    When you say to dose in equal parts like 10ml or alk and calc what if the mixture cal/alk solution has a different ratio of 1:2 or does it still not matter? Some people say to dose more alk and less calcium etc so thats why i ask

    • @reeferexplained8846
      @reeferexplained8846 3 роки тому

      Yep me too I dose 10ml Alk every hour from 10am- 3pm and always at 9dkh and dosing 10ml in the evening once on calcium its always at 480. But recently my alkalinity has dropped to 8dkh not sure why calcium is at 480.
      Here is my question do I up kh 10ml dosing 4pm and 5pm and test 24 hrs later or up my calcium to match exactly my dosing of alkalinity.
      It's 69 gal tank with Lps corals and couple of sps corals. Using hanna checker and salfert for kh test so it's correct.
      After water change every 10 days I replace 60litres and kh back to 9.4 and cal at 480.
      What's best in uk 🇬🇧 not dosing 2 part brs using aquaforest kh buffer power mixed in 2litre dosing container 80grams and same 80grams calcium from aquaforest power.

    Keeping an eye on your dkh it’s important because if it drops your Calcium will sky rocket and if your dkh it’s to high you’ll see the skeletons of your corals grow fast but not the tissue and magnesium keeps Calcium an Alk from binding so it’s very important to do your tests. Awesome video bud no bullshit in it and I really like that 💯👍🤟

So let's say I need 15 MLS to raise my alk, do I have to dose 15 MLS of calcium? And when dosing like that, do I dose hours apart or a few minutes with regards to adding the alk and cal?

    Really nice video again, thanks for sharing, I do have some of the fish that you have- Purple Tang - Tomini and the Yellow Eye - could you make a video about the fish- not deep details but it will be kind of nice, I know you have made some in the past - but something new and also how do you deal with Nitrates with your tank.- For the first time I had Nitrates on my tank nothing major all the corals seems to be doing fine with the exception of my torch - one hammer and a duncan coral I am just doing 2 weekly water changes to regulate everything the way it was... Thank you in advance whether you make the video or not...

    • @FishOfHex
      @FishOfHex  6 років тому +1

      yes it doesnt matter when you dose only that at the end of the day you have equal amounts of both. Most people dose alk at night to help with ph and cal during the day. I personally dose every hour on top of the hour alk and 30 min later cal

    I’m dealing with the issue of dosing too much alkalinity seems to stay at 7-7.2 DKH I kept adding more time to my ALK thinking it would raise it.
    Calcium is around 430
    Should I just put my ALK to the same amount of time the calcium puts out? And take it from there? So it’s at equal parts

    Hi There..I loved this video..I am , however, surprised at your advice when alk is low and cal is high..you recommend dosing two part equally...then you said you would likely find your alk rose and your calcium dropped from 500 to about 425..... that is GOOD NEWS if that is what would likely happen..so are you saying by dosing both your rise in alk corrects the calcium **even though you added more calcium**?????????? That is news to me big time!!!! ????

    I have always done weekly water changes and kept my levels right on until i recently added a bunch of frags and alk dropped to 7. Your approach is a lot different than most. I am pretty new to the hobby so trying to get a lot of perspectives but I have been hearing that i have been doin it wrong. That weekly water changes dont keep it stable and its better to dose and change once a month! Like with kaklwasser, keeps it more steady. To be quite honest diffidently considering that route with 3 tanks! Plus I heard dkh should reamin very steady and its always 8.5 maybe 9.1 but in the same range but not on the same exact number and kalwasswer has the benefit of increasing ph, which most people say is good for growth. I know you have a lot of sps but a lot of people dont and sps has a very fast growth rate.

    How often should you do water charges if you have a "fish only" tank.

    • @rc2300s2r
      @rc2300s2r 6 років тому

      Jayson Hannah depends. Size of tank and bio load. What type/s of filtration you’re running. How much you feed.
      You’d want to test your water for nitrates mainly with fish only and do change when it gets over your threshold. I’d do it around 25ppm. Fish only is a lot more forgiving but not to be taken for granted.
