.
Backpacks > suitcase

Duality or Nonduality? ;)
Great and valuable content, Mike ❤
Thank you 🙏🏽🩵
If you bring the tent inside the bag then will you have a sleeping mat and sleeping bag or blankets/pillows?

What about sleeping bag if you will sleep in a tent?
Getting a sleeping bag soon 🙏🏽
But you think it will fit your TB with rest?
@@mat8650 we shall see 👀
